Chapter 4

Alexander's POV

Alexander Warner's eyes followed Saber as he walked down the hall toward the men's room. Glad he was here, although the boy would not like moving here.

Not at first.

Today was his eighteenth birthday, and he was soon going to travel down a long road. Would prefer him to figure things out sooner, rather than later, but Mr. Warner was not allowed to tell him.

Not unless Saber asked him first.

Eighteen years ago, he was told about the twins and to keep them secret. Also, anyone curious about them was to never find out the truth. Being revealed too early would put Saber and Genevieve in grave danger.

The Sacred One told him what he had to do. Both must figure things out, and soon. The twins had no clue what was about to happen to them. Not allowed to tell them anything, except to be ready for yet another change. At this point, he was unsure if Saber would welcome this change. Although, he was positive he would take this better than Genevieve would.

In the past month, the Sacred One had contacted Saber's watchers and told them to relocate him to New York. Might as well let him come home, he would figure things out sooner or later. After his transition, it would not matter where they hid him. The energy would stand out to anyone who had any idea of what to search for. No use in keeping him away any longer.

The original colony was settled a few miles out of the city limits, so the Sacred One was more comfortable here. Multiple outposts are scattered around the world. One in most of the major cities of the world. New York was the base, none of the other posts come close in size.

Warner was not his real surname of course. Having the name Fearmist out in the open after his sister Saoirse's death was too risky. Though reluctant, Alexander stepped into the role. At least until Saber or Genevieve transition and take her place. Unlikely they would both become vampires. Small possibility though.

Of course, he wasn't the only one running around the school. For every one of the fae children, a protector was never far away, and a minimum of twelve fae were enrolled. This school was first built by The Sacred One to educate them, but the Alliance went underground. Any of the fae living up top here, went to school here, along with their protectors. Most lived down in the Alliance, not too many were around up here.

The twin's protectors were some of the best for their age. Even if they were decades older than the teenagers they appeared to be. Basic illusionists and exceptional warriors in battle due to their abilities. Disguising themselves as any age is the perfect skill to have when working with the younger fae.

"He's in the restroom," Alexander pointed out for the girl behind him. "Worried already, Davina?"

"Cautious," came the almost whisper walking up to him. "The transition could take over at any time. Why is a human nurse working today knowing what today is?"

Odd. Shouldn't be a human nurse working. At all. The nurses employed at the school are all healers. Always around in case one of the fae were injured, injured a human, or a human witnessed something they should not have. Altering memories so they would not expose anyone to the rest of the humans.

Pulling out his cell phone as the second bell rang and the halls emptied. Of course, Principal Howard was not going to pick up. The man had a problem with this in recent years.

"Go sit down, I will figure it out," the slight wrinkles between his brows deepened as it went to voicemail a second time. Punching in a different number, he waved his arm towards Saber exiting the men's room to hurry him along.

"Find Howard and tell him to call me" he demanded into the phone and hung up.

Genevieve's POV

"Genevieve!" Alyssa screamed; jolting her awake.

"What happened?" sitting up, she held her throbbing head, realizing she was in the nurse's office.

"You fell, and you kept saying 'what' over and over again then you kind of passed out," Oliver said from the seat next to the bed.

Everything flashed back to her.

The strong pressure pushing her down, and the voice. As she started to tell them, the voice swam back into her head.

"Not in front of the nurse. Tell Alyssa and Oliver when you are alone."

"Are you okay?" Oliver asked.

"Sorry, I'm still dizzy," Genevieve answered, looking at Alyssa. "Think I want to lay down for a little bit,"

"Whatever will help," the nurse said, walking away from the bed. Gen watched as she closed the door behind her.

"They have the answers," the voice kept telling her

"Now, what's going on?" Alyssa asked, making sure the nurse would not overhear them.

"I think you guys will think I'm crazy if I tell you," Genevieve answered. But the voice persisted.

"Tell them!" the voice insisted. "They can give you all the answers you desire."

"Okay, okay." Looking at Alyssa and Oliver, she realizes they should be looking at her like she was losing her mind, but they were not.

"I keep hearing this voice," she started, looking down at her hands.

"Started in the Teachers' Lounge. When I turned around to walk back into the hallway, some kind of pressure pushed my entire body down. The voice kept telling me to fight it, and every time she spoke, the pressure lifted off of me."

To her surprise, they did not look at her like she was insane. In fact, they looked like they were glad.

"When I woke up, I was going to tell you, but the voice told me not to tell you in front of the nurse. To ask you because you would 'have all the answers I desire.' What does that mean?"

"You have to understand, what we are about to tell you isn't made up, and I'm not sure how well you are going to take this," Alyssa said, looking down at her friend.

"I don't care, I want to know what the hell is with the voice," Genevieve said, looking back at Alyssa. "Please tell me I am not going insane."

"No, you're not going crazy," Oliver answered. "This might take a while, Al."

"Yeah, but she needs to know now," she replied. "Orders were to tell her when she started asking questions, and now she is asking questions."

"Okay," Oliver hesitated. "Well, first off, I'm not your cousin."

"What!?"

"Now wait! Let us get everything out first," Alyssa interrupted her. "You were adopted seventeen years ago. Your real mother, Saoirse Fearmist, was killed protecting your family's secret."

"Now your family, your biological family, are fae," Oliver explained cautiously. "We are too. Our race protects all of fae kind."

"You are one of the children of the witches," Oliver explained.

"The man who killed your mother is part of an organization trying to rid the world of fae. Marius is a formidable eternal who wants all of us eliminated. Far as we can tell, this is the only group who are able to break through the amulets," Alyssa gestured to an amulet similar to the one she had been given at breakfast.

"Every witch has the same basic abilities, but each individual also tends to have powers unique to themselves and their family line. No one can be sure what they will be until they have them. A lesser taste of their abilities starts when they are younger, in order to learn how to control them. Fully coming into those powers at eighteen. Most are vulnerable until they come of age."

"This is bullshit," standing up to walk away, her spinning vision brought her back down on the bed.

"You're not the only one this has to be explained to," Oliver said. "You have a twin brother, Saber, who just moved here. Right now, he has no clue about any of this."

"Okay, I wasn't adopted, my parents wouldn't have kept something like that from me." The headache only increased with her volume and showed no signs of letting up. "How can you expect me to believe the rest of the crap you guys are throwing my way"

"This is stuff you need to learn Gen," her attempt to comfort her friend was swatted away.

"Leave me alone," rolling over, she buried her eyes in the crook of her arm in an attempt to sleep.
