LOGINTorí's POV
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I stared at her, her lips puckered up with a smirk as though she loved the look of surprise on my face. Alpha Adrian cleared his throat, obviously sensing the discomfort that surrounded me. “Emily, you should go now,” he said, his voice holding the same nonchalance it did when talking to me. That seemed to comfort me. She was not that important to him. She turned to look at him, her eyes temporarily leaving mine, and I could almost sigh with relief. I was only a few seconds away from crumbling under the weight of her stare. “But why, baby? I have not even seen Kylian. He is inside, is he not? I will just pop in and say hi before leaving,” she said, but Adrian stopped her again. “Kylian would like to be left alone for now. And I don’t want you hanging around my son when I’m not around. You can come back later,” he said. She scowled a little but shrugged, walking toward him and planting another sloppy kiss on his lips, her eyes practically stripping him naked. “I will be back later in the evening, babe, and maybe then, we can have this conversation more…” She trailed off, turning to give me a once-over before she finished her statement. “…privately.” The car seemed stuffy all of a sudden when we finally got into it, Alpha Adrian speeding in the direction of the hotel. “You will be seeing Emily a lot more around the house, so get used to her presence,” he suddenly said, jolting me out of my uncomfortable thoughts. I waited for him to add something—maybe an explanation of who she was or why she looked at me like an opponent—but none came. I cleared my throat. “Is she really your girlfriend?” I asked. “That is not in your place to ask. Your job in the house concerns Kylian and not me. She comes to visit me, so as long as she is not with Kylian, you don’t have a right to ask about her,” he said. I gaped at him, my mouth open for what felt like minutes before I finally closed it. How was he so cold to me? The car only got stuffier, and when finally I saw the largesse of the hotel, I could almost jump for joy. He had barely stopped the car before I dashed out, muttering some excuse about checking in before rushing away. I could feel myself suffocating with the amount of time I spent in that suffocating car, and when my lungs finally got a whiff of the breeze outside, they were grateful. Even though I had run up to the receptionist, he still managed to catch up with me, not one hair out of place, bringing with him the same suffocating air I was trying to escape. I tried to focus on the cool steel of the keys in my hands as I walked toward the elevator, but it was so hard to concentrate when he was so close, his natural minty scent stinging my nose. “Tori! Oh, really, it is you. What a pleasant surprise to run into you here,” the voice said, and I paled internally. It was a voice I recognized anywhere, mostly because I was so used to hearing it at every party Alex deemed fit to throw. I was accustomed to the fake laughs and her fake batting of lashes as she pointed out my flaws in organizing the party—the too-little drinks, the missed spot on the floor, or perhaps an out-of-place balloon. She was the wife of Alex’s best friend, Micheal. And while Michael was vile, Alex was calm—or at least I thought so, until he left me for my best friend. I turned around, giving her a fake smile of my own. “Hi Michelle, it’s such a pleasure to see you again after all this time. I hope Michael is well,” I asked, even though secretly I was hoping Micheal had somehow ended up on his deathbed. She batted her fake lashes at me as usual, toying with her synthetic hair. “Oh, he is fine. He sent me to come pick up a few documents from one of his clients. But you must have seen my shock the other day!” she said. I pursed my lips. “What other day?” I asked. “Oh, you know, at the party Alex threw. He officially announced your best friend as his new wife, and I was shocked. I wondered why he would do such a thing. You are such a lovely girl, Tori, and it’s just so sad.” But I could see through her fake lashes and chemically bleached teeth. She was just a sniveling gossip, looking for the next best news she could share with her friends. If anyone was happy about my downfall, I was willing to bet she was part of them. “Well, it’s what happened. I’m no longer in charge of the parties, so you can go complain to my best friend now whenever the food is not to your liking,” I said. My heart ached. The fact that while I was drinking myself numb, he was partying made me sick. I wished the elevator would move faster, just so I could escape her eyes and curled-up lips. Her gaze finally settled on Alpha Adrian, and she immediately seemed unnerved. She gave me a fake laugh as she looked at me. “I was wondering why he would do such a thing, but now I can see why. I hope you have a good relationship with Alpha Adrian.” Just then, the hotel elevators chimed, and she squeezed her way out. My heart was thudding, and slowly, I could not feel myself breathing. My vision was lined with black dots as I struggled to remember how to breathe.Chapter 155. Tori's POV Larissa advised that we shouldn't just enter into the pack yet. We had to observe and scan the area. We needed to know the kind of threat that we were under. "There are capable young men in this pack, surely there is no way that the rogues would have taken over everyone." I whispered to Larissa, who was sitting on the ground. "Well, we finished the burial rites for my father. No one is prepared for any kind of war. It's low for the rogues to attack us in a time like this, but I'm not surprised since they don't have any morality." I saw them with their weapons, and I saw the pack members tied up in groups of fives. The fucking rogues even broke into the storehouse and are wasting all the grains and wines. They poured the wine on the heads of the pack members and throws the bottles against the walls. I was biting down on my fingers as I thought of best way to go about this. I wasn't sure how my powers worked, if it could disappoint me
