Chapter Thirty-One

Rae dreamt of Kara again.

She hated that, because then she’d think about her sister for the whole day. She avoided thinking about any of her relatives for her own well-being. She didn’t want another depressive episode. She was acclimatizing to her new reality and didn’t need any unnecessary hindrance. Thinking of home was never good for her.

She tore the piece of meat she was eating in two easily with her fingers. Juice dripped down the side of her hand. She placed it in her mouth and chewed. Although there was nothing particularly wrong with the meat, she was tired of eating it day after day. She knew how ungrateful she sounded but she wished there was more variety. At home, she loved eating macaroni and cheese and jacket potatoes. Salads weren’t everyone else’s favorites but they were hers.
