Selene’s POV

The morning came too soon, sunlight pouring through the window of the small cabin like liquid gold. I stirred awake to the sound of Ronan’s low voice as he spoke on the phone. His words were muffled, but his tone carried a weight of urgency.

When he hung up, I sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. Ronan stood by the window, his silhouette outlined by the soft glow of morning light.

“What’s going on?” I asked, my voice still heavy with sleep.

He turned, offering me a small smile. “There’s a meeting with the board members. I need to head back to the city today.”

A pang of disappointment surprised me, but I pushed it aside. “That sounds important.”

“It is,” he admitted, walking over and sitting on the edge of the bed. “But you’re coming with me.”

I blinked at him, startled. “To the city?”

Ronan nodded. “I’m not leaving you here alone. Besides, I want you to see where I live.”

There was something in his eyes—a quiet determination that made it impossible to argue.

---

The drive to Ronan’s mansion was a stark contrast to the peaceful forest we’d left behind. The towering trees gave way to sprawling highways, and soon the city skyline loomed ahead, all glass and steel against a pale blue sky.

Ronan’s mansion was nothing short of breathtaking. Set on a hill overlooking the city, it was an architectural masterpiece of modern design and elegance. The black iron gates swung open as we approached, and a meticulously manicured driveway led us to the entrance.

Two women stood waiting as we stepped out of the car. They wore simple but elegant uniforms, their hair neatly pulled back.

“Welcome back, Mr. Ronan,” one of them said with a polite smile.

“Thank you, Ivana,” Ronan replied, his tone warm but authoritative. “This is Selene. She’ll be staying here for now. Make sure she’s comfortable.”

The other maid, Lola, nodded and gave me a polite bow. “Of course, sir.”

“I need to head to the office,” Ronan said, turning to me. “Make yourself at home. Ivana and Lola will take care of anything you need.”

Before I could respond, he leaned in close, his voice softening. “Don’t overthink it. Just relax, okay?”

I nodded, though the idea of relaxing in a place like this felt impossible.

Ronan disappeared upstairs, and minutes later, he emerged dressed in a sharp suit that fit him perfectly. He looked every bit the powerful man I suspected he was, and it was a reminder of just how different our worlds were.

With one last reassuring smile, he was gone.

---

Ivana and Lola were kind, ensuring I had everything I needed. They showed me to a spacious guest room with a king-sized bed and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the city. It was beautiful but intimidating, like everything else in the mansion.

“Would you like something to eat?” Ivana asked as she set a fresh set of towels in the bathroom.

I hesitated. “Maybe just some tea.”

“Of course,” she said with a smile before disappearing down the hall.

I sat on the edge of the bed, trying to process everything. This place was like something out of a dream—or maybe a movie. The grandeur of it all made me feel small and out of place.

But before I could spiral into self-doubt, the sound of a car engine brought me to my feet. I moved to the window, peering out to see a sleek black car pulling into the driveway.

Who could that be?

I stepped out of the room, curiosity getting the better of me. The house was suddenly alive with activity. Ivana and Lola were rushing around, straightening cushions, adjusting vases, and muttering to each other in hushed tones.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

Ivana froze for a moment before turning to me, her face pale. “You should go back to your room.”

“Why? Who’s here?”

Lola’s eyes darted toward the front door, where the sound of approaching heels echoed through the marble foyer. “It’s Mr. Ronan’s mother.”

The words hit me like a jolt. His mother?

Before I could process what that meant, the front door swung open, and she stepped inside.

She was stunning—tall and poised, with flawless skin and an air of authority that demanded attention. Her dark hair was swept into an elegant chignon, and she wore a tailored navy dress that accentuated her regal demeanor.

Her eyes swept the room, sharp and assessing, until they landed on me.

“Who is this?” she asked, her voice crisp and unwavering.

I opened my mouth to respond, but Ivana quickly stepped forward, her posture submissive. “She’s no one, ma’am. Just a guest.”

Mrs. Ronan’s eyes narrowed, her gaze flickering between me and the maids. “A guest, hmm?”

Before she could say anything more, Lola grabbed my arm and gently but firmly guided me down the hall.

“You shouldn’t be here,” she whispered urgently. “Come on.”

“What’s going on?” I demanded, my heart racing.

“Just trust us,” Ivana said, her voice low. “You don’t want to upset her.”

They ushered me into my room and closed the door behind them.

“Stay here,” Lola said, her tone firm. “And don’t come out unless we tell you it’s safe.”

