It was almost midnight when we all gathered around the fire. The senior year students of Oakview High School had decided to throw a secret bonfire party in the middle of the night to celebrate our fast approaching final exams.

He took my hand and led me into the dark woods, the noise from the bonfire was dying out the further we went.

“Where are we going?” I asked in a hushed voice, starting to get scared.

“We are almost there,” he said.

Just then I saw light ahead, a fire torch burning in the woods.

“What is that, Joseph?” I asked nervously.

“A Surprise for you, my love.”

We got there and my jaw dropped in amazement. “Oh My Goodness,” I muttered.

It was a clearing in the wood, one fire torch and one lamp lit. There was a mat placed on the ground with flower petals all over it, and another fire lit on the floor beside it.

“Joseph, you did this for me?” I asked with teary eyes.

“Yes my love, I want you to know how special this night is to me.”

Just then we were interrupted by the beeping of my wristwatch. It was 00:00!!

“Happy birthday Lily Roosevelt, you are the best thing that has happened to me.” He smiled at me.

“Thank you Joseph.” I hugged him so tight. “I love you.”

He held my jaw and stared at my lips, then our mouth clashed in a fierce kiss. It was raw and devouring.

Joseph immediately pulled me behind him. “Leave us alone, we don’t want any trouble.”

The man cackled. “They maybe you shouldn’t be in the middle of the woods at midnight, fucking like rabbits.” He replied.

“Run!” Joseph screamed and took my hand, but just as we turned around, we ran into two other men with blood on their faces.

“I will take the girl,” the first man said in a deep voice and approached us.

Joseph immediately threw a punch at him but he barely flinched, then they all laughed again.

He hit Joseph and sent him falling on his butt, then he grabbed my arm.

“Let me go!” I screamed.

He raised the fire torch to my face and suddenly he froze. “Selene?” He muttered, a look of surprise in his silver eyes.
