Celeste's POV
I was not ready and I knew it. Three days. That was all I had left before everything changed and no matter how many times I told myself I was fine, my wolf was not buying it. She had been restless since I woke up, turning over and over inside me the way she did when something big was coming. I lay there for a while staring at the ceiling before I accepted that sleep was done for the night. I sat on the edge of my bed and pressed my palms flat against my thighs, trying to think clearly. The bond hummed the way it always did, that constant awareness in the back of my chest that reminded me I was connected to four men whether I liked it or not. Aiden and Jayden on one side, pulling like they always did, strong enough that some mornings I felt them before I was fully awake. Mason and Jason on the other, quieter but there, steady in a way I had never quite known what to do with. I did not want four. I never had, but the bond did not ask what I wanted and my wolf had never once pretended otherwise. I grabbed my jacket, pulled it on and went to find my father. He was in the living room, phone in hand, glasses sitting low on his nose the way they always did when he was reading. Liam Reed looked up the second I walked through the door. He had this thing about him, my father, where he always knew before you said anything. Twenty four years of being his daughter and it still caught me off guard sometimes. "Sit down, Celeste." "I haven't even said anything." "I know." He put his phone down and waited. I dropped into the chair across from him and pulled my jacket around me even though the room was not cold. It took me a second to find the words and when I did they came out smaller than I intended. "I don't want this, Dad. I know I'm supposed to. I know what the bond means and what it makes me and I know the Moon Goddess doesn't get things wrong." "But if I'm being honest with you right now, I just want Aiden and Jayden. That's it. Two men, one bond, a normal life. Not four alphas and two packs and a title that hasn't existed in three hundred years. I don't want any of it." My father did not rush to answer. He leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees and looked at me the way he always did when he was about to say something he needed me to actually hear. "Do you know what a Fourfold Luna actually means, Celeste? Not the name. What it means." "It means I belong to four men instead of two." "It means you lead." His voice was calm and even. "The last woman chosen for this bond lived three centuries ago. And when that bond sealed, two packs became one unit under her authority. Not her mates' authority. Hers." "The Moon Goddess didn't put this in your blood because she needed to fill a role. She put it there because you are the only one who can carry it." I looked down at my hands. "That's a lot." "It is," he said. "I'm not going to tell you it isn't. But you didn't come here for me to make it smaller than it is. You came here because you needed someone to remind you who you are." I stayed quiet for a while after that. Outside I could hear the neighbourhood going about its morning, cars moving, someone's dog barking down the street. Normal sounds. Ordinary life. The kind I kept telling myself I wanted. But my wolf had gone still inside me. Not the restless pacing from earlier. Something calmer than that, like she had been waiting for this conversation and now that it was done she was ready. I took a slow breath. "Okay." My father nodded once. He did not make it into more than it was and that was exactly why I had come to him. *** The three days went faster than I expected. There were fittings and meetings and elders coming in and out with opinions and more information than I could hold in my head at once. My ceremonial dress was white and fitted and nothing I would have chosen on my own. I wore it anyway and told myself that was practice for everything else coming. On the morning of the ceremony I stood in the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror for longer than I needed to. I looked fine. Composed, put together, ready on the outside in all the ways that counted when people were watching. On the inside I was something else entirely but I had learned a long time ago that what's inside doesn't have to show on your face if you don't want it to. The grounds were full when I arrived. Both packs, Ashen Hollow and Ulfsang, arranged in the old formation around the bonding stone. The air felt charged in a way that made my wolf lift her head and pay attention. I walked through the center of it and kept my eyes forward. The four of them were already at the stone. Mason and Jason stood to the left, calm in the way they always seemed to be. Aiden and Jayden to the right, and even from where I was walking I felt the pull of the bond sharpening the way it always did when I was close to them. The elder started speaking. The words were old and formal, the kind that had been said over this same ground for generations, and I listened and breathed and told myself I was ready. Then I looked at Aiden. He was already looking at me. And something about the way he was standing, the set of his jaw, the look in his eyes, made the breath catch in my throat. Something was wrong. I did not know what yet. But I felt it and my wolf felt it and neither of us could look away.Celeste's POVJason pulled me in before I even finished stepping through the door. His mouth found mine immediately, warm and certain, and I giggled into the kiss before I could stop myself.I literally just said this. Standing in front of that mirror not five minutes ago, I said forty-five seconds at best, knowing full well he would do exactly this, and yet here I was, already losing the lip gloss and not even slightly upset about it.He walked me backward hard until my back hit the wall. The kiss turned rough right away, his tongue pushing deep, licking every bit of the gloss off my lips like he’d been waiting all day for it. I kissed him back just as hard, biting his bottom lip and sucking on it.“Knew you’d do that,” I whispered against his mouth. “Knew you’d lick it right off me.”He growled low in his chest and yanked my top over my head in one rough pull, throwing it aside. My bra followed just as fast. He shoved the cups down and his mouth was on my tits immediately, sucking
