LOGINTori's POV
I could almost feel his eyes burrowing holes into the back of my head as he stared at me for what felt like hours, but in reality was just a few seconds. “So, what do you say? Is the big Alpha about to reject me?” I asked him, my voice purring and my speech slurred. He pulled closer to me, his breath fanning my lips as he sniffed me, moving closer to my ear, filling me with an indescribable need to have his lips between my teeth. Then he slowly whispered into my ear, “You are so drunk. If you have another drink, you might end up throwing up all over me. Get up while I’m still being civil.” I scowled at him, my cheeks heating up as I got up. Who did he think he was anyway? I huffed, walking back to my seat and ordering more drinks, downing them in single gulps, very much aware that his eyes were still trained on me. He had no right to control me, and I did not care about what he might think. My head grew foggy the more I drank, and I forgot about everything—about my cheating husband, about my now-pregnant belly, about the hot stranger that still sat beside me. And all I wanted to do at that moment was sleep. So I laid down on the ice-cold bar table, resting my head in between my hands and closing my eyes. I had felt my body being lifted up, but I chalked it off to my drunken state, not bothering to get up. The first thing I felt the next morning was the banging headache— and then the soft, plush bed in which I now lay. I opened my eyes, looking around cautiously. This was nothing like my hotel room. How had I gotten here? The more I tried to remember the happenings of the previous night, the more my head groaned, making me halt my thoughts. Just when I was certain I could not deal with the suspense and headache any longer, the door opened, and a tall figure walked in, a tray containing some medicine and a cup of water in his hands. Now that the drink had worn off, I finally stared at him in horror. He was the most feared Alpha in all of America. My husband had revered him, and when he attended parties, he somehow managed to command the attention of every living being in the room. Alpha Adrian. As if by divine intervention, the happenings of the previous day washed over me quickly, making my cheeks instantly heat up as I remembered it. I am never going near a bar ever again. “Here are some pils. It will help with the headache I know you have now,” he said, voice cold and soothing, washing over me like spring water. I swallowed, trying to hide the embarrassed smile I had on my face, gratefully taking the pill and popping it into my mouth. He stared at me with an unreadable expression, making me falter under his gaze. “Alpha Adrian, I’m so sorry about… about yesterday night. I swear I had no idea who you were, and I—” I was beginning to say, but he interrupted me. “It’s fine. I could tell at one glance that you were drunk,” he said curtly. I cleared my throat awkwardly, wondering why he was still standing there. Then he suddenly spoke. “Get dressed and leave when you are done,” he said, turning on his heels to leave. I sighed, even though I did not mean for it to be audible, and he turned back to look at me. “Is that going to be a problem?” he asked. I wanted to blurt out about my stupid husband and how going back to the hotel would only make me feel the increasing loneliness, but I stopped myself, shaking my head instead. He eyed me for a minute, as though he was contemplating his next decision. “Do you have a good standing with kids?” he asked. I was taken aback for a while. Had he somehow noticed that I was pregnant? “Well, yes… I used to help the kids back at my pack make cookies,” I said, unsure of the question. He nodded his head as though the answer had satisfied him. “I need a nanny—a babysitter,” he said. When I did not say anything, he continued, “My wife—she is out of town, and I have no idea where she is or when she would be back. And my son is just four. I can’t take care of him myself because I have to work. I take it that you don’t have anywhere else to go, so can you work for me as his babysitter? I would pay you handsomely for it.” I thought for a while, still processing the information. What did I have to lose if I worked for the most powerful Alpha on the continent? I had nowhere to go and no source of living as it was. I was sure I had spent all the money I had with me at the bar. There was no way I could survive outside now. “Okay, I would take up the job offer,” I said, my voice small. He nodded his head, as though that was the most reassuring news he had heard in a while. “Do you have to go pick up your bags somewhere, or are you good like this?” he asked me. “I have a few personal belongings in the hotel where I stay. I would love to pick them up,” I said. I had left a good number of my possessions in Alex’s house when I left. Most of the jewelry and the clothes he had gotten for me when we were still in love—I had left them, as I could not bear the memories that each item held. “That is fine. We will leave soon then. But first, I want you to meet my son,” he said.Chapter 155. Tori's POV Larissa advised that we shouldn't just enter into the pack yet. We had to observe and scan the area. We needed to know the kind of threat that we were under. "There are capable young men in this pack, surely there is no way that the rogues would have taken over everyone." I whispered to Larissa, who was sitting on the ground. "Well, we finished the burial rites for my father. No one is prepared for any kind of war. It's low for the rogues to attack us in a time like this, but I'm not surprised since they don't have any morality." I saw them with their weapons, and I saw the pack members tied up in groups of fives. The fucking rogues even broke into the storehouse and are wasting all the grains and wines. They poured the wine on the heads of the pack members and throws the bottles against the walls. I was biting down on my fingers as I thought of best way to go about this. I wasn't sure how my powers worked, if it could disappoint me