I stared at them, bewildered. “Why would I upset her? Who is she?”

Ivana hesitated, glancing at Lola before answering. “She’s Mr. Ronan’s mother. And she doesn’t take kindly to surprises.”

The weight of her words sank in as they left, closing the door behind them.

Ronan’s mother.

I sat on the edge of the bed, my thoughts racing. The way the maids had reacted to her arrival spoke volumes. This wasn’t just a visit—it was a warning.

But what did that mean for me?

---

The muffled sounds of voices carried through the walls, but I couldn’t make out what was being said. My stomach churned with unease. Was this why Ronan had been so insistent on bringing me here? Did he know his mother would be coming?

The questions swirled in my mind, each one more unsettling than the last.

I thought back to the moments we’d shared, the quiet strength he’d offered me. Was it all a lie? Or had he underestimated the situation as much as I had?

Either way, one thing was clear: being here wasn’t going to be easy.

And Ronan’s mother?

She was going to be a problem.

Epilogue Selene’s POVFive years. It felt like a lifetime since all the chaos and darkness that once consumed us. Standing here today, watching our daughter’s christening surrounded by everyone we love, I couldn’t help but smile at how far we’d come.I ran my hand gently over my growing belly, already feeling the soft flutter of life inside me—a promise of new beginnings. Two little boys at home kept me busy enough, but this pregnancy was a different kind of joy. Ronan was right by my side, as steady and caring as ever, balancing his protective nature with a tenderness I’d come to cherish deeply. Our house was always full of laughter now—shouts from the boys, their footsteps pounding as they chased each other around the garden, and the peaceful moments when they’d curl up in our laps. I caught Ronan’s eye and smiled. He squeezed my hand, a silent reminder that we were in this journey together, no matter what the future held. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Selene’s POVThe soft hum of the ocean waves outside our window was the first sound to greet me as I woke. Light filtered gently through the curtains, painting the room in hues of gold and rose. I turned slowly, feeling the warmth of Ronan’s body beside me. His steady breath, the quiet rise and fall of his chest—it was the kind of calm I hadn’t known I could feel again after the chaos.I reached out, tracing the curve of his jaw, and he opened his eyes, smiling that slow, knowing smile that always made my heart skip.“Good morning, Selene,” he whispered, his voice thick with sleep but full of something deeper — love, relief, hope.“Good morning,” I replied, feeling a shy flush creep up my neck. Here we were, finally, alone and free, together in this peaceful place far away from all the battles and pain. Our honeymoon felt like stepping into a new chapter — fragile, tentative, yet filled with a promise so powerful it almost made me dizzy. We’d fought so much to get here, to claim this

Ronan's POVThe sun bathed the entire pack grounds in warm gold as the final touches were being made to the twin wedding set-up. I stood in front of the large floral archway, the scent of roses and jasmine mixing with the earthy scent of the woods around us. Two platforms, two altars, one for Selene and me, the other for Keiran and Nelly. It felt surreal. After everything, betrayals, battles, and pain, we had all somehow made it here.I adjusted the collar of my ceremonial jacket and glanced to my side where Keiran stood. He looked calm, for once. Grounded. We exchanged a small nod—one that said everything words couldn’t. We’d been through hell together. Now we were stepping into something new. Something better. The music started to play.I turned toward the aisle, heart pounding—not from nerves, but from pure anticipation. My wolf stirred inside me, recognizing what was coming. The moment I saw Selene step out, my breath hitched. She was a vision. The white lace perfectly clung to

Keiran's POV The stars were just beginning to take their place in the sky when I finished lighting the last of the lanterns. The garden glowed softly, bathed in golds and warm whites. I took a step back, looking over everything—candles lined the stone path, flower petals scattered on the ground, and a small table set for two rested under the canopy of roses I had spent the entire day arranging.I exhaled slowly. This had to be perfect.Nikki stepped up beside me, brushing her hands together as she admired the scene. “You really went all out,” she said with a smirk. “I like this romantic version of you, Keiran.”I smiled faintly, heart racing for a different reason now. “Thanks for helping me pull it together.”She bumped her shoulder lightly against mine. “You deserve this. She deserves it too. Now… go get in position. I’ll bring her out.”I nodded and walked toward the center of the garden. The cool breeze brushed against my skin, and the scent of roses and jasmine swirled in the ai

