CHAPTER 24: HER PAST

“I will have your identification problem solved before the end of the week. So, I might need your details, if you don’t mind.”

Elowyn readily gave them. she didn’t even need to give false information at all. however, she couldn’t help but remind him of something.

“I am not sure how you will find my name written in the system. If it’s not deceased, then please just have my previous identification reissued, but if it comes out as deceased, then please use Gardner instead of Gregory as my last name,” she firmly said, taking into account that Hilary might have declared her dead.

After all, she truly died in some sense that night.

Kayden was curious when he heard that. After all, how could a living person be announced dead all of a sudden? So, he asked her directly.

“Do you mind telling me about what happened to you? Why do you need to hide and what you want to achieve? You can choose not to say anything but for reference’s sake, by knowing the information, it can help me plan a detailed training schedule for you.”

He didn’t need to explain any further, but she kind of understood what he meant. Moreover, she didn’t plan to hide her enmity at all but planned to share it.

She understood one thing after this ordeal: working as a lone wolf wouldn’t get her anywhere. She needed allies. With allies, she can bring down her enemies. As a seer, she couldn’t work alone. She would need warriors to do her biding and vice versa.

Perhaps this pack might give her what she wants, and she would help them as well. That wouldn’t infringe on anyone’s benefits, right?

Besides, she was curious how he would react after learning about her past. Seeing his reaction would at least help her gauge how much she should trust him in the future. Consider it as a test.

Moreover, sharing this painful past would garner her sympathy and remind her of the betrayal and loss she experienced. She wasn’t willing to forget about it yet before making those people pay.

It wasn’t too late for a gentleman to avenge himself.

Without any expression that garnered, she started narrating her story, and the more Kayden listened, the angrier he became.

If his lover ends up like Elowyn one day, what would he do?

They might find it normal, but didn’t that selfishness cost three people?

If she hadn’t been saved by Hazel, Elowyn could have died. Although he felt relieved that she survived but the pain of having the man she loved kill not just her but the babies she was expecting. He didn’t dare imagine it.

Even growing up in a complicated family, nothing of that caliber ever happened. To think that such a young girl had to experience all that, he hated the Whitecrest pack so much.

Now talking about this pack, what pack was it?

Why couldn’t he remember hearing anything about it?

Anyway, regardless of it being known or unknown, Kayden put it on the blacklist. Such a scumbag, he didn’t deserve to be a leader. He was unfit.

“I want to avenge myself. I want to watch him lose everything that he had ever desired. He stabbed my belly and took away the only family I had remaining,” she said with gritted teeth, her fists clenched as she recalled that painful night.

“I know that I am weak, but I will give my all to become stronger. I might not be able to fight a wolf in my human form, but I will do my best. I don’t want to be that pathetic woman who was so weak that I failed to protect myself or my children. I want to become stronger,” she said determinately as she looked at Kayden.

Thud. And without warning, she suddenly plopped down on her knees, startling Kayden, who wasn’t expecting such a move.

“You_” his words were cut off as Elowyn resolutely continued, “I beg of you. Make me stronger. I don’t care how tough the training will be. I need to be strong. I swear to the deities above that I will repay you. You will never regret doing this. I promise!” she swore earnestly, looking very determined.

She was very weak now, and her seer abilities were just sprouting. She still has to learn and utilize her abilities until they are helpful to others.

So, although she was a seer, it was the same as being none. After all, what could she do and help others with?

Kayden once again experienced how different Caesar was and treating Elowyn. He was so careful. For a moment, he almost thought that Caesar wasn’t his wolf at all. Where did that aggressive beast vanish to?

However, he couldn’t retort against Caesar. After all, his statements resonated truthfully with him as well.

He had always wondered where his mate was. He had met other packs leaders and even attended gatherings and yet there was nothing.

If she wasn’t his fated one, he would take it one step at a time.

He rose to his feet, took a few steps before he stretched his hands towards her, gesturing her to rise to her feet.

Elowyn bit her tongue as she held back her tears.

It was her first time to beg someone on her knees. Even when she was betrayed by Hilary, she had never knelt and yet to become stronger so that she could defeat Hilary or even Veda, she humbled herself.

That’s how determined she was, and she hoped that Kayden would feel her sincerity.

So, when she saw him reaching out to her, she nearly cried. He didn’t say any words, but she knew pretty well what he meant, and that’s all she was asking for.

And it seemed that she made the right bet.

“Thank you,” she sniffed as she placed her soft hand in his, already seeing a brighter future ahead.
