CHAPTER 27: KAYDEN’S CIRCLE OF FRIENDS 2 – GETTING ACQUAINTED

“Kayden!” she called out to him, and he nodded at her.

Earlier, the Alpha had told her repeatedly to call him by his name without the title. Although she felt uncomfortable at first, after exchanging words a few more times, she found herself calling him like that.

Perhaps she adapted pretty well because she used to call Hilary by his name as well. Especially when they were alone.

Anyway, that wasn’t the crux of the matter right now. She wasn’t with Hilary anymore but with Kayden.

[Doesn’t she look beautiful?] Caesar shamelessly boasted as he groomed himself, and Kayden found himself taking several sneakier glances at Elowyn.

She wasn’t wearing any fancy clothes, yet she looked ethereal. His heart couldn’t help but pound.

‘Beautiful!’

“Um ….. um,” but that wonderful moment was disrupted when Letty cleared her throat exaggeratedly, making Elowyn’s face flush with shame.

Although Kayden was sneaking earlier, she was very sensitive to glances and monitoring. She noticed that, and she didn’t know how to feel about that.

Does he like her?

That would be absurd, right?

Having such thoughts and then getting seen by others, Elowyn just wanted to bury herself seven feet underground. It was very embarrassing, but someone else didn’t feel embarrassed at all.

Seeing Elowyn’s face flushing like that, a smile graced his face briefly before returning to nonchalance.

“Let’s go!” he said to Elowyn, and she raised her head, the tips of her ears red and nodded, agreeing with him.

Kayden didn’t say another word, afraid of making Elowyn shy.

She followed behind without saying much. When she reached the four people who came with Kayden but didn’t notice earlier, since she was more focused on Kayden, Kayden introduced her to them.

“Elowyn, meet Paul. He is my Beta and second in command. If I am not here, you can go to him and he will help you solve whatever problem you have,” Kayden started by introducing her to Paul.

He was quite kind and only spoke when necessary. Unlike Bolton, who looked bulky, Paul was lean and more suitable for being a model.

Elowyn couldn’t help but take a look at Paul and nod with satisfaction inwardly. He was another fine man and unlike Hilary’s Beta, who always tries to show off and make everyone feel his presence, Paul was much to her liking.

“Hello, Paul. It’s nice to meet you. Please take care of me!” she greeted politely, maintaining a smile on her face.

Since she wasn’t calling Kayden as an Alpha, why should she call Paul as a Beta? That wouldn’t make sense, right?

Paul took a closer look at Elowyn. Although they had talked about her, he hadn’t seen her this close before.

A mysterious glint flickered in his eyes briefly as he looked at her and then shifted to Kayden, whose gaze was fixated on Elowyn before returning to look at her.

“Hello. It's nice to meet you!” Paul returned the greeting, keeping it brief and concise.

Kayden continued to introduce other members as well.

“This is Bolton. The lead warrior, or might as well call him our General. Anything related to that, you can find him and talk to him.”

Elowyn’s eyes lit up as she looked at Bolton. And she didn’t bother to hide from Bolton that she was staring at him. It made the bulky man, whose heart was as soft as tofu, feel shy.

The two exchanged greetings quickly before the next person was introduced.

“This is Olivia. She is the person to go to if you have any interpersonal issues to deal with. She will be in charge of making your new documents. You can talk to her and tell her about what you told me previously.”

“Lastly, that’s Letty. She is our general healer. If you ever get hurt, just go to her, and she also works as the main counselor.”

Elowyn was so happy seeing the ladies and knowing the positions that they hold in the pack.

Recalling the previous pack, there were few women in the highest positions. There were just men, but now, if she has a problem, she can just talk it out with the ladies, especially Letty.

Hazel encouraged her to talk with someone, and having a professional might be helpful to her.

“It's nice to meet you. I will be bothering you a lot in the future!” Elowyn earnestly said as she beamed at the ladies, and the two were quite satisfied.

“Hehe, we are now family. What is bothering whom?” Letty cheekily said as she grabbed her right arm, and Elowyn let her be.

Olivia took the left arm, and Elowyn found herself sandwiched between the two ladies, who had different characters and yet felt deadly.

She didn’t underestimate these ladies. There was no way they would sit in such positions when they weren’t capable.

Seeing their enthusiasm towards her before she even reveals her secret, Elowyn felt happy. There was no need for these people to scheme against her. What did she have?

Thinking like that, she became very enthusiastic towards them, and Kayden sighed with relief seeing her getting acquainted so easily like that.

“How old are you, by the way? You look eighteen!” Letty asked exaggeratedly as she led Elowyn away from the boys.

“Eighteen!” Elowyn was filled with shock as she looked at Letty dumbfoundedly. “I am twenty-one!” she protested, and the girls laughed heartily, finding her very cute.

“How is that even possible? How do you take care of your skin? You are not just saying that to make yourself look older, are you?” Olivia asked, teasing Elowyn.

Elowyn, who was being questioned, puffed her cheeks as she started a round of proving herself.

The ancestor watching all that was happening, shook her head helplessly as she muttered to herself, ‘Be grateful that they don’t have any ill intent towards you. How could you give your information readily to others so easily like that?’

Perhaps it was a good thing to let Elowyn live there. With these people, in a year or so, she would be polished and cleverest. At least she won’t be fooled by others anymore, which was her greatest fear.

She might be able to mentor Elowyn and make her the greatest seer ever, but that’s it. The rest, she could only rely on the living.

Times were changing, after all.
