Chapter 2 • Am I A Witch?

Chapter 2 • Am I A Witch?

Darkness filled the whole place with the land resembling a chaparral perhaps with its thinnest feature not quite observed though.

Yvonne slowly pried her eyes as she looked around her and espied the oddity of her surroundings.

The chirping and chattering of invisible birds left her in an obfuscated state.

"Where is this place?" Yvonne asked no one in particular but got the weird echo of her voice that made her make an imperceptible movement backward as cold shiver ran true to her skin.

She started running as fast as her legs could carry her. Perhaps she will see someone at the other end.

She kept running till she found herself at the exact point she started.

This made fear grip her, she twirled round on the spot and observed the circular shape of the place she's standing on.

She sat on that spot and hugged her legs trying to recall how she got to this place that really looks like one of her worst nightmares she prays never to go back on.

"Yvonne...Yvonne…" A voice called her from nowhere in particular as the sound echoed around her.

She looked around her and found no one nor anything that might have been the source of the voice.

But though she observed just one thing, the sudden wind, that left her hair and clothes seeking for its direction. She stood up from her previous position and tried standing upright.

"Who the hell is here?" She asked in full anger and rage in her tone obviously upset without even a care of who she's talking to.

"I'm here to fulfill your wish." The voice replied to her it's tone was louder this time like she was drawing closer to Yvonne.

A thin, deep red light started to blink from a distance, soon it was very close to her like she called for it.

She stared boldly with her eyes as wide as a cat's anticipating what the voice will say to her.

Soon a woman appeared from the deep red light with a red hair color and red dress with her eyes sparkling in the darkness with a red light also.

"Choose wisely my dear, a rare chance of another life is being presented to you. Which part do you choose?" She asked her as her voice sounded soothing this time as if something was about to imminent.

"I chose any part that will make me very powerful, any part that will make me avenge everyone that betrayed and rejected me in a way that will make them beg for death." Yvonne said through gritted teeth as she looked boldly at the woman with full certitude in her voice.

"Young lady, are you sure that's the kind of path you've chosen for your second chance with life?" She asked Yvonne in a much soothing tone as if she's really trying to coax her into thinking properly so as not to make an impetuous or precipitous decision which is only claded by her burning desire for revenge.

"I'm more than sure, that's the kind of path I've chosen, I want to kill Raymond for betraying me, for making me believe his charade, love confessions towards me, for taking me for a fool…" She was spouting in anger when the old lady suddenly raised her hands with a lot of vigor towards the dark moonless sky and a red stick appeared in it which caused the whole place to have a trembling earthquake that made Yvonne fall to the floor and she pointed the stick on her causing a great thunderstorm…

"Go…!"

•••Reborn three years later•••

"My granddaughter, how are you feeling now?" Marya asked Yvonne when she observed her eyes open slowly.

"Mia, Mia, how are you my daughter?

Ooh my daughter has finally woken up." Mandalin asked with a beautiful smile that took over her lips and great expectations filled her eyes.

Yvonne felt perplexed and puzzled about the whole situation; she really didn't understand the whole thing.

But she was sure of one thing, just one thing…

She's dead.

'Are my perhaps in a land of the dead?

Or did I travel to another world?' She asked herself, still really deep in a jumbled state.

"Mia, can you hear me?" Marya, Mia's mom asked her with a glimpse of disappointment in her eyes.

'Mia? Who's Mia ? How come my name is Mia? Am I not dead?' Yvonne asked within her then opened her eyes brightly so as to scrutinize where she was.

The room was lit with all kinds of candlestick making a parallel line round the room starting from her bed edge.

The two women in the room were dressed in black loose long gowns.

They looked very alike, maybe in their early thirties and late twenties, this only made Yvonne sink more in the pool of her chaotic state.

Yvonne closed her eyes trying to relax and understand the situation at hand.

"Mia, talk to your grandma, it has been a whole year that you haven't talked to me, I'm aching to hear your melodious voice darling please talk to granny." Marya said in a pitiful tone as if on the bridge of crying.

"Granny…" Yvonne said with a shaky voice as she looked at the young woman calling herself her grandmother.

"Oh my lovely granddaughter…" Marya said as she hugged her tightly.

"Mia, talk to mom, we've missed you so much…" Maudlin said as tears clouded her eyes threatening to be let out.

"Come mommy… Join us…" Yvonne said with a shaky tone.

Maudlin joined them in the hug while sobbing as her shoulders kept quivering vigorously as she let out tears of joy and happiness of having her daughter back.

"Mia, tomorrow you'll be called upon by the council of elders to confirm you aren't died,

You have to freshen up now, let me and your granny prepare your favorite dish for you okay." Maudlin said, winking at Yvonne.

"Okay mom." Yvonne replied with an obvious fake smile plastered on her lips.

The clicking of the door and the re-clicking of the door made Yvonne know that they had exited the place.

She sat upright on the bed, ran her hands through her head and after a brief moment stood up from the bed and sat on a chair in front of a mirror looking at her reflection in the mirror.

She slowly ran her hands on her face.

"I reincarnated to be this beautiful body and face." She said as she kept running her hands on her face.

"This is my rear second chance with life,

And I'm here for one thing: Revenge! I will deal with them all… They will beg for their lives… Slowly I will make sure they taste more than what I did…" Yvonne was speaking with low and gritted teeth and was interrupted by the chiming of the door.

"Hello my best friend.. I've missed you so much…" Linda said as she hugged Yvonne from the back.

"Mia, you can't believe you missed the witches' decade gathering…" Linda said with a hint of disappointment in her tone as she looked at Yvonne.

'What? Witches! Am I a witch?' Yvonne asked within her in a perplexed manner
