Ralph’s POV

Once Maddox and I finished going over every detail of the plan, I pushed my chair back and stood. We had spent the better part of the afternoon moving markers across that map, arguing over routes, adjusting positions, and finding every weakness we could exploit. By the time we were finished, there wasn’t much left to change.

I had to admit it. The plan looked good. It wasn’t perfect. Nothing ever was. Every operation eventually ran into something unexpected. The difference this time was we weren’t charging headfirst into another battle. We were taking our time. Watching. Waiting. Picking our moments instead of announcing our arrival with an army. That suited me just fine.

I walked out of Maddox’s office and let the door click shut behind me. The hallway remained quiet. A few men passed by carrying supplies, but none of them paid much attention to me. Most kept their heads down and continued with whatever assignment they had been given. Good. I preferred it that way.

The kings thought they had beaten me. They thought taking my pack was some great victory. Bullshit. That’s what it was. I’d been running that pack for the last six years. Every patrol. Every warrior. Every decision. Every inch of that territory had answered to me.

Still… None of it surprised me. The second Traci turned eighteen, leadership belonged to her whether she claimed it or not. I’d known that day was coming. That was exactly why I’d tried to eliminate her before she ever reached that birthday. Unfortunately… That plan hadn’t exactly gone my way.

I rolled my eyes and let out an irritated breath. “So much for that.” Now the pack belonged to someone else. Corbin had stepped in. The elders had moved into position. Royal warriors watched every entrance while additional patrols circled the borders day and night. The place had become nearly impossible to reach. Almost.

I glanced around the corner before continuing outside. Nobody followed. Satisfied, I headed toward the back of the compound where several workshops had been converted into makeshift storage areas. The farther I walked, the quieter everything became. Most people avoided this section. Probably because they knew exactly who worked back here.

Jordan. Maddox’s Beta. He barely noticed me as I approached. His entire focus remained on the device spread across the workbench. Tiny tools surrounded him. Coils of wire. Metal casings. Circuit boards. Half-assembled mechanisms. He worked with steady hands, carefully stripping insulation from one wire before connecting it to another.

“How’s everything coming along?” I asked.

Without looking up, he answered. “I’ve got a few more to finish.” He adjusted another connection before reaching for a screwdriver. “After that I need to test the timing mechanisms.” A small click echoed around him. “Once those pass inspection…” He finally nodded to himself. “They’re ready.”

I folded my arms across my chest. “That’s a lot of work for one man.”

“It is,” he nodded his head in agreement.

“Isn’t there anybody else who can help?” I asked as I sounded like I was concerned.

For the first time, he stopped working. He looked up at me with his eyebrows pulled together. “You mean someone with the skills?”

I shrugged my shoulders once. “Seems like it’d speed things up.”

Jordan rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “You know…” A slow smile crossed his face. “Now that you mention it…” His fingers snapped. “Boomer.” He laughed quietly. “I completely forgot about him.” He shook his head. “That crazy bastard is even better than I am.” His grin widened. “The problem is…” He picked up another wire. “Boomer likes making everything as big as possible.” He mimicked an explosion with both hands. “Every single time.”

A chuckle escaped me. “Sounds about right.”

Jordan returned to work, carefully twisting several wires together before securing them beneath a small connector. I stayed where I was, silently watching. His concentration never wavered. The man truly enjoyed what he did.

Personally… I thought he was insane. Still… Insane people were useful. After a few minutes, I glanced around the yard. Warriors patrolled the outer perimeter several hundred yards away. Their routes never brought them close to us. Out here… It was just the two of us.

“So…” I looked back toward him. “Why isn’t anybody working with you?”

Jordan didn’t even pause. He smirked beneath the curtain of hair hanging over his forehead. “They’re all chicken shits.”

I laughed. “They’re afraid you’ll accidentally blow them up?”

He pointed the pliers toward me. “Exactly.” He threw both hands into the air. “They think I’m going to trip a wire and…” He made another exploding motion. “… boom.”

“I suppose that’s a fair concern,” I let out a small chuckle.

He laughed. “I’ve only done it twice.”

“Only?” I laughed again.

“I’m pretty sure it was only twice.”

I watched him another moment before nodding toward the device lying on the table. “Need a hand?”

He slowly shook his head. “Nah.” His attention never left the project. “I’ve got it.” A small smile crossed his face. “But I appreciate you asking.” He shrugged his shoulders. “And the company.”

Silence settled between us. The only sounds came from tools lightly tapping metal and wires sliding through Jordan’s fingers. Eventually I tilted my head. “So…” He glanced toward me. “How easy is it to trigger one of those?”

Jordan chuckled. “Oh…” He pointed toward several exposed wires before tapping a small button mounted along one side. “Very easy.” His finger moved from one connection to another. “If this wire touches that one…” He traced another line with the tip of his screwdriver. “… everything goes boom.”

I nodded thoughtfully. “That’s the only way?”

He smiled. “Yep. That’s it.”

Satisfied with the explanation, he returned to his work. I remained there another couple of minutes before saying my goodbyes and turning toward the compound.

Jordan never looked up again. He trusted me. I walked until I reached what I considered a safe distance. Only then did I stop. Without turning around, I raised my voice just enough for him to hear. “You forgot one more way.”

His tools stopped moving. “What?”

He sounded genuinely confused. I slowly looked over my shoulder. “The device.”

He frowned. “What about it?”

“You forgot there’s another way to set it off.”

His eyebrows climbed. “And how would that be?”

