Aurora POV
Today is the happiest day of my life. My 18th birthday, the day I’m to be mated to the Alpha of our pack, Moonfall Damon Blackthorn. The day I dreamt of all my life, for as long as I can remember, I was raised as a slave who was never to have dreams and hopes. Slaves were the lowest of the low. We could be used for any purpose, whether willingly or not, and we have no right to complain or make a fuss. Throughout my childhood years, I was always the object of mockery and disdain. I cried up to the moon every night, wondering why fate was so cruel towards me, but I got no response. Finally, my prayers were about to be answered as I was to mate with the strongest leader of our pack. I walked through the halls in high spirits as the sun shone brightly, while the birds whistled effortlessly in the castle trees. Suddenly, a harsh voice snapped at me. “Get back to work, you lazy slave!” The head chef spat. I was taken aback but the sudden interruption, but I regained my composure quickly. I remained unfazed as I knew that nothing would take away my happiness on this special day. Or so I thought. “Take this to the Alpha’s private study.” One of the castle staff gnarled at me. She shoved a basket of herbs to take to Damon’s study. I grabbed it with enthusiasm as I jetted off to his room. I knew the palace like the back of my hand as I virtually grew up here working as a slave. Some of the kitchen staff treated me with sympathy, while others treated me like a worthless servant. Always quick to remind me of my low status. I snapped out of my sour memories and strode up the stairs humming a folk song I learnt many years ago as a child. Before I approached the door to his room, I calmly dropped the basket on the floor and hurriedly adjusted my worn-out dress. “I may not be high-born, but I would like to look decent to my mate”. I thought to myself. After I was through, I picked it up and proceeded to knock on his door. Tap. I gently tapped his huge wooden door and waited for the invitation to enter. It was a punishable offense for a slave to enter the room of her Alpha without permission. I waited for a few seconds without a reply before knocking on the door again. Tap. Again, there was no response. Just as I was about to turn back to the kitchen, I heard a soft moan of a female. At first, I shook my head in disbelief, thinking my mind was playing tricks on me. But, it became louder and I could also hear the grunting sound of our alpha. My emotions got the best of me as I could no longer handle the suspense. I gently opened the door, and to my surprise, I saw Damon pounding his shaft into a lady with blonde curly hair and pretty blue eyes. That was Ember Rivers. Her bare legs wrapped firmly around his waist as his thrust became deeper. Their nakedness was in full display as their bodies almost melted into each other due to their proximity. I covered my mouth not to make any squeaky sounds, but her cold gaze met mine. She grinned from ear to ear as her eyes flicked with triumph. She pulled him closer to her as their escapade intensified. Her claws scratched his back in ecstasy, which drove him further wild with passion. I tried to move, but my legs were mounted on the floor like concrete, and my eyes couldn’t look away. It wasn’t till after they were done that he finally saw me at the door. He initially had a cold glint in his eyes, which later metamorphosed into a sinister smile. “What are you doing here, Aurora?” He spat as he buttoned his jeans. His well-sculptured body was covered in juicy sweat, which surprisingly made him even more appealing. My entire body trembled as I feebly tried to speak, but nothing came out. From my peripheral vision, I could see Ember giggling with a cynical laugh as she put on her clothes. “I…was sent to bring your herbs.” I stuttered, and I clenched my fists due to my poor reaction. I felt sorry for myself for being so weak and powerless. He had a smug face at my reaction, like he was expecting me. Tears flowed uncontrollably as I ran out of the room. I covered my face to hide my tears as I came down the stairs. I continued running till I bumped into a broad-shouldered figure. “Hey…Aurora, is that you?” This muscular figure was Axel Storm, Damon’s beta. He also grew up in the castle of a prominent family, but he always treated me with kindness. “I’m sorry, Axel..Master. Forgive my tardiness-” I snorted while stepping back away from him. He had a befuddled look on his face as he dragged me outside to the woods. My eyes widened at his bold approach, but I understood he didn’t want people to find more reasons to mock me while I was shedding tears. When we reached the woods, I let out a sigh of relief as I inhaled the fresh breeze that twirled from the huge trees. Axel gestured for me to sit under its broad branches and green leaves. “What happened, Aurora? I saw you running down from the alpha’s room. Did he hurt you again?” He asked with a concerned look. Tears welled up in my eyes and streamed down as I recanted what transpired between Damon and Ember. After what felt like an eternity, he let out a weary sigh and tapped my shoulders to soothe me. “Please don’t let his actions bother you. He probably just wants to ridicule you. I didn’t know that was his plan, he only ordered that you should be sent up with his herbs to his room.” His voice sounded sincere. My breath was caught in my throat at the thought that Damon purposely wanted me to see him and Ember together. Why will he be so cruel to me on my birthday of all days? I mumbled to myself.AuroraFor many years, I lived with a void in my heart. A space in my chest, not being able to find a place I truly belong. My best friend tried to help out, but she also was quite limited and in most ways similar to my upbringing. Growing up in the hands of palace maids and chefs who took delight in making our lives miserable.Regardless, there was this tiny voice in my head. That kept telling me to push on and don’t give up. To think my solace was becoming Damon’s Luna, would have been the worst nightmare for me, after finding out how he was involved in the cruel treatment of my parents.“Life works in mysterious ways.” I thought to myself. Realizing that my sale to Darius as his ‘breeder’ was something that took the lowest form of dismay. Was actually the most fortunate thing that happened to me.It was from this, that I finally found people who would become my long-lost family. Also, through my self-growth and discovery. I became the long-awaited white Luna. A mythical wolf who ha