Celeste's POVThe estate felt quieter than usual when I walked in, the kind of quiet that settled differently when it was just one of them.I noticed it immediately, the particular stillness that came when only one of them was home. Jason was in the main sitting room when I found him, jacket off, sleeves rolled, looking like a man who was wrapping up something productive and only now allowing himself to stop.He looked up when I walked in. "Hey. How was it?""Good," I said, dropping my bag. "Long but good. Where is Mason?""Business ran over. He will be back much later tonight.""That is fine." I crossed the room and kissed him, warm and brief, and he held it for just a moment longer than I intended. "Neris cooked?""She did. But shower first." He gave me a look that was fond and faintly amused. "You have that end-of-day energy.""What does that mean?""It means go shower, Celeste." He said it plainly, like it was the most obvious instruction in the world. "Food will be waiting when
Celeste's POV"Yes," Vaelina said, without even a moment's hesitation. "Why not?"I stared at her. "That is your answer? Just yes, why not?""What other answer is there?" She leaned back in her chair with the full ease of someone who already made peace with the decision. "The thought of having both of them is already sending heat through my body just thinking about it." She fanned herself with one hand. "This is a problem. I need to find Rowan's number before I talk myself out of it."I laughed, shaking my head. "You are genuinely unhinged.""I prefer spontaneous."Before I could respond, Amaris appeared in the doorway, efficient and purposeful the way she always was when something needed handling."Celeste." She looked at me directly. "Torren is here to see you. He says it won't take long."I glanced up. "Tell him I'll be right out. Give me two minutes."Amaris nodded and disappeared.I looked at Vaelina. "Did you know he was coming today?""I didn't know anything," she said. "But u
Celeste's POVGetting back to Mercer and Vale after a week away felt strange in the small ways it always did.The familiar corridors, the coffee smell, the low morning hum of the office floor filling up around me. Everything exactly as I left it, which should have felt grounding but instead felt slightly like stepping back into a life that moved on without me and was now politely waiting for me to catch up.I settled at my desk, opened my files, and spent ten minutes pretending to review emails I was not yet ready to deal with.By the time Vaelina arrived I was on my second cup of coffee and significantly more functional. She spotted me the moment she walked through the door. She clearly waited for this since the moment I sent that message saying I was back, because she came straight across the floor without stopping at her own desk first, pulled out the chair beside me and sat down with the energy of someone who was done waiting, thoroughly done, for three whole days."Tell me every
Jayden's POVAiden was still looking at me like I said something alarming."Take a breath," I said. "It is not what you are thinking.""Then tell me what it is.""It is not about us." I kept my voice even. "The marriage offer is for Vivian."He blinked. Then the tension in his jaw loosened, just slightly. "Vivian.""Vivian," I confirmed. He turned and looked across the garden to where Jace was still sitting on the bench, watching us with the quiet attention of someone who already decided he was not going to miss whatever this was. Aiden raised a hand in his direction. Jace lifted his chin in acknowledgment and stayed exactly where he was, which was typical."We will talk later," Aiden said to him."I will be here," Jace said, and picked up his drink. We walked toward the main building together, Aiden falling into step beside me. His expression settled quickly into something more considered. I knew his exact pace when he was processing something significant, and this was clearly that
Aiden's POVThe garden at Ashen Hollow was one of the few places I could think without half the pack finding a reason to appear. It was not a quiet place by nature. Birds, wind cutting through the trees, the distant sounds of the grounds staff moving through their morning. But it was open, and open was exactly what I needed when my head was running faster than I could settle it.A full hour passed before Jace found me.He dropped onto the bench across from me and took a moment just looking at me, with the expression he kept specifically for things he found genuinely amusing at my expense."You look terrible," he said finally."Thank you.""Worse than usual. Something happened.""Is that a question?""It is an observation." He leaned forward, elbows on his knees. "What happened?"I looked at him for a moment. Then I told him about the meeting at Mercer and Vale. All of it. The account, the way we walked in expecting a standard business interaction, the way the room shifted the moment
