LOGINTori's POV
The house was vast and wide as we walked through it. I could not stop staring around, wondering if I would somehow get lost in this house now that it would be my new home. This was what opulence was—the golden crests that adorned the walls and the exotic flower vases that held a bundle of roses. He walked briskly, making me try my hardest to keep up with him as he turned a corner, his back lean and taut as though he was not striding faster than any average person. The room he led me to was painted blue. It was a nursery that held different kinds of toys and different pictures of a smiling boy and Adrian. I stared at one picture long and hard. The man in that portrait, holding the giggling boy, was a far cry from the man that now led me into the room. I wanted to ask if he was a twin, but somehow I knew he would not take that lightly. In the room sat a boy, his back turned against us, but his dark hair unmistakably like his father's. “Kylian, it’s good to see that you are awake,” Alpha Adrian said, his voice carrying a particular softness that I did not know it could. The boy whipped around quickly, dashing into his arms as he grinned from ear to ear. I could see the smile that also blossomed on the face of Adrian. So this was the man he was with his son. “I would like you to meet someone. Her name is…” he said, turning to look at me as though realizing he did not know my name. I gave the boy a small smile as I bent down to his height, outstretching my hands. “My name is Tori, and it’s so nice to meet you, Kylian,” I said to him. I did not know what I was expecting. I knew I was obviously not expecting a big hug from him too, but I was also not expecting the scowl that he gave me. “Who is she, Dad?” he asked, ignoring my outstretched hands and talking about me as though I was not in the room with them. “She is your new babysitter. She will be around to keep you company and make sure you do your homework and feed you,” Alpha Adrian said. “She wants to do everything that Mum always does? Are you bringing her here to replace Mum?” he asked. I swallowed. This would be harder than I thought. Adrian also did not seem to know how to answer the question, and so the boy continued. “I don’t like her. I can do my homework myself, and I can feed myself. I just want my mum,” he said, his voice breaking at the last part, and my heart went out to him. What sort of mother abandons her little child without a single word? I could not imagine myself doing it to the baby in my womb, even though I hated his father. “Kylian, you won’t be talking like that to her, okay? She will be staying to help you. She is not replacing your mum, and I already told you, your mum will be back soon,” Alpha Adrian finally said. The boy just looked at me, his eyes holding a little anger. He turned back to look at his father and, without a single word to either of us, went back to the table where he had sat before. I heard a small sigh escape Adrian’s lips as he said to him, “We will be back soon. And I will get you that toy you said you wanted. How does that sound?” he asked, obviously trying to win him over. No response. He motioned to me to follow him, and I obliged, the rejection of the little child still stinging my heart, reminding me a little too much of the man that rejected me a few days ago too. “He will come around soon. His mother’s absence has made a mark on his mood, but I know he will snap out of it soon. We will go get your belongings, and then you will return back here. I have a few meetings to attend to. You should try taking him to the park—he loves that,” Alpha Adrian said, dishing out all the rules without even turning to look at me. I took note of every single word he said, making a mental note to pick up a few chocolates for the boy on my way back. We had barely gotten into the car when I heard a shrill voice call from behind, the sound sickening me to my stomach. “Baby! Where have you been all throughout the night?” the voice said. The owner was a tall, brown-skinned woman with boobs too big for the shirt she was wearing and the skirt that she seemed to have intentionally rolled up to her laps—too tight for comfort. I turned to look at Alpha Adrian, who had a look of boredom on his face. Was this, perhaps, his wife? Had she come back? My heart thudded at the prospect of losing the job I just got. It sank into me. She pulled him into a sloppy kiss, trying to get an emotion from him, but nothing. He did not reciprocate, neither did he touch her. She seemed to scoff in anger as she pulled away from him, her gaze finally settling on me. “And who is this?” she asked, her eyes holding disgust. I knew I did not look my best—from my messy hair that I did not have the time to comb out, down to my clothes that probably smelt like booze. “She is the new babysitter for Kylian,” Adrian said. I did not know why I had expected him not to answer, but when he did, it left a twinge of anger in me. She gave me a once-over, walking towards me, her boobs shaking with each step she took. She stretched out a perfectly manicured hand to me and said, “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Emily, Adrian’s girlfriend,” she said.Chapter 155. Tori's POV Larissa advised that we shouldn't just enter into the pack yet. We had to observe and scan the area. We needed to know the kind of threat that we were under. "There are capable young men in this pack, surely there is no way that the rogues would have taken over everyone." I whispered to Larissa, who was sitting on the ground. "Well, we finished the burial rites for my father. No one is prepared for any kind of war. It's low for the rogues to attack us in a time like this, but I'm not surprised since they don't have any morality." I saw them with their weapons, and I saw the pack members tied up in groups of fives. The fucking rogues even broke into the storehouse and are wasting all the grains and wines. They poured the wine on the heads of the pack members and throws the bottles against the walls. I was biting down on my fingers as I thought of best way to go about this. I wasn't sure how my powers worked, if it could disappoint me