Chapter 154. Tori's POV My mother's gift. I had it all along? Was that why this man was aiming his gun at me for a whole minute, and he hadn't pulled the trigger? Dante was trying so hard that veins appeared on his neck and head, but all his strain yielded nothing. I shut my eyes and imagined that the rifle was as hot as glowing coals and in that same breath, I heard Dante scream as he dropped his gun. "Dante, what's the matter with you?" "I don't know. The handle just got so hot. This is weird, I think this lady is a fucking witch! She has casted her evil spells on us!" Another one stepped forward and pulled his arrow directly at my head. "This is freakish, and I don't want any part of it. I will kill her once and for all, and let's head back to the rest of the people." "Please, no!" Larissa cried out. "She has a young son, you can't kill her." "Shut up, Larissa, or I send you to where your stupid father and brother went." I briefly shut my ey
Chapter 153. Tori's POV Blood. More than I had seen in a while. My chest felt tight, and even though I wanted to stop the bleeding, I couldn't bring myself to move. Larissa winced as she tried to pull out the arrow, but it was so stuck, and she was only able to break out the end. I could hear voices approaching, and my heart started to lung heavily against my chest. She looked at me again, like I was crazy this time around. "Run!" She repeated, and it was like she gave power to my limps, because I ran. I ran even though the broad leaves slapped my face, and roots that are sticking out tried to trip me. I ran, but I didn't run that far. When I was sure that I was at a safe distance, I stopped and hid behind a tree. My breath was heavy, since I wasn't the most athletic person in the world, but I held my hand over my mouth, before I could rat myself out. Three men appeared and the whistled and encircled around Larissa, like she was a priced animal that was
Chapter 152. Tori's POV I couldn't move my feet again, and my legs suddenly felt like they weren't mine. Did she just said that my mother didn't die at child birth? Since I found out the truth the about my mother, I beat my hand across my chest and blamed myself for her death. I was so sure that I had so much bad luck that was why she died. Only to hear that someone else was behind this? Fucking Luna dowager?! Larissa was looking at my face, waiting for a reaction (perhaps she was hoping for a violent one), but I was just standing and staring. "Hey, are you okay?" She snapped her fingers in front of me, as she she wasn't to get me out of a trance. "How did my mother die?" I murmured in a voice that I couldn't recognize as mine. Larissa pressed her hand against her forehead. "Tori, that's not a pleasant story for all of us. It's in the past, let's leave it there." "You weren't the one who had to grow up without the love of a mother. It's my trauma, and i
Chapter 151. Tori's POV I couldn't sleep on my bed as I thought of the task in front of me. I vividly remembered my vision, so therefore, I knew that this wasn't a mistake. I was going to become the Alpha Luna, no matter what Larissa and her mother thought. Was I to reject it, and get the hell out of here, or was I supposed to accept that this was a gift from the goddess and my father? With that thought bouncing around in my head, I finally slept off. I didn't know how long I slept for, but when I woke up, there was a heavy banging on the door– driving a terrible headache into my head. "I'm coming!" I screamed in annoyance as I walked to the door in a zigzag manner. When I opened the door, it was Larissa that was standing at my door. I thought I was dreaming, because when I looked out of the window, it was still dark outside. Was she crazy? "You were sleeping too deep in there. I actually thought that you were dead." She says with sarcasm. "Well, you w
Chapter 150. Adrian's POV "For the love of God, I have been nothing but kind and civil with you people, but if you try to offer my fianceè money like she is some kind of money-hungry non-entity, I will burn this fucking place to the ground." Luna dowager gasps and place her hands over her chest. "Alpha Adrian, how can you say such an awful thing to us? After we have housed and fed you and her for days!" "Oh, please, I'm a millionaire! I can literally go down the town and buy Tori a house now! Don't act like you are a saint who has done a good deed. You were literally trying to kick Tori out right after the ceremony!" Luna dowager didn't like the fact that I was standing up to her, she was so used to everyone kissing her ass, and I wasn't willing to do that. Tori was grabbing my hand, silently begging me to stop, but I wasn't willing. Larissa was quiet too, but I could tell by the look on her face that she shared the same sentiment as her mother. They thought
