“Here you are!” I curved my lip slightly. Ember feigned ignorance since the news of the issue with Aurora. I could sense her awkwardness around me as she tiptoed around me.

“I dunno what you’re trying to imply, but I only mean that low-life doesn’t deserve all this much attention. It’s best we forget about her once and for all.” Ember said with an unconvincing voice.

I looked at her for some few seconds without replying, Finally, I took a weary sigh. “ Aurora means nothing to me, I’ve told you this many times. Clashing with the Silverfang pack right now isn’t beneficial to us.” I told her in a sharp tone. Discussing political objectives wasn’t among the list of things I wished to discuss with her Yet, I found myself doing the exact same thing.

My wolf was already exasperated with all the chaos and just wanted us to leave. But, I knew if I stepped out, it will only worsen the entire situation.

“I keep saying this to you. YOU’RE MY LUNA!” I snapped. Ember was taken aback, but she regained her composure quickly.

“I’ve waited for so long to hear you say those words to me. I can’t believe that vixen is still causing us so much conflicts even after she has left. That’s why I think we should make a final solution to get her out of our lives permanently. She’s doesn’t deserve to even be with Alpha Darius.” Ember slyly approached me. My wolf grunted in disgust. “What does she mean that Darius been with Aurora?” I thought to myself. Ember started kissing my neck and work her way down.

Before things got more intense, I gently brushed her away. “Had a long day today, I’m not really in the mood right now.”

I hurriedly rushed to bathroom. It wasn’t for any reason. I just needed some distance away from her. Hours later, I finally came out, to find her fast asleep. I took a deep sigh and changed into my silk pyjamas.

The next day, I woke up in a lighter mood. My first sight was seeing Ember adjusting her skin-tight light blue gown. It accentuated her curves seamlessly, she caught me staring at her through the reflection in the mirror. Unknowingly, I had a smirk on my face, which surprisingly pleased her even more.   

“Good morning Alpha, Hope I didn’t wake you. My father sent message that he will be here shortly.” Ember said in a hoarse voice. Before I could respond, she already jetted out like she was on a mission.

Immediately, I just knew a headache was coming up. Any meeting with Hunter never end well. I finally got out of bed several minutes later and got ready and got dressed in an Italian fitted 3-piece suit. I wanted to look sophisticated while I met up with Emily’s father.

Just as I stepped out from my private chambers, I was stunned to meet him in a dining area. All the palace staffs were no where in sight. It was just a spread of assorted food all over the table.

“Now I know who exactly who really controls this palace.” I mumbled to myself. I snapped back to reality as I addressed him.

“What can I do for you this early morning Hunter?” I asked in a serious tone. His face remain unfazed. He continued gazing at me deeply.

“Good morning Alpha, my apoligies for my abrupt visit. There are sensitive issues that have to be addressed.” He said in a sharp voice. I could sense a headache coming up.

“The issue of having a progeny is important for the future of our pack. My apologies for bringing this up, but as our Alpha it’s your duty to continue to the succession line..” He paused and stared into my eyes directly.

Like he wanted to confirm if I understood what he was implying. As an Alpha, there was no way I will be intimidated in my my own home. Regardless, of who he was I stared back at him deeply.

“With all due respect, I don’t need you telling me my duties of an Alpha. Regarding the subject of my progeny. I’ll definitely don’t need my father-in-law telling me how I to be with his daughter.” I said in a sharp tone. There was a sudden change in his facial expression. It looked like he still had some few words to say, but he changed his mind last minute.

I slightly curved my lips, my wolf growled in pride. “Finally, this old fox doesn’t have to say.” I thought to myself.

“I just wanted to remind you of how important it is to produce an heir to your pack. My daughter is the pride of my family, her happiness is of the highest importance to me.” He replied in a hoarse voice.

His demeanor changed from the tensed atmosphere earlier, he sounded more of a loving father. I took a deep sigh and slumped my shoulders slowly.

“Your daughter is also important to me. I won’t have chosen me to me by luna if I wasn’t sure about her.” I said with conviction. Yet, my heart huffed at my statement knowing fully well this was more a political arrangement. I watched him walk away and I wondered how long I can keep up with these unannounced visits. Also, why up till now Ember’s wolf hasn’t manifested yet.
