Raven's pov

He pressed his nose into my cotton underwear, spreading my legs further.

My heart skipped a beat, wolf going feral as he reached for the soaked and tore it off with a groan wrapping it around his bulging member.

Then, as he stroked himself, he leaned down and whispered heatedly in my ear, “Brace yourself, piggy, by the time I'm done with you.

..you won't even remember that dork's name.”

All the blood in my body rushed up to my cheeks as I closed my eyes and tried to recall how I ended up here like this with my adoptive brother.

Just 7 hours ago I was shopping with my best friend, Luella, the gamma's daughter.

Two of her friends-twins-had tagged along, propping themselves as my unsolicited judges. I'd step out of the changing booth and only the look on their faces made me want to burn the dresses I wore.

“What about this one?” I said striking an awkward pose in a pink floral fitted gown, Laura placed her palm over her lips; “For real?”

She nudged her twin, Lana, who was already giggling.

“Oh, Raven if only we could have just half of your confidence,”

My face was flushed, and I was back in the changing booth when I stared at the mirror inside. My stomach churned.

To say the way the fabric was sticking to my body was unflattering was a huge understatement, I looked a mess. Stomach shooting out and everything.

It hadn't looked so bad before I stepped out, but after receiving their comments, each detail stuck out, and I wanted to slap myself across the face, but even thinking it looked good for a second.

“Don't be so hard on yourself, I seriously don't know why Luella even invited them!” My wolf, Breeze, tried to console me.

She was my biggest cheerleader, it was crazy that I had only awakened her on my 16th big moon. Most people already had theirs at 12 to 14. The moment Luella found out I had awakened my wolf, she insisted I have an Awakening party.

I had resisted at first, and the Awakening party at 16 was like advertising to everyone that I was a late bloomer.

But she was bent on it and since I could hardly ever say no to my best friend, I agreed.

The party was tonight–Yah-she had gone through my wardrobe this morning and decided that I didn't have one good-looking dress for the party.

“Let's go shopping!” She'd insisted.

Now we were here and I felt ridiculous, as always.

Maybe clothes would look good on me if I were petite and soft like most girls of the Valkhor pack. But it was like my body was trying to remind me of an outsider that only got the chance to live here because of the generosity of the Alpha and Luna, who decided to adopt me when they found me abandoned at the border, crying out my lungs.

“Raven, I hope you're not offended, you know how those two are, they love to joke,” Luella said, stepping into the changing booth.

“That dress just wasn't your color, I'm sure we'll find something else,”

“I'm good,” I said trying to reach for the zipper of the dress myself, “I think I've already spent enough arranging this party maybe I should just wear something comfortable in my wardrobe,”

“By comfortable you mean your baggy hoodie and sweatpants, right?” She said in a disapproving tone, “Come on, Raven, you're cute little crush Freddy is even going to be at the party. Don't you want to impress him?”

I blushed lightly, remembering Freddy Gregor; his family was mid-rank but had strong ancestral ties to the Alpha family.

He was one of the few boys who talked to me in school and didn't chuckle indecisively when I walked past. We also sat right next to each other, and he even helped me pick up my pen once when it fell.

Breeze wasn't impressed by him and insisted we wait for our mate, but I liked him, and if I wasn't just being delusional, I think he might like me a bit too.

“All right…” I said with a defeated sigh, “Just one more dress and that's it,”

Luella grinned and tried to get me out of the dress, but she was only able to make it three inches down before the zipper got stuck.

“Don't worry, I got this!” She sounded confident in herself, but I was worried.

“Well maybe we should call somebody-”

Snap

The zipper broke and it was stuck.

“Girl I'm so sorry I thought I could…”

“Just call somebody,” I said, covering my face with my palm trying my best not to break into a sob.

This was so humiliating.

Laura and Lana are going to find out why I'm stuck here and that means the entire school finds out too.

Great, I was getting worried that they would run out of more stuff to make fun of me for.

I heard the curtains rustling behind me a few moments later, my face still buried in my palms.

“I'm so sorry about this dress,” said naturally assuming that the person behind me was an employee coming to help me out of the dress, “I promise that I'll pay for it and–”

I heard the sound of a phone camera flashing behind me, and with dread, I pulled my palms from my face and lifted my head. The reflection of a familiar male towering over me from behind with his phone held up made my heart drop.

I turned around, face bleached of any color and the tears that I had been winning against having the tables turned in their favor.

“Delete it–please!” I begged.

I knew that my luck was rotten, but I had no idea that it was bad.

Because out of all the people that had to find me in this precarious position it just had to be my biggest tormentor.

My adoptive brother.

Dante Valkhor.

