Annabel’s Pov.

I tried to remedy my situation by explaining how today unlike other days I actually came on time but I was held down by Elijah who appeared out of nowhere with a suspicious smile and some roses plus, the arrogant man who kept saying weird things and even dared to kiss me, Arrrg!!

But I couldn't complete my sentence because of his raised hands which were telling me he had no interest in listening to whatever I had to say. "Keep your explanations and go to your seat, Miss Annabel." He said with a frown but his voice was surprisingly low and less antagonistic as usual.

I walked to where I usually sat which was beside Jamie, a somewhat quiet shy girl who was also working as a maid for a mean family like mine. Jamie had been everything to me since she got transferred here and I always bless the day I met her.
