Raven's pov

He pressed his nose into my cotton underwear, spreading my legs further.

My heart skipped a beat, wolf going feral as he reached for the soaked and tore it off with a groan wrapping it around his bulging member.

Then, as he stroked himself, he leaned down and whispered heatedly in my ear, “Brace yourself, piggy, by the time I'm done with you.

..you won't even remember that dork's name.”

All the blood in my body rushed up to my cheeks as I closed my eyes and tried to recall how I ended up here like this with my adoptive brother.

Just 7 hours ago I was shopping with my best friend, Luella, the gamma's daughter.

Two of her friends-twins-had tagged along, propping themselves as my unsolicited judges. I'd step out of the changing booth and only the look on their faces made me want to burn the dresses I wore.

“What about this one?” I said striking an awkward pose in a pink floral fitted gown, Laura placed her palm over her lips; “For real?”

She nudged her twin, Lana, who was already giggling.

“Oh, Raven if only we could have just half of your confidence,”

My face was flushed, and I was back in the changing booth when I stared at the mirror inside. My stomach churned.

To say the way the fabric was sticking to my body was unflattering was a huge understatement, I looked a mess. Stomach shooting out and everything.

It hadn't looked so bad before I stepped out, but after receiving their comments, each detail stuck out, and I wanted to slap myself across the face, but even thinking it looked good for a second.

“Don't be so hard on yourself, I seriously don't know why Luella even invited them!” My wolf, Breeze, tried to console me.

She was my biggest cheerleader, it was crazy that I had only awakened her on my 16th big moon. Most people already had theirs at 12 to 14. The moment Luella found out I had awakened my wolf, she insisted I have an Awakening party.

I had resisted at first, and the Awakening party at 16 was like advertising to everyone that I was a late bloomer.

But she was bent on it and since I could hardly ever say no to my best friend, I agreed.

The party was tonight–Yah-she had gone through my wardrobe this morning and decided that I didn't have one good-looking dress for the party.

“Let's go shopping!” She'd insisted.

Now we were here and I felt ridiculous, as always.

Maybe clothes would look good on me if I were petite and soft like most girls of the Valkhor pack. But it was like my body was trying to remind me of an outsider that only got the chance to live here because of the generosity of the Alpha and Luna, who decided to adopt me when they found me abandoned at the border, crying out my lungs.

“Raven, I hope you're not offended, you know how those two are, they love to joke,” Luella said, stepping into the changing booth.

“That dress just wasn't your color, I'm sure we'll find something else,”

“I'm good,” I said trying to reach for the zipper of the dress myself, “I think I've already spent enough arranging this party maybe I should just wear something comfortable in my wardrobe,”

“By comfortable you mean your baggy hoodie and sweatpants, right?” She said in a disapproving tone, “Come on, Raven, you're cute little crush Freddy is even going to be at the party. Don't you want to impress him?”

I blushed lightly, remembering Freddy Gregor; his family was mid-rank but had strong ancestral ties to the Alpha family.

He was one of the few boys who talked to me in school and didn't chuckle indecisively when I walked past. We also sat right next to each other, and he even helped me pick up my pen once when it fell.

Breeze wasn't impressed by him and insisted we wait for our mate, but I liked him, and if I wasn't just being delusional, I think he might like me a bit too.

“All right…” I said with a defeated sigh, “Just one more dress and that's it,”

Luella grinned and tried to get me out of the dress, but she was only able to make it three inches down before the zipper got stuck.

“Don't worry, I got this!” She sounded confident in herself, but I was worried.

“Well maybe we should call somebody-”

Snap

The zipper broke and it was stuck.

“Girl I'm so sorry I thought I could…”

“Just call somebody,” I said, covering my face with my palm trying my best not to break into a sob.

This was so humiliating.

Laura and Lana are going to find out why I'm stuck here and that means the entire school finds out too.

Great, I was getting worried that they would run out of more stuff to make fun of me for.

I heard the curtains rustling behind me a few moments later, my face still buried in my palms.

“I'm so sorry about this dress,” said naturally assuming that the person behind me was an employee coming to help me out of the dress, “I promise that I'll pay for it and–”

I heard the sound of a phone camera flashing behind me, and with dread, I pulled my palms from my face and lifted my head. The reflection of a familiar male towering over me from behind with his phone held up made my heart drop.

I turned around, face bleached of any color and the tears that I had been winning against having the tables turned in their favor.

“Delete it–please!” I begged.

I knew that my luck was rotten, but I had no idea that it was bad.

Because out of all the people that had to find me in this precarious position it just had to be my biggest tormentor.

My adoptive brother.

Dante Valkhor.