I didn’t answer. Instead… I kept walking. As I rounded the corner, I opened my hand and looked down at the small activation fob resting in my palm. While he’d been busy explaining his masterpiece, I’d leaned over the table pretending to admire his work. In reality… I’d lifted the remote without him noticing.

A grin spread across my face. Just like taking candy from a baby. I pressed the button. BOOOOOM!

  • The Reign Of The Last White Wolf   Bad Guy

Raiden’s POV I was sitting behind my desk with Zayden across from me while Kael and Ryker stood near the other side of the office. We had been going over the last few things that needed to be handled before the tournament, making sure everything was in place. Kael had a list in his hand, and Ryker was going over the security details with him when I suddenly felt Traci reach for me through the mind link. “Raiden.” I immediately focused on her. “What’s wrong?” The answer came almost instantly. “The boys just did something.” My entire body tensed. “What did they do?” She took a deep breath. “They were walking back toward the vehicles with Corbin and Marge. Corbin has Kieran, and Marge has Theron. One of the warriors stepped out of one of the SUVs, and both boys turned toward him. Then both of them raised their little hands.” I exchanged a quick look with Zayden. “What happened after that?” Traci hesitated for a second before answering. They both twinkled their fingers and said, “

  • The Reign Of The Last White Wolf   Freeze!

Traci’s POV The morning had started out quiet. Sarah, Helen, Samantha, and I were walking through the garden, enjoying the fresh air before the day really got going. The palace was busy with people coming and going as preparations continued, but out here, everything felt peaceful. I was listening to Sarah complain about something when the sound of an engine caught my attention. I turned toward the palace entrance. A dark SUV was pulling through the gates. I slowed my steps. “Is somebody arriving?” Helen asked. Sarah looked toward the vehicle. “Maybe.” The first SUV continued toward the palace, and another one came through the gates behind it. I frowned. Then a third followed. Samantha stopped walking. “Is that another one?” I nodded my head. Another SUV came through the gates. Then another. We all stood there watching as the vehicles made their way through the gates. “Already?” Sarah asked. “They’re showing up two days early?” I shrugged my shoulders. “I guess some people cou

  • The Reign Of The Last White Wolf   6 Months Later

Zayden’s POV We’d been back home in the palace for six months now. It was hard to believe how quickly those months had passed. It seemed like only yesterday we had been carrying our newborn sons through the palace doors, terrified that spiders may return and bite one of them. Or the curse would return. Now there wasn’t a trace of it. Raiden’s marks never returned, and neither did Kieran’s or Theron’s. The boys had grown faster than any babies I had ever seen, but then again, they weren’t ordinary babies. They were White Wolf babies, and they were already showing just how different they were. At six months old, they were toddling around the palace. They still fell every once in a while, because their little legs hadn’t quite caught up with how quickly they wanted to move, but they were far more advanced than any six-month-old should have been. And we had learned that their abilities were developing just as quickly. Kieran had fire. Theron had ice. We had discovered their healing a

  • The Reign Of The Last White Wolf   Abilities

Zayden’s POV I was still staring down at Theron when he let out another tiny whimper. I rubbed my hand gently over his back. “What’s wrong, little man?” He squirmed against my chest, his little face turning toward his brother. I followed his gaze. Kieran was still in Raiden’s arms, staring at the fireplace like he had no idea he had just caused the flames to jump. Then Kieran made a tiny sound. The fire flickered. I looked at Raiden. Then back to the fireplace. The flames jumped a little higher. Traci covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. Kieran’s eyes stayed fixed on the fireplace, and his little mouth curled into that same innocent smile. “Well,” I said slowly, “I think your brother wants to show off.” Theron let out another whimper. I looked down at him. “Are you jealous?” He stopped moving. Then he balled both of his little fists. I watched as he raised his hands slightly. A chill swept through the room. Before I could say anything, frost began spreading across the hearth.

  • The Reign Of The Last White Wolf   Is It Gone?

Raiden’s POV A couple of days had passed since the night everything changed, and nothing had happened. My marks hadn’t returned. Neither had Kieran’s or Theron’s. We had watched the boys constantly, waiting for some sign that something was wrong, but they had given us nothing to worry about. They ate, they slept, they cried when they were hungry, and they seemed perfectly content with everything around them. I couldn’t actually believe it. After living with the curse for so long I was used to pain and my anger flaring. But now… I wasn’t waiting for the curse to strike again. I still found myself checking my arms sometimes, almost expecting to see those marks appear against my skin. But every time I looked, there was nothing there. Traci had spent much of the last two days going through the old journals. She had been determined to find out whether the curse could return or if what happened to me was permanent. Tonight, she was sitting across from me near the fireplace with one of

  • The Reign Of The Last White Wolf   Gone

Zayden’s POV I reached down and carefully lifted Kieran from his bassinet, settling him against my chest. He didn’t cry. He didn’t squirm. He simply looked up at me with those tiny eyes, watching me as I gently rubbed my hand over his back. There was something in his expression that I couldn’t explain. It wasn’t pain. If anything, there was almost a little smile on his face. I stared down at him, completely captivated by it. “Sweetheart,” I whispered, brushing my thumb gently across his cheek. “Baby boy… did you take that from your brother?” I almost laughed at myself. I knew he couldn’t answer me. He was barely hours old. But that little smile remained. And for some reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling that my son knew exactly what I was asking. I looked over toward the other bassinet. Theron was still sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of everything happening around him. His skin was clear now. The markings that had covered his tiny body after birth were gone. Kieran