Keiran's POV I sat there, silent, as the judgment was read aloud. The elders had taken their time, pretending to weigh justice with mercy. In reality, they’d already made up their minds before the sun rose today. This wasn’t about justice. This was about preserving what remained of the council’s image.“For the betrayal against the Empress, the royal family, and the werewolf kingdom,” Elder Marlowe began, her voice void of emotion, “Lord Edric shall be sentenced to life imprisonment. No visitation rights, no contact with the outside world. He will remain in isolation until the day he dies.”A murmur ran through the room. Some thought it was too harsh. Some, not harsh enough. But everyone turned to look at me, the son.The pity in their eyes disgusted me.I didn’t flinch. Didn’t move a muscle.I was supposed to be grateful for their compassion. For going “easy” on a traitor just because he shared my blood. I didn’t ask for that pity. I didn’t want it.I sat still until the hall emp

Elias's POVI didn’t even get a chance to breathe before the storm found me again. As soon as I stepped into the house, I was greeted by the smell of jasmine and cinnamon—my mother’s favorite scent. It used to comfort me. Now, it just made my stomach turn. The door closed behind me with a soft click, and I stood there in the silence of the hallway, letting my eyes drift up the staircase. I knew who was waiting.Sure enough, I heard heels clicking against the marble. “Elias,” came my mother’s voice, calm but firm. “We need to talk.”I sighed, dragging a hand through my hair. “Of course we do.”She appeared at the top of the stairs, regal in her dark robe, not a strand of hair out of place. Behind her, Lora stood like a perfectly painted portrait—smiling, glowing, too perfect.“I heard what happened,” Mother began as she descended the stairs. “You’re lucky to be alive. All of you.”“Selene and Luka weren't lucky to be alive,” I said, walking past her into the living room. “Don’t worr

Keiran's POV The ride to Ronan’s house was quiet—too quiet.Selene lay unconscious in the back seat, her head resting on Ronan’s shoulder. Luka sat beside her, barely clinging to consciousness. His skin was pale, and his body trembled every now and then. Elias sat in the front, eyes fixed ahead, his jaw clenched so tightly I could hear the grind of his teeth.Nelly didn’t say a word. Her hand remained in mine, fingers tangled tightly, like she knew I was one breath away from breaking.Because I was.My father—my own father—had been behind it all.The lies. The betrayals. The manipulations. He had helped Leo try to kill Selene and tried to turn us against each other. He’d betrayed our pack, our blood, our bond. And the worst part?He never once looked sorry.Ronan’s car finally pulled into the long driveway, the lights from the porch flickering against the dark sky. His house stood tall, familiar, but tonight it looked different, like even the walls were holding their breath. The

Leo’s POV I watched them begin to stir. Selene first. Her lashes fluttered. Her head turned weakly against the stained pillow. Luka followed, a sharp inhale jerking his chest upward as he groaned in pain. Gazelle’s body lay slumped in the corner like discarded meat, her once-living skin now starting to wither and crack like old paper. Her magic, what was left of it, had evaporated with her dying laugh still echoing faintly in my ears. She was gone. And now it was my turn. Selene blinked a few times, her gaze locking on mine as the haze cleared in her eyes. “What’s happening?” she croaked. I took a slow step toward her, letting the full weight of my hatred rise to the surface. “What’s happening?” I echoed mockingly. “You’re waking up to your end.” She frowned, her hand weakly reaching for the edge of the bed. “I’m going to take your powers, Selene,” I said, savoring the words. “Every drop. And when I’m done, there’ll be nothing left of you but a shell. You’ll die, forgotte

Ronan's POV We finally made it.The car skidded to a stop in front of a crooked stone mansion, its windows dark, its very presence soaked in dread. The scent of charred salt still hung in the air from the mix we’d been burning since we traced the spell. And the strand of Selene’s hair still pulsed faintly in Elias’s palm like it had a heartbeat of its own.“She’s in there,” Elias murmured, his voice low and grim. “But there’s blood.”I looked down. The floor leading to the front entrance was stained with it, dark, still fresh.Selene.A cold knot formed in my stomach.“We move carefully,” Elias said, lifting his hand to stop Keiran. “She might be hurt. We can’t risk doing anything that’ll get her killed. Or make Leo and Gazelle lash out.”Keiran clenched his fists. I watched him, the way Nelly stood by his side, holding his arm tightly like she was the only thing anchoring him.His father…I couldn’t imagine the kind of pain he was holding in. I’d seen betrayal before. I’d lived thr