Raven's POV I woke up Tuesday morning with my back hurting so bad and I could barely move. The baby had grown so much in the past few weeks that everything ached. My feet were swollen, my back was killing me, and even breathing felt hard sometimes. I tried to get out of bed, but a sharp pain shot through my lower back, making me gasp. "You okay?" Alaric called from the hallway. "Fine," I lied. He opened the door anyway, looking concerned. "You don't look fine," he said. "What's wrong?" "Just my back," I admitted. "It hurts when I move." He came into the room, sitting on the edge of my bed. "Where does it hurt?" he asked. "Everywhere," I said. "But mostly my lower back. The baby's getting heavy." "Let me help," he said. "Turn on your side." "What are you going to do?" I asked. "Just trust me," he said. I rolled onto my side with some difficulty. Alaric put his hands on my lower back, pressing gently with his thumbs. At first it hurt, but then he found the right spot and t

Raven's POV I went back to school on Monday even though my doctor said I could stay home another week. But hiding wasn't going to solve anything. Plus I needed to see Luella in person to set up our meeting. Alaric walked me to every class as he promised. People stared, but I was getting used to that. At least with him next to me, nobody tried anything. Between third and fourth period, I went to my locker alone because Alaric had to use the bathroom. That's when Luella showed up with Amber and Jessica, flanking her like bodyguards. "Well, well, well," Luella said, leaning against the locker next to mine. "Look who came crawling back." "I go to school here," I said, not looking at her. "I have every right to be here." "Do you though?" she asked. "I mean most girls in your condition would have the decency to stay home." "And I guess you never learned about minding your own business," I said, closing my locker. Amber and Jessica laughed, but Luella's smile got tighter. "Everythin

Raven's POV We were staying at Alaric's dad's house now, which was bigger and quieter than anywhere I'd lived before. His dad worked long hours, so we had the place to ourselves most days. On Sunday morning, Alaric spread papers across the dining room table. Screenshots of social media posts. A timeline of everything that had happened to me and notes about Jake, Luella and Dante. "Okay," he said. "We need a real plan. Something that will actually work." I sat down across from him, looking at all the evidence we'd collected so far. It was a lot, but also not enough. Nothing that directly proved Luella hit me with the car or that showed Jake was spreading rumors on Dante's orders. "We need recordings," I said. "Or text messages. Something they can't deny." "Agreed," Alaric said. "But how do we get them?" "Jake's phone," I said. "If we could get into his phone we'd probably find messages between him and Dante. Maybe even messages about the hit and run." "There's no way he'd just

Raven's POV I didn't want to go to the pack gathering, but Alaric insisted it would be good for me. We drove back to Valkhor territory on Saturday for the monthly meeting. Every pack member was required to attend, unless they had a really good excuse. Being pregnant and traumatized wasn't good enough apparently. "Stay close to me," Alaric said as we walked into the community center. "Don't let anyone separate us." "Okay," I said, gripping his hand tighter. The room was packed with people. Everyone turned to look when we walked in and the whispers started immediately. "Just ignore them," Alaric whispered. "They don't matter." We found seats near the back. I kept my head down, trying to make myself as small as possible, which was hard considering how big my stomach was getting. "Look who decided to show up," someone said loudly. I looked up to see Amber standing a few rows ahead with Jessica. They were both staring at me with mean smiles. "I'm surprised she has the nerve to c

Raven's POV I found out the truth about Jake completely by accident. I was walking past his room on Thursday afternoon when I heard him on the phone. His door was cracked open just a little. "I told you it's working," Jake said. His voice was low, like he didn't want anyone to hear. "The rumors are everywhere. People are already turning against her." I stopped in the hallway, holding my breath. My heart started pounding. "Dante, you need to relax," Jake continued. "She's not going to figure it out. She's too stupid and trusting." He was talking to Dante about me. "Yes, I'm watching her," Jake said. "She barely leaves her room. Alaric is always hovering around her like some kind of guard dog. It's pathetic really." I pressed myself against the wall, trying to hear better without being seen. "The hit and run was genius by the way," Jake said laughing. "I can't believe Luella actually went through with it." My blood went cold. Luella was the one who hit me with the car and Jake

Raven's POV I spent all of Wednesday morning thinking about what Alaric said about finding proof. If someone was spreading rumors about me, then there had to be evidence somewhere. Something that could prove who started it. I couldn't just sit around waiting for Alaric to figure it out. I needed to do something myself. "We should investigate," I told Breeze. "Find out what Luella and Jake are really up to." "How?" she asked. "We can't exactly ask them." "No, but we can watch them," I said. "Listen to their conversations. See who they talk to and follow the trail." "That's risky," Breeze warned. "If they catch us spying, they'll know we're onto them." "Then we have to be careful," I said. "We have to be smart about it." I grabbed a notebook from my backpack, then started making a list. Things I needed to find out and people I needed to watch. Luella was at the top of the list. Then Jake, Dante, and Luella's friends, Amber and Jessica. "What are you doing?" Alaric asked from my