Raven's POV I was walking down the corridor toward the main staircase when Breeze suddenly appeared next to me and started pulling on my sleeve and making worried sounds. "What's wrong?" I asked her. She kept tugging harder and pointing back the way we came, but I didn't understand what she was trying to tell me, and I had to get downstairs for the council meeting or I would be late. "Breeze, I have to go." She made a sharp noise and grabbed my arm with both hands, and her eyes looked scared. That's when I realized something was wrong. Two men came around the corner ahead of me, and I recognized them from Dante's group of friends. They smiled at me, but it wasn't a nice smile, and my stomach dropped. "Hello Raven," the tall one said. "I need to get past you." "Do you?" The shorter one moved to block more of the hallway. Breeze pulled harder on my sleeve, and I started backing up slowly because something felt wrong about this whole thing, and every part of me was screaming t

I couldn't sleep again, so I went to the library because nobody ever went there at night, and I needed to be alone with my thoughts. I was tired of pretending everything was normal when it wasn't. I sat down in one of the chairs by the window, put my head in my hands, and tried not to cry because crying wouldn't fix anything, but the tears came anyway. "Raven?" I looked up and wiped my face. Alaric stood in the doorway with a confused look on his face, and I wanted to disappear. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I couldn't sleep either." He walked over and sat in the chair across from me. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine." "You're crying." "I said I'm fine." He leaned forward and looked at me, and I could tell he didn't believe me at all. "Talk to me." "Why would I talk to you?" "Because you look like you need someone to talk to, and I'm here." He crossed his arms, but his voice stayed soft. "What's going on?" I stared at him for a long time and tried to figure out if I could

Raven's POV Thursday morning, I walked into school and immediately knew something was wrong. People were staring at me more than usual, and when I passed groups in the hallway, they would stop talking and whisper. "What's going on?" I asked Breeze. "I don't know, but I don't like it," she said. I got to my locker and found another note taped to it. This one had a printed screenshot of some social media post. I ripped it off and read it. "Raven Valkhor slept with half the lacrosse team, that's why she doesn't know who the real father is. She's just pinning it on Dante because he has money." My stomach dropped. This was a new low even for them. "They're lying," Breeze growled. "Everyone knows we've only been with Dante." "It doesn't matter if it's true," I said. "People will believe it anyway." I crumpled the note and shoved it in my bag. By lunch, the rumors had gotten worse. I heard people saying I had slept with teachers, I was selling myself for money, the baby might not

Raven's POV Wednesday afternoon, Alaric showed up at my house with a determined look on his face. "We're going somewhere," he said. "Where?" I asked. "To see a healer," he said. "A real one, not the pack doctor who reports everything to Alpha Marcus." "I can't afford a healer," I said. "I'm paying," he said. "And before you argue, I already made the appointment and she's expecting us in an hour." "Alaric, I can't let you pay for this," I said. "Too bad," he said. "You're going, whether you like it or not. Now, get in the car." I wanted to argue but something about his tone told me it wouldn't matter. So I grabbed my bag and followed him to his car. We drove for thirty minutes to a small house on the edge of the next town over. An older woman with silver hair answered the door and smiled warmly at us. "You must be Raven," she said. "I'm Healer Mara. Come in." Her house smelled like herbs and lavender. She led us to a room with a comfortable bed and lots of plants. "Lie do

Raven's POV Tuesday started like any other exhausting day. I woke up at five for my morning dog walking job, then went to school. After school, I had three tutoring sessions back to back, followed by a shift at the pack market selling jewelry until nine. By the time I got home, I was so tired, but I still had homework to finish. I sat at my desk trying to focus, but the words on my textbook kept blurring together. "You need to rest," Breeze said. "Our body can't keep doing this." "I have to finish this," I said. "The test is tomorrow." "You're going to make yourself sick," Breeze warned. "I'm fine," I lied. But I wasn't fine. My head was pounding, and my hands were shaking. The room started spinning and I gripped the edge of my desk, trying to steady myself. "Raven stop," Breeze said urgently. "Something is wrong." I tried to stand up, but my legs gave out and the last thing I remembered was hitting the floor hard. When I opened my eyes, Alaric was kneeling beside me lookin

Raven's POV Monday afternoon, there was a pep rally in the gym for the upcoming lacrosse championship. I tried to skip it, but my math teacher made everyone go. I sat in the back bleachers, hoping nobody would notice me. Alaric found me anyway and sat down beside me. The rally started with the cheerleaders doing a routine. Luella was front and center looking perfect as always. Then Dante and the lacrosse team ran out, and everyone went crazy, cheering. I tried to focus on anything else. My phone, my shoes, the exit sign across the gym. But then someone threw something at me. A crumpled piece of paper hit the back of my head. I turned around and saw three guys from Dante's friend group laughing. "Oops," one of them said. "My hand slipped." "Leave her alone," Alaric said, standing up. "Or what?" the guy said. "You going to fight us, new kid?" "If I have to," Alaric said. The gym got quieter as people noticed what was happening. Even the cheerleaders stopped their routine. "S
