Chapter Twenty-Two

Rae awoke suddenly.

The caravan was dark. She stared at the dark roof quietly and tried to figure out if it was the same night because she felt like she slept through the week. She was well rested and not at all exhausted considering she woke up unexpectedly.

What woke her? She couldn't tell.

She sat up and eyed Keegan's bed. It was empty. A scowl pinched her features together and she stood up. The floor of the caravan was warm. He wasn't seated at the table and he never sat in the driver or passenger seats. The door was closed but they key wasn't there so she assumed he was outside. It was the only other option.

Where had he gone so late in the night? Did he often do this? It was strange that she was living with him for close to two weeks and knew nothing about what he did on a daily basis. Perhaps two weeks wasn't enough to get to know someone. He was mysterious. She wondered if there was something else he was up to apart from gathering an army to fight Negan.