DariusMy wolf was grunting, wanting to transform. Luckily, her wound healed quickly. But, I was about to chase down the rogue who scratched her. Preparing to take off, she gently held my forearm.“Pls don’t, Darius. I’m fine. I am just a bit tired. Let’s go home. We have a lot of work to be done,” she softly said. I took a deep sigh as I took a step back. My warriors had already taken care of the remaining rogues. So, we were not in any imminent situation. I gestured to proceed with our journey.“Let’s get out of here as soon as possible!” I yelled out. Immediately, they all moved into position as we headed out. I signaled the driver to make haste as we all entered our various vehicles. Aurora laid down calmly on my thighs, she quietly dozed off as I straightened her long flowing hair. A wave of anxiety washed over me.“I hope she’s alright?” I pondered to myself. My wolf whimpered, also bothered by her dwindling energy. I snapped back to reality. I knew the last thing she would want
DamonMy jaws dropped to the floor. I could hear lightning sounds all around. My eyes widened in awe. This man had a slightly built, clean, shaved face. No way to believe he was the man who instilled this much tension in Mr. Rivers’s household. Their family legacy was all known. Yet, it meant little or nothing to this person sitting right in front of me.“Are you the man who was seen in the Rivers’ mansion?” I rhetorically asked. He simply scuffed and curved his lips to reveal a smirk on his face.“I dunno what has been said about me. But, I can only say both myself and William have similar and aligned interests,” Mr. X responded. Sweat beaded on my forehead. “Did he just say William?” it took a few seconds to realize he was referring to Ember’s father. Mr. Rivers. That was a name only a few privileged people knew about. However, I sat across someone who barely flinched, dropping that name. I took a deep sigh, before meeting his gaze.“What can I do for you? I’m sure you have a tight
Aurora“Maria.”That was my mother’s name. A name that immediately called out to me. A familiar and friendly feeling was attached to it. Like I always knew about it. Suddenly, it dawned on me that when Marcus mentioned that name, my wolf became very quiet.Even before I had my transformation. My dreams felt too real and vivid. There was something about the wolf and when she stared at me, it felt comforting and made me forget whatever uncertainty and anxiety. Not at any moment, that I felt it would turn cold towards me.There was always a drawing energy towards her, it felt almost…maternal. “Maria…mother, is that you?” I asked my wolf. She remained silent, which only fueled my suspicion.“I guessed as much, that was why I am always safe around you. That’s why you appeared as my wolf. To stay close to me. You don’t have to hide yourself from me, Mother.” My heartfelt lighter, instantaneously. It was the first word. I used that endearing term ‘mother’. A wave of joy washed all over me. T
DamonI sneered at her, and she stood in front of me. Previously, even though I used to be mesmerized by her magnetic beauty and crystal-clear skin. Her radiance used to glow all around. My heart never belonged to her. This was a resolution I had known for a while. Yet, I always had a soft spot for her. However, looking at her now. I felt nothing but dismay and regret.“What do you mean by you know a secret of mine?” I snapped. She had a smirk on her face, with a cheeky smile. That sinister look, sent shivers through my spine. Still, I managed to remain unfazed and unbothered.“You think you’re slick, right? You know exactly what I mean. Now, you want to be her knight in shining armor. I wonder how she’ll feel when she finds out the whole truth about you. I don’t think she will be able to forgive you,” her words caught deep. I clenched my hands, and casually stepped towards her. She was taken aback, but immediately regained herself as soon as the bodyguards marched towards the door.“
Marcus“My father? What do you know about him, Marcus?” Aurora’s face turned serious. I felt a lump in my throat, I felt all the stares all focused on me. I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. This was a well-kept secret, as I never imagined anything would move me to reveal something so significant that could change the lives of the parties concerned. However, from the befuddled facial expression of Aurora. I knew I owed her, the truth of her family heritage. Regardless of the outcome of this revelation. On behalf of her mother, she deserves every right to know.I took a deep sigh before proceeding with the important conversation that everyone was pining to hear.“Firstly, I feel the need to start from the beginning. Your mother’s name was Maria. She was initially the Luna of Silverfang pack. She eventually left, when there were failed attempts by her family to oust her from the throne. Trying to keep the peace and sanity of her pack. She came to my pack to hide. It was during this t
