Death Road

It caught my attention real good as I shifted my gaze into the sky. The pink moon captivated my gaze as, without me knowing, I smiled for the first time in a while. I felt warmth, I felt freedom I felt like I was deeply connected with the moon I was still in a trance when suddenly, I caught a smell, a strange but alluring scent that suddenly pulled me back to reality for a moment, I felt my dead heart starting to beat again It was an inexplicable feeling, similar to that of a withering flower being sprinkled with the sweet rain, I don’t have a wolf, but I grew up among werewolves and I’ve smelled countless werewolves, but none of them have ever stirred so much, is this the direction? Unfortunately, I don’t have a wolf, I can’t confirm that weakly and slowly, I turned my head to look at the source of that scent but the two men driving the cargo obstructed my sight, having me nothing to see but them.

“Wait, someone is ahead,” suddenly, I heard one of them, Lucas speak with bated breaths. Roger didn’t reply but I know that he’d already caught sight of that someone Lucas was talking about I felt like it gradually became stronger as we approached the source of that scent, I couldn’t help but think that the person ahead was the source of that scent.

“Everyone, load your crossbows, a suspicious individual I would say has been spotted ahead blocking our way. It’s assumed that it’s a rogue werewolf.”I heard Roger finally speak with the crossbow on his hands.

“Stop!” Roger warned the man loudly.

“Give her to me.” The man’s low voice burrowed into my heart with his scent.

Author’s POV

Valentine was walking alone along the roadside of the Dead Forest the moonlight reflected on his body, revealing his long cyan hair that fluttered gently with the wind he was on his way back home when suddenly, “Hm…? Humans..” He noticed a group of cargos moving in a row along the bumpy road of the Dead Forest.

“Another wagonload of slaves? How dare humans call us werewolves evil? Heh.” He says as he takes cover next to some bushes, they were headed in his direction as he couldn’t help but let out a low groan, “How annoying, I think they got someone special in there. don’t you think so too, Cadis?” He says to his wolf

‘Indeed. Let’s go Valentine, the moon is turning pink! Cadis warned Valentine looked up and also saw the moon turning pink, it did look like it was time to go although they wouldn’t possess any threat against him, dealing with filthy humans was still too much of a bother but to his surprise, as the humans were approaching, he suddenly caught a smell not belonging to a human, but to someone like him, a werewolf. It piqued his interest as he suddenly revealed a faint smile.

“Cadis do you smell a wolf, I really think they got one our kind in there?” He tried to confirm to Cadis but this time his wolf didn’t answer him and he had to mutter alone that

“So, humans are now trading wolves, huh? should I take a look or maybe should we?” He muttered, still no answer from Cadis, curiosity overwhelmed his aversion to deal with humans.

Valentine walked towards the human wagon, he wanted to see which unlucky weak werewolf was captured by the humans and put in the carriages but as he got closer to the human, the smell got stronger, and it was the first time Valentine had ever smelled something so captivating.

“Cadis, this smel don’t tell me you cant ……l.” But he hadn’t finished his sentence when

“Mine!” Cadis shouted in his mind, that sudden news really gave him quite a surprise. He always thought he wouldn’t have a MATE…

“Valentine, I’m sure that’s our MATE! But why can’t I talk to her wolf, this is weird? Why!” Cadis simply couldn’t calm down as he kept urging Valentine over and over again to save their MATE.

“Calm Down! Cadis, you were hesitating earlier now you are so over exited all over sudden” Valentine was sick of feeling so out of control, he still preferred to have everything under control.

“Valentine, I can feel she’s in critical condition! she wants to die! We have to save her right now! If you don’t want to go, let me out and I will save her!” Cadis shouted ,he didn’t expect his mate would be held captive by the humans to be sold as a slave or something and also, she was not in a good condition. No matter how he looked at it, It was something that couldn’t be said is good in any way.

That being said, Valentine, who never intended to bother himself with humans, decided to meddle with their business just this once. He wiped of his shirt and put on his hat in a good position for he was about to make that magical entrance and use that sick phrase he has been holding for a while.

“Don’t tell me youre trying to bring out that sick drama of yours Valentine, this is not just the right time for that, we have a life at stake here, a mate!” cadis tries to warn him but he walks out of the bush majestically and stands in the middle of the pathway, giving that superhero look and raises his head the cargos then stopped right in front of him. Valentine was ready to stop the cargo.

“Time out!” he shouts “This is the end of the road for you today, stop and hand over whatever you are carrying or else it will be bloody” he shouts at them but the carriages weren’t stopping, forcefully, he didn’t need to put extra effort anymore when he sees them up close, Valentine could see the humans pointing their crossbows at him. But well, that wouldn’t be enough to worry him even if it was a silver arrow, such a trivial thing could only catch his attention at best.
