Aurora

The sky was pitch black with only lightning flashes through it. It carried thunderous sounds as if it cried with me. It rained vigorously, my feet mounted on the ground unwillingly to move.

I froze after the encounter with Darius earlier, there was something different about the way he gazed at me. His dark eyes were deep without any form of emotion. Only anger and disgust. It sent shivers down my spine. The gut punch really took me aback.

" Is this really the end between us? Just as things were about to take off,” I mumbled to myself.

“No!” I shook my head aggressively. I could not allow Damon to control my fate anymore. There was only one way to settle this once and for all.

Finally, I found the power to move my feet. Though, I was shivering with a cold. My entire body was trembling, yet the unquenchable anger in my heart gave me all the courage to face my worst nightmare.

Heading towards the guest lounge, I clenched my fists with only one goal in mind. Reaching the entrance,

DariusThe whole demure in the room shifted immediately from the entrance of Xander and the uninvited guests. I followed the direction of the voice to meet the familiar face of Alpha Marcus, Serena’s father. He was known all over the kingdom as a noble and fair Alpha. He was well-loved both in his pack and the entire kingdom. A great friend of my father, they wanted to further their close bond by uniting their children. But, it wasn’t meant to be as I never came to reciprocate the romantic feelings of Serena. In my eyes, she was just like a sister to me. She spent most of the time with Tessa growing up, which is why I understood Tessa's outburst reaction to these proceedings. It hurt her more because they were best friends, and they spent most of their childhood together hoping one day to become one family.“Welcome Alpha Marcus, I wished we met under better circumstances…” I glanced at the group of men behind him. He had his first son, Ian, the next alpha and also a friend of mine.

  • The Rise of the Rejected Luna   CHAPTER 81

Aurora“What do you want us to do with her?”I sat pondering on Darius’ question as we sat down in the throne room. It was fully stacked with the elders of the council. Even Tessa, who usually avoided these formal meetings, was also in attendance. She had a sympathetic look on her face, as Serena was brought to the center of the room. There was a loud gasp of awe as she was paraded for all to see. However, she had a non-remorseful expression as she dragged her feet sluggishly on the ground. She was bound with chains wrapped around her. This made it difficult for her to break free. The wolfsbane applied to her in the dungeon also drained away whatever strength she might possess. There were murmurs all around the room. “Is that not Serena? A close ally to us? Why would she do such a grievous act against her childhood friends?” These were the puzzling questions being whispered. Serena remained unfazed as she got to her knees in front of me and Darius. He cleared his cough to quiet down

  • The Rise of the Rejected Luna   CHAPTER 80

AuroraI felt a sharp headache as soon as I opened my eyelids. My head felt so heavy, I slowly adjusted to the surrounding environment. My eyesight remained foggy, as I struggled to see the person who sat down beside me. “Darius?” I sluggishly called out. The person jumped up from their seat and hugged me so tightly, that I had to let a cough out to breathe.“Aurora, I’m so glad you’re awake. Lemme get Darius now…” Before I had the chance to say anything else, they dashed out. From the hug, the body felt female. So I assumed the only person allowed to be in his room apart from me, was Tessa.“Tess…” I said in a coarse voice. Trying to get her attention was pointless as she was already out of the room. I could hear her shouting his name across the corridor.I looked around the ceiling, as if I was still frail after waking around. Tessa’s voice faded away till I could no longer hear it.I gently stared down at the sleeping garment that I was currently wearing. A curious thought came to

Three days.Three days later, Aurora laid down with her eyes shut tight. We summoned the best healers to check on her and revive her. Unfortunately, they all had the same conclusion.“Right now, she’s in a heavy slumber. She’s the only person who can wake up by herself. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst,” the last healer said in a sympathetic tone. The message was clear. Aurora was the only one who could wake up or not. And there is nothing we can do to change it.I clenched my fists till blood spilled out. I grunted in frustration at the various events that led to this moment. From the encounter they had with the rogues, months back in the marketplace. To this, in the forbidden cave, all the moment she was most vulnerable. However, I wasn’t there to protect her.“It’s all my fault. Maybe it’s true. She was only taken in my pack.” I took a weary sigh at how accurate this deduction was.My face turned crimson in rage with the thought of Damon grinning, as she was taken away

Serena“Aurora is finally dead!” I shouted with my hands moving in jubilation. For so many months, that was my deepest desire and prayers. She was the bane of my existence. I had envisioned marrying Darius for many years, becoming the Luna of Silver Crest pack. This union would make me among the strongest lunas in the kingdom. Probably even stronger than Ember.“When I become luna, I won't need that arrogant she-wolf any longer. She always looks down at everybody like she’s above all. I’ll put her in her place, but I’ll wait till after my coronation to take care of her.” I giggled at the thought on her knees, begging me for leniency. All the humiliation I faced in Silver Crest was caused by Aurora. Remembering how Darius rejected me severely brought a sour taste in my mouth.“Darius couldn’t take his eyes off me, never imagined him having the strength to resist me. He even rejected my advances, just because of that wrench!” I grunted just thinking how my pack would have been ashamed t

  • The Rise of the Rejected Luna   CHAPTER 77

AuroraIt was the break of dawn, the sun was already up. Its rays illuminated the path out of the cave. As soon as I stepped outside, I used the back of my palm to cover the bright light entering my eyes.“Where’s Serena?” I thought to myself. I slowly transformed back to my normal state. The resolve to catch up with her and pay back all the pain she inflicted on me was stirring in my chest. I clenched my fists as I tried to follow her footprints in the soil outside the cave. “She can’t be too far.” I murmured to myself. It felt like barely an hour after she left me with those burly men. Yet, time seemed to have stayed still as each second felt like an eternity inside the dark cave. The fear of not seeing the next day, seeing the people I love. “Darius…” A wave of sadness washed over me. “I can only imagine how worried he would be. This was supposed to be a day of joy that turned into heartbreak.” The thoughts were all I could think of. The fact I was taken again, was unimaginable.
