Chapter 199

The Human Lands

Nicolas’s POV

Clara was still quiet that morning.

She sat on the edge of the bed in one of my shirts, staring at her hands the same way she had been doing for days now. I knew exactly what was going on in her head. The pregnancy. Or rather, the lack of it. It kept eating at her even after I told her not to overthink it.

I walked over and crouched in front of her.

“You’re doing it again,” I said.

She didn’t look up. “Doing what?”

“Thinking too much.”

Chapter 215 The Human Lands Ruby stood with her arms loosely crossed, still wearing that same unapologetic smile. Nicolas’s frown deepened. “I’m asking you a question, Ruby. Why did you bring him here? Why not take him to Micha’s place or somewhere else?” Ruby straightened, the playfulness fading just a little. “Firstly, I don’t know where Micha lives. Secondly, Lucio is a lovely boy. You’ll like him.” Nicolas shook his head. “I’m not saying he isn’t a lovely boy. My point is why is he *here*? What business does he have in my home? I already told Levi and Erin I want nothing to do with them. I am done fighting wars. I have a daughter now. I am not interested in being dragged into another battle.” Ruby’s voice stayed calm. “Roosevelt hasn’t shown up since we lost his body. Maybe someone took it and hid it.” Nicolas’s expression hardened. “No. No one took the body. Roosevelt is waiting for all of you to lower your guard. Then he will attack the way he always doe

  • The Rejected Goddess   Lucio

Chapter 214The Vampire RealmIt had been five years.Five full years since Roosevelt’s body disappeared from the tomb, and still he had made no move against any of the realms. Levi and Erin had slowly begun to believe that someone must have simply taken the body. There was no way Roosevelt could be alive and remain this quiet. The man they remembered would have already burned half the world by now in search of revenge.Even so, the silence never felt completely safe. Levi still checked the old seals from time to time. Erin still woke from occasional dreams where crimson eyes stared at her from the dark. They simply stopped talking about it out loud.Because of that long quiet, the Goldrens had relaxed. Training became lighter. The constant edge of readiness faded. Life settled into something almost ordinary.Theo flew through the corridor in his small form and knocked rapidly on Ruby’s door. “Ruby! Lucio is here to see you! Queen Erin is here too!”Ruby yanked the door open so fast

Chapter 213 The Abyss Arin forced her heartbeat to steady. Roosevelt stood in the doorway, crimson eyes moving between her and Goddess Evelith with clear suspicion. The silence stretched just long enough to become dangerous. Arin spoke first, keeping her voice calm and natural. “Rose’s birthday is only a few months away. I came to speak with Goddess Evelith so we could start planning something special for her. She said she would handle most of it.” Evelith gave a smooth nod of agreement. Roosevelt studied them both for another moment, uncertainty still written across his face, then finally inclined his head. He turned fully to his mother. “I have questions for you. What are you hiding from me?” Evelith’s expression shifted into perfect mild surprise. “Hiding? My son, I am not hiding anything.” Roosevelt exhaled through his nose, clearly unconvinced. “It will not end well if I have to discover it myself. Why do you refuse to let my creatures enter the Abyss?” Evelith a

Chapter 212 The Abyss Roosevelt had noticed it for days. Arin barely spoke to him. She answered when he asked direct questions, but her real attention always belonged to Rose. She smiled for the child, softened for the child, spent entire days with the child. With him she remained careful and distant, as if she were still deciding whether he was safe to approach. He did not like it. That morning he walked out into the wide courtyard and summoned Shadow Scale with a single sharp thought. The massive black dragon descended in a rush of wind and landed heavily in front of him, purple-tinged eyes glowing. “Take the child,” Roosevelt ordered quietly. “Fly her around the realm. Keep her safe. Do not return until nightfall.” Shadow Scale lowered its head in acknowledgment. A moment later it launched itself toward the training grounds where Rose was practicing. The little girl looked up, eyes lighting with pure excitement the moment she saw the dragon. She climbed onto its back without

  • The Rejected Goddess   Distance

Chapter 211 The Vampire Realm Erin’s POV The empty tomb still haunted me. Levi and I returned to our room in silence. The moment the door closed, the weight of what we had seen settled fully on my chest. Roosevelt’s body was gone. Whether someone had taken him or he had truly awakened, the result was the same — the monster we had sealed away was no longer under our control. “We have to tell the others,” I said quietly. Levi nodded and reached for his phone. After a few moments, Nicolas’s voice came through, calm but already slightly guarded. “What is it?” Levi didn’t waste time. “Roosevelt’s body is gone. The tomb is empty. We don’t know if he was taken or if he woke up.” There was a long silence on the other end. When Nicolas spoke again, his voice had gone cold. “Look… I don’t want to get involved in another war. Clara is pregnant. I’m not putting my family at risk. You lost him — you find him yourselves.” Levi closed his eyes for a second. “I understand. I’m sorry fo

Chapter 210 The Vampire RealmErin’s POVThe palace felt quiet after our return from the Elven Realm.Levi and I sat together in our room, the afternoon light filtering softly through the curtains. For a while we simply talked, the kind of easy conversation we hadn’t been able to have in a long time.“I keep thinking about the lilac sky,” I said, resting a hand over my stomach. “And Louise. She looked so happy. I want to visit them again once the baby is older.”Levi smiled and placed his hand over mine. “We will. I’m looking forward to all of it… watching you carry our child, seeing the baby grow. It still doesn’t feel completely real.”I leaned against him, enjoying the calm. “It feels real to me. And peaceful. For once, everything feels—”A sudden, heavy knock interrupted me.Levi and I both frowned. The knock came again, harder this time.“Who is it?” Levi called.Eric’s voice answered from the other side, tight with urgency. “It’s me. Something has happened. Both of you ne