Chapter 154. Tori's POV My mother's gift. I had it all along? Was that why this man was aiming his gun at me for a whole minute, and he hadn't pulled the trigger? Dante was trying so hard that veins appeared on his neck and head, but all his strain yielded nothing. I shut my eyes and imagined that the rifle was as hot as glowing coals and in that same breath, I heard Dante scream as he dropped his gun. "Dante, what's the matter with you?" "I don't know. The handle just got so hot. This is weird, I think this lady is a fucking witch! She has casted her evil spells on us!" Another one stepped forward and pulled his arrow directly at my head. "This is freakish, and I don't want any part of it. I will kill her once and for all, and let's head back to the rest of the people." "Please, no!" Larissa cried out. "She has a young son, you can't kill her." "Shut up, Larissa, or I send you to where your stupid father and brother went." I briefly shut my ey
Chapter 153. Tori's POV Blood. More than I had seen in a while. My chest felt tight, and even though I wanted to stop the bleeding, I couldn't bring myself to move. Larissa winced as she tried to pull out the arrow, but it was so stuck, and she was only able to break out the end. I could hear voices approaching, and my heart started to lung heavily against my chest. She looked at me again, like I was crazy this time around. "Run!" She repeated, and it was like she gave power to my limps, because I ran. I ran even though the broad leaves slapped my face, and roots that are sticking out tried to trip me. I ran, but I didn't run that far. When I was sure that I was at a safe distance, I stopped and hid behind a tree. My breath was heavy, since I wasn't the most athletic person in the world, but I held my hand over my mouth, before I could rat myself out. Three men appeared and the whistled and encircled around Larissa, like she was a priced animal that was
Chapter 152. Tori's POV I couldn't move my feet again, and my legs suddenly felt like they weren't mine. Did she just said that my mother didn't die at child birth? Since I found out the truth the about my mother, I beat my hand across my chest and blamed myself for her death. I was so sure that I had so much bad luck that was why she died. Only to hear that someone else was behind this? Fucking Luna dowager?! Larissa was looking at my face, waiting for a reaction (perhaps she was hoping for a violent one), but I was just standing and staring. "Hey, are you okay?" She snapped her fingers in front of me, as she she wasn't to get me out of a trance. "How did my mother die?" I murmured in a voice that I couldn't recognize as mine. Larissa pressed her hand against her forehead. "Tori, that's not a pleasant story for all of us. It's in the past, let's leave it there." "You weren't the one who had to grow up without the love of a mother. It's my trauma, and i
Chapter 151. Tori's POV I couldn't sleep on my bed as I thought of the task in front of me. I vividly remembered my vision, so therefore, I knew that this wasn't a mistake. I was going to become the Alpha Luna, no matter what Larissa and her mother thought. Was I to reject it, and get the hell out of here, or was I supposed to accept that this was a gift from the goddess and my father? With that thought bouncing around in my head, I finally slept off. I didn't know how long I slept for, but when I woke up, there was a heavy banging on the door– driving a terrible headache into my head. "I'm coming!" I screamed in annoyance as I walked to the door in a zigzag manner. When I opened the door, it was Larissa that was standing at my door. I thought I was dreaming, because when I looked out of the window, it was still dark outside. Was she crazy? "You were sleeping too deep in there. I actually thought that you were dead." She says with sarcasm. "Well, you w
Chapter 150. Adrian's POV "For the love of God, I have been nothing but kind and civil with you people, but if you try to offer my fianceè money like she is some kind of money-hungry non-entity, I will burn this fucking place to the ground." Luna dowager gasps and place her hands over her chest. "Alpha Adrian, how can you say such an awful thing to us? After we have housed and fed you and her for days!" "Oh, please, I'm a millionaire! I can literally go down the town and buy Tori a house now! Don't act like you are a saint who has done a good deed. You were literally trying to kick Tori out right after the ceremony!" Luna dowager didn't like the fact that I was standing up to her, she was so used to everyone kissing her ass, and I wasn't willing to do that. Tori was grabbing my hand, silently begging me to stop, but I wasn't willing. Larissa was quiet too, but I could tell by the look on her face that she shared the same sentiment as her mother. They thought