Chapter 154. Tori's POV My mother's gift. I had it all along? Was that why this man was aiming his gun at me for a whole minute, and he hadn't pulled the trigger? Dante was trying so hard that veins appeared on his neck and head, but all his strain yielded nothing. I shut my eyes and imagined that the rifle was as hot as glowing coals and in that same breath, I heard Dante scream as he dropped his gun. "Dante, what's the matter with you?" "I don't know. The handle just got so hot. This is weird, I think this lady is a fucking witch! She has casted her evil spells on us!" Another one stepped forward and pulled his arrow directly at my head. "This is freakish, and I don't want any part of it. I will kill her once and for all, and let's head back to the rest of the people." "Please, no!" Larissa cried out. "She has a young son, you can't kill her." "Shut up, Larissa, or I send you to where your stupid father and brother went." I briefly shut my ey
Chapter 153. Tori's POV Blood. More than I had seen in a while. My chest felt tight, and even though I wanted to stop the bleeding, I couldn't bring myself to move. Larissa winced as she tried to pull out the arrow, but it was so stuck, and she was only able to break out the end. I could hear voices approaching, and my heart started to lung heavily against my chest. She looked at me again, like I was crazy this time around. "Run!" She repeated, and it was like she gave power to my limps, because I ran. I ran even though the broad leaves slapped my face, and roots that are sticking out tried to trip me. I ran, but I didn't run that far. When I was sure that I was at a safe distance, I stopped and hid behind a tree. My breath was heavy, since I wasn't the most athletic person in the world, but I held my hand over my mouth, before I could rat myself out. Three men appeared and the whistled and encircled around Larissa, like she was a priced animal that was
Chapter 152. Tori's POV I couldn't move my feet again, and my legs suddenly felt like they weren't mine. Did she just said that my mother didn't die at child birth? Since I found out the truth the about my mother, I beat my hand across my chest and blamed myself for her death. I was so sure that I had so much bad luck that was why she died. Only to hear that someone else was behind this? Fucking Luna dowager?! Larissa was looking at my face, waiting for a reaction (perhaps she was hoping for a violent one), but I was just standing and staring. "Hey, are you okay?" She snapped her fingers in front of me, as she she wasn't to get me out of a trance. "How did my mother die?" I murmured in a voice that I couldn't recognize as mine. Larissa pressed her hand against her forehead. "Tori, that's not a pleasant story for all of us. It's in the past, let's leave it there." "You weren't the one who had to grow up without the love of a mother. It's my trauma, and i
Chapter 151. Tori's POV I couldn't sleep on my bed as I thought of the task in front of me. I vividly remembered my vision, so therefore, I knew that this wasn't a mistake. I was going to become the Alpha Luna, no matter what Larissa and her mother thought. Was I to reject it, and get the hell out of here, or was I supposed to accept that this was a gift from the goddess and my father? With that thought bouncing around in my head, I finally slept off. I didn't know how long I slept for, but when I woke up, there was a heavy banging on the door– driving a terrible headache into my head. "I'm coming!" I screamed in annoyance as I walked to the door in a zigzag manner. When I opened the door, it was Larissa that was standing at my door. I thought I was dreaming, because when I looked out of the window, it was still dark outside. Was she crazy? "You were sleeping too deep in there. I actually thought that you were dead." She says with sarcasm. "Well, you w
Chapter 150. Adrian's POV "For the love of God, I have been nothing but kind and civil with you people, but if you try to offer my fianceè money like she is some kind of money-hungry non-entity, I will burn this fucking place to the ground." Luna dowager gasps and place her hands over her chest. "Alpha Adrian, how can you say such an awful thing to us? After we have housed and fed you and her for days!" "Oh, please, I'm a millionaire! I can literally go down the town and buy Tori a house now! Don't act like you are a saint who has done a good deed. You were literally trying to kick Tori out right after the ceremony!" Luna dowager didn't like the fact that I was standing up to her, she was so used to everyone kissing her ass, and I wasn't willing to do that. Tori was grabbing my hand, silently begging me to stop, but I wasn't willing. Larissa was quiet too, but I could tell by the look on her face that she shared the same sentiment as her mother. They thought
