Dear Mate, we meet again

Derek’s POV

I froze the moment I saw her face. “Selene?”

It’s not possible, I thought she was long dead, but after three hundred years, she had not aged a day either. Clearly she shared my curse of immortality, and somehow she had managed to avoid me all these while.

“Please let me go, leave us alone!” She cried as she pulled her arm out of my hands and ran to her lover on the floor.

“Joseph, are you alright?” She asked him.

I was too stunned to speak. My mate who had disappeared three centuries ago was in the middle of Beverly woods, making love with a human boy!

I immediately grabbed her by the hair and pulled her up while she screamed. “For three hundred years, you have evaded me, but finally fate has put you in my hands, I will make pay for everything you cost me, Selene.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about, please just leave us alone!”

Hearing her declare her care for another man made my blood boil with rage. Her audacity to defend her human lover.

“Alpha, we need to leave now,” one of my men announced as the rest of the group rejoined us.

“Kill the boy, Selene is coming with us!”

Julio did as I instructed immediately. He lifted the human and plucked out his heart, leaving his body to drop on the floor.

“Nooo!!” Selene screamed, struggling to go to him. “Joseph!!”

I immediately hit her hard on the head and she passed out. Staring at her unconscious body, I was filled with rage.

What a slut, sleeping with humans, she had no shame left.

“Carry her!” I ordered one of my men and we headed deep into the woods.

I walked into the room and met Blake carving a wood, he saw me come in and looked away, focusing on his art like it was the most important thing in the world.

“Are you not going to talk to me?” I asked softly.

He sighed and looked up. “There is nothing to talk about.”

“You are angry.”

Once again he slowly looked up, then he dropped the wood and walked to me. 

“No, I am disappointed. You found me as a child, Derek. You raised me like a son, made me your Beta when I came of age. You taught me how to survive. We are rogues, and rogues are criminals. Commiting crime is what we do to survive, but there were rules and you just broke one of them.”

“Blake, I…”

“No, Derek. You are Alpha and I respect you, but there is no justification for what you have done tonight. We do not get involved with humans, that has been our rule for ages, we don’t interfere in their lives, that’s how we have kept the truth of our existence a secret, a fairytale. Yes, we are rogues and rogues don’t follow rules, but there is a limit and I begged you not to attack them.”

“Humans are no different from us wolves, they are vile creatures filled with hate and greed…” I argued

“No, they are weak and we don’t prey on the weak and defenseless. Is there no honor among thieves? Attacking, molesting and abusing humans? Is that how low we have gone?”

I let out a sigh, knowing I could never win this argument, but I would not apologize. Everybody knows I don’t apologize, not even to Blake whom I respect the most.

“But if I didn’t attack them tonight, then I would have never found her.”

“Found who?” Blake asked.

“Selene! My mate, I found her! I should have known, what better place to hide for ages than with the humans, knowing that I would never come looking for her there.”

Blake furrowed his eyebrows. “Wait, Selene is real?” He asked.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “Why don’t you come see for yourself, Blake?”

We went to the storeroom where her unconscious body lay, I removed the hair from her face, she didn’t look a day over eighteen.

She brought this curse upon us!

“Are you sure that is her?” Blake asked and I immediately growled at him.

“I am just saying, man. She looks like a regular human.”

“Don’t let her innocent face fool you. The whore is cunning, sly like a fox. I made the mistake of trusting her once and it cost me everything. My wolf, my home, my title, even my life. Never again would I be deceived by her!”

Blake sighed and shook his head. “I will be with the rest of the Pack, and Derek… please no more raids on humans.”

“Don’t worry, our days of being rogues are close to over. Moreover the humans must have learnt their lesson, they will stay out of our woods now!”

I heard his footsteps as he walked away, I squat down beside Selene, watching her lay there unconscious.

For three hundred years I have told our story, and many think I made it up, until I watch them grow old and die.

But now I have her in my possession, I can finally be free, and I will take my revenge! I will make her suffer until her last breath!
