Chapter Thirty-Two

“Rae,” someone was whispering her name. “Rae.”

She cracked an eye open. It was dark and the door to the caravan was open. Panic kicked in but she calmed down instantly when she saw Keegan standing beside her. Her heart was racing. She sat up slowly. She felt immensely tired. “What’s the matter? Where were you?”

“Gone,” he answered. “I’m back now. Were you worried?”

Rae nodded. Her head hurt from doing so and she didn’t know why. He kept looking at her face and refused to look away. She was glad that he was back. She asked him, “Why did you wake me?”

“I wanted to have a good look at your face,” he answered. “Is that too much to ask?”

“Keegan, you know we can’t,” was her answer.

He inches closer to her face. He was looking at her lips. “Why can’t we exactly?”

She started shaking her head but he brushed his lips against hers. He did it softly, lovingly. She closed her eyes. She didn’t tell him to stop but her logical mind was telling her to. Her heart rate accelerated and she was breath
