Saber's POV
"I knew things were going to get interesting and fast, but I didn't think it would be the next morning," Theo lazily leaned against the wall, watching everyone run around."Who's Ambrose?""He works for the guy who killed your mother.""Why is he at Genevieve's house?" Saber questioned, a little afraid of the answer."Your guess is as good as mine.""Maybe you should be a little more concerned one of The Four got this close to one of the twins, Theo." Davina appeared far less bored than her stepbrother."Hey, I am concerned. But my focus is supposed to be on protecting Saber,Genevieve's POVThe last thing Genevieve remembered was being loaded up into an ambulance. Between hitting her head in the car crash and going through a table, she was surprised she had stayed awake as long as she did.The room was quiet except for the beeping of the heart monitor. Her head was throbbing and moving any part of her bodyfeltlike a bad decision. The light stung her eyes as she attempted to open them."Gen, honey, don't try to sit up.""Dad?""Yeah. Mom ran out to grab us something to eat. You passed out on the way to the hospital. Had to take you back to surgery because they couldn't stop the bleeding. Lost a lot of blood but the doctors made sure you were all stitched up. More worried about the blow you took to the head.""Everything hurts. What time is
Saber's POVAfter driving for almost an hour, they finally pull into the parking garage of a small office building. A little underwhelming. Although Saber was aware the Constellation was both secret and underground, part of him expected something a bit more interesting."This is one of several entrances. The New York base spreads underneath most of the state as well as part of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Try not to draw too much attention to any of them."Gavril made no attempt to leave the vehicle as the security guards got out."Anytime higher-up personnel enter or exit a checkpoint, security does a sweep of the area. Making sure they weren't followed or someone isn't waiting for them when they return. We wait until they give the all-clear before heading in.""Makes sense."One of the guards waved to the driver to let them out.The inside of the building was less remarkable than the outside. Everyone was dresse
Gavril motioned to the guards, and they pushed open the enormous set of ornately carved wooden doors. Beyond the threshold was a beautiful, lush forest. Sun shone down through the trees, birds were chirping, and a breeze blew into the room a faint floral scent he didn't recognize.Never in his life had he been proven so wrong so quickly."Yeah, I think we fixed your nature dilemma."Saber nodded, following them out of the white room towards a horse-drawn carriage. His attention is stolen by everything as he struggled to comprehend how everything was real, and he hadn't fallen asleep."Saber, over here." Gavril waved from behind him. Distracted so easily by his new surroundings, he hadn't realized he walked right past the carriage."You will have the rest of your life to wander in these woods. Right now, we have an important meeting to call. Remember?""Right, sorry. I
Ambrose's POVAmbrose had no idea what would be waiting for him as he pulled up to the compound. Sure his family wouldn't harm him, but he was unable to say the same about Marius. Unsure if his siblings would be around to stop the man if he did try something.Walking in, the house was eerily quiet. Wasn't even noon yet, more activity should be going on around the place. Figuring out some kind of lie to explain why he was here, he found his way to Marius's office. Slightly surprised, when he knocked on the door and the man answered."What are you doing here? You are to be finding out what the girl has learned this weekend.""She was in an accident this morning, and they took her to the hospital. Probably staying overnight. Where is everyone?""The Collective wanted to borrow some people for a rather large nest they found. Therefore, half of them are off training with whoever needed the help. The rest are either out on assignments
Saber's POVAfter Gavril had introduced him to everyone, they had sat around for almost forty-five minutes waiting for this Alucard guy to show up. So they decided to start the meeting without him and catch him up whenever he arrived."Your eldest son having been working outside of the Constellation and the Alliance, there could be a chance he made connections with the shadow dwellers." Ronin, one of the council members pointed out."An equal chance he hasn't met anyone outside of Ambrose who has any knowledge about our world,"Noxcountered."If I may interject,"
Saber's POVSpent most of the rest of the day being shown around by Nox. Hard to believe everything was underground. By the time they returned, Nox had requested a long list of books to be delivered to Saber's room. Figured they would help answer many of his burning questions. Read through about half of one before he realized how tired he was and decided to go to bed.As he drifted off to sleep, he found himself back in the forest. Unlike every previous visit, itwas storming. Squinting through the rain and barely making out the treeline, he quickly started running, trying to take cover. The rain, like needles on his skin, took over where the fog disappeared. Making finding his way nearly impossible. The rain almost instantly stopped. Found himself looking at a cave learning into the side of the mountain with the forest behind him. Nothing about this place made
Ambrose's POVAlucard had him move to an apartment in the city, guarded by what he assumed were other fae. Never did develop the ability to sit around doing nothing until someone had a use for him. Spent all night tossing and turning. Unsure of what direction anything would go.Eventually, no longer wanting to wait around, he decided to try to sneak in to visit Genevieve. Possible she never wanted toseehim again. But she did interfere when her father tried to attack him. All he wanted to do was explain himself.A little surprised he wasn't stopped when he reached the hospital. After the failed kidnapping, one would think to make sure security was better. As he reached her room, he found her watchers sitting outside the door."What are you doing here?" Gen's mom was more surprised than concerned when she
Before her mother was able to leave the room, a white light appeared between them. A woman stood in the center as the light dimmed. For a moment she believed her to be the woman she spoke to in the forest but quickly realized the two only slightly resembled one another. Sisters perhaps. Her mother quickly bowed at the sight of her. Was this the Sacred One she has been told about? Eerie timing ifitwas."Who are you?""Have you not been explaining things to her?" The glowing woman turned towards her mother who was a little surprised by the question."The past few days have been uncharacteristically eventful for her. A lot to explain in two days, especially with her being unconscious for most of the weekend.""Well, she is awake now, you sho-""None of this answers my question," Genevieve interrupted. Annoyed at what was happening in front o
