Just then, the door slowly opened and Steve walked in. He had a file in one hand, his other hand running through his hair like he had a lot on his mind. But the moment he saw Gabby sitting up in bed with a troubled look on her face, he stopped.

“Gabby?” he asked softly, placing the file on the small table. “Are you okay?”

Gabby looked up at him and quickly called out, “Steve.”

He rushed over to her side, sitting on the edge of the bed. “What is wrong? Did something happen?”

“I had a dream ...and it felt so real..brother, I think something is going on.” she said, her voice shaking a little.

Steve frowned then held her hand." Tell me Gabby, what kind of dream?”

Gabby took a deep breath. “I was in a dark place. It wasn’t scary, but it was strange. I felt like I had been there before. And then that man from the cafe showed up. "

Steve’s expression changed instantly, his body tensing.

“He said I belong to him,” Gabby continued, her voice low. “He said I can’t run from him. When he touched

Gabby tossed and turned in her bed, her hands shaking. No matter how hard she tried, sleep wouldn’t come. Every time she closed her eyes, she feared the dream would return, or worse, that something even more confusing would happen to her. She sat up slowly, hugged her pillow tight, and looked around her room. She couldn’t take it anymore. She got out of bed, still hugging her pillow, and quietly walked down the hall.Steve’s room door was closed, but she gently pushed it open.He was already in bed, his bedside lamp still on. He turned his head when he saw her standing there.“Gabby?” he asked, surprised. “What’s wrong?”She walked in slowly and stood beside his bed. “Can I sleep here tonight?”Steve sat up slightly. “Why? What’s going on?”“I… I’m just scared,” she said softly, not meeting his eyes.Steve moved to the side and patted the empty space beside him. “Of course you can. Come here.”Gabby climbed into the bed, still hugging her pillow. Steve pulled the blanket over both o

Steve’s face turned hard. “Gabby...”“No bother, let me finish,” she said firmly. "And then, the way you reacted today when I told you about him wasn't normal. Brother, I have seen that look on your face before, when you’re hiding something. You always change the topic. You always pretend it’s nothing. But it’s not nothing, Steve.”Steve sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “You have been through a lot, Gabby. You collapsed today. Maybe it’s stress.”“No,” she cut in. “It is not stress brother, it is something else. My body reacts in ways I don’t understand. I feel things I can’t explain. You keep telling me I’m tired, overthinking, or stressed. But I know when something is real.”Her eyes filled with tears. “I trusted you with everything. Why won’t you tell me the truth?”Steve walked slowly over to the couch and sat beside her, keeping his eyes on the floor. “Gabby… it’s not that I don’t want to tell you. It’s that I can’t.”“Why not?” she whispered.“Because once I tell you,

Gabby sat at her desk staring at the computer screen, but nothing was making sense. Her fingers rested on the keyboard, still, as her thoughts kept drifting back to the man she had met at lunch. She still could not understand why she felt that way. It felt strange and familiar but she couldn’t explain why. She didn’t remember ever meeting him before, yet it felt like she had known him all her life. There was something about him that pulled her in, and she didn’t understand. She had tried to push it out of her mind and get back to work, but it wasn’t working. Her heart still beat faster whenever she thought about him, and her hands were a little shaky. She leaned back on her chair and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself..“Why do I feel like this?” she whispered to herself. She thought hard, trying to dig deeper through her memories, trying to remember if she had seen that man anywhere before. Maybe in her past? Maybe he was a friend of the family? But nothing came. His face wasn’

Her heart was still racing, and her mind was filled with questions.Who was that man? Why did she feel so strange when he looked at her? And why did it feel like a part of her knew him?Gabby walked quickly back to the office, her heart still beating fast. She looked back from time to time hoping that he wasn't following her behind. How did he know that she was having strange feelings? As soon as she got close to the gate, she saw Steve waiting. He had one hand in his pocket, and the other was holding his phone. After leaving Mr Hawkins's compound, Simon sat alone in his mansion. The windows were shut, and only a small lamp lit the room. His eyes were fixed on his notebook on the table beside him. He had decided to come up with a schedule that would give him the most appropriate time to meet Gabby alone. The schedule showed Steve’s work hours, the times he left home, and when he usually returned. He also noted that Gabby leaves with Steve in the morning and stays at the office until 5 PM. They are home by 6 PM, together again.Simon took a deep breath, then closed the notebook. It was becoming more and more difficult for him to win against Steve, but he wasn't going to back off."So, he is keeping her close every minute,” he whispered quietly to himself."Fuuuuuck!" He cursed out loud then stood up and walked around the room, pacing back and forth. His heart was filled with rage and pain. “She should be mine...not his...she is mine,” he muttered.Over the past few days, if not for himsel
