Chapter 13

**Audrey's POV**

I clamped my hands tightly and pressed my lips into a thin line as the door creaked open while I waited for whoever it must’ve been to come in.

As soon as I saw that it was the man who showed to me the slave quarters the very first day I came here, I heaved a sigh of relief, ignoring the way the King started at me in confusion.

I didn't know much about him and didn't want to, the fact that I knew he was harmless; and that he was the Lycan king's friend as well as his second in command was more than enough reason to feel slightly comfortable.

"There you are." He stood at the entrance, looking at me, and back at the king.

"Good evening, Beta." I bowed quickly, suddenly finding my voice.

He stared at me, a small smile playing on his lips, "Hello there." He greeted me with a smile, which made me look confusedly up at him.

The words sounded strange coming out of his mouth, even the expression on his face was quite inexplicable; almost like he was suggesting something.
