“Let us all welcome our new CEO with claps to hear his voice” Mr. James invited Josh to the podium.

He stood up confidently, straightened his coat and took the microphone.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank my grandfather for the trust that he has shown me. I was just but an adopted child who regained his real identity recently. I promise that I won’t disappoint him in any way. “

If Alicia’s company could get the contract, it will be more famous and his company will benefit a lot. so, he thought that Alicia had to do whatever possible to get it.

She was not comfortable with this being that she had pride and has never begged anyone before. However, she had no option but to try.

“But do you think that just an apology will make Josh consider your contract after all the humiliation you gave him in the past”. I don’t think it will be a guarantee for getting the contract” Ann didn’t support the idea.

“Ann, I desperately need this contract so I need solutions. If you think apologizing won’t work, then give us your own opinion and stop being pessimistic.” Alicia got pissed off with Ann.

“Don’t be mad at me my beautiful sister, I am just concerned about Josh humiliating you and you ending up not even getting the contract. You are always a winner, we can work on other contracts to better the company.” Ann told her.

‘‘Yes we can work on other contracts but you don’t know how missing this one will mess me up.” Alicia told her trying to calm down.

Time was running out and Alicia gathered courage to go to talk to Josh but he had many people who were congratulating him. At this time, he was the center of attention, something that she was the only one who enjoyed in the past while he stood watching by a far.

“Can you give me a minute of your time please?” Alicia whispered to Josh because she didn’t want anyone to hear her since many people were flocking around the CEO at that moment.

“I hope you are not blind to see that am committed, you will have to come back later.” Josh told Alicia coldly in front of everyone.

She was so embarrassed like never before. Why did the table turn on her now when the time was critical? She was the one who used to humiliate him. What was happening? Why did her luck run out all over a sudden?

She bowed her head down an apologized patiently. “I beg your pardon. I would wait for you patiently “

Alicia went back to Ann and Nick as quickly as possibly because she could not bear the embarrassment. She wished the ground could open and burry her alive.

“How did it go?” Nick asked her as they were eagerly waiting for feedback.

“Can you imagine that good for nothing man that I used to feed didn’t even hear me out. He treated me as if I was nothing before him. He even insulted me. Why the hell does he have all that power? Oh…...I don’t know what to do anymore”. Alicia was panting like crazy. She was really pissed off.

“Just calm down and tell us exactly what happened” Nick asked so they can decide on what to do next.

“I went there and whispered to him that I wanted to talk to him but he just put me off and told me he was busy I should come back later. I had to leave quickly” Alicia told them

“I know that you feel annoyed but don’t give up yet, you have to go back when he is free. We still have like 30 minutes to the end of break.” Nick advised her.

“I am not going there to get humiliated again. We better think of something else. I know I am the one who desperately need this contract, but I can’t take anymore insult from him” Alicia spoke with a faint heart.
