Chapter 4

As I walked home, although tired after a day`s work, I happy about my new job. Sam was also the best boss ever. I just knew that I was going to enjoy working for him. He was kind too and had even offered me a ride home but I had to refuse not wanting to become a bothersome employee. After all he had even offered me my salary in advance after I told him about my situation. Which meant that I could quickly move into my own place and stop overcrowding at Anna`s. Its why I was walking late at night. I had to first visit my new place as luckily Anna knew people and had easily organized a place for me.

The home belonged to some elderly couple but they were apparently moving to another country to be near their grandchildren. And so they were renting out their place for cheap just wanting it to have some to live and maintain it. The rent was so cheap, and why I had rushed as soon as work finished to go see it.

If late, I knew someone else would snatch it up.

It was also near the butchery, which meant I would save too on transport.

While heading there I head to pass some fenced park or forest and the road was empty of people.

Having grown up back at the farm, surrounded by trees, I was not afraid much of walking in such eerily places. It was a quiet and peaceful with less people to dodge and noisy cars. So I liked it.

But I was shocked as out of nowhere, something really really huge jumped from the huge fence to right on top of me.

Causing me to fall right smack on the grass.

A small scream quickly left my lips as I opened my eyes to stare at a really abnormally large wolf on top of me.

“Just eat the meat and don’t eat me,” I could only shout sacredly as I placed the hand holding the meat, offering it to the beast.

Sam had packed some of the extra meat for me to go cook home. But damn it seems that kindness was about to lead to my death.

Had the wolf smelled the meat from the other side, causing it to jump me?

And was I really going to die today just like that from being ravaged and eaten by a wolf!

Oh dang how had I ended up stumbling into a red riding hood nightmare!

More panic filled thoughts invaded my head as I shook in fear, waiting for this abnormally large midnight black wolf to finally eat me.

To bite my head off.

And there was nothing I could do for it weight tons and looked really strong, like a wolf on steroids! Lots and lots of them!

I continued shaking in fear, as I lay underneath the wolf shaking helplessly.

But instead of biting my head off or even focusing on the meat I was offering,

I was shocked as the wolf instead his snout, to sniff me instead.

Then it jumped off looking like an excited puppy instead of the beastly looking abnormal wolf it was.

I first continued laying there on the ground debating whether to move or not. What if I moved and caused it to attack? Even though I was no wolf expert, I still did not want to die today.

Slowly I started moving, watching it closely with my heart racing from not wanting to be attacked. But as the Wolf continued looking relaxed, even laying on the grass to stare at me in great curiosity, I finally started calming down too. But I was still cautious, better safe than sorry!

Once I had fully stood up, I dropped the meat in front of the wolf, hoping it would get distracted eating it so that I could run.

But to my shock, the wolf ignored the meat and instead stood up to follow me.

Whenever I stopped walking, he too would stop.

“You are really going to follow me?” I asked staring back incredulously at this weird wolf.

Maybe it was my madness but I could swear that something, inhumane intelligence seemed to flash in its eyes. As if it really understood what I was saying.

“Can I have some space,” I said politely and was shocked to see the wolf stop and only follow with some space separating us.

Still I kept looking back with a part of me still scared that he could jump me from behind. Maybe he was playing some prey hunter game, planning to eat me later!

My phone was useless, the screen blank from having low battery so I could not call animal service or anything for help.

What would I even say, “Hello, I am being stalked by an abnormal looking wolf who has intelligent eyes and seems to understand human language?”

Ha I’m sure they would send me to an asylum for crazy people instead.

My focus soon turned to my new home, as the little gated house came into view.

Excitement quickly filled me at having a new little place of my own.

I closing the gate behind me even while knowing my new stalker wolf would only easily jump it instead.

I quickly rushed inside, and almost screamed at how cute the place was. The elderly couple had left it full furniture too which meant I did not have to buy a bed, a TV for it had everything. I had really hit the jackpot!

After excitedly checking everything out, I had a quick bath before going to explore my new bedroom.

The place had two bedrooms but the master one was locked and I was told to only unlock it for cleaning. But the other one I was free to use.

As I finally slept on a comfortable bed after days of sleeping on a sofa at Anna`s place, I could not help but sigh feeling relaxed.

However it was then I realized that in my excitement for my new place I had forgotten about the wolf! I quickly opened the curtain to my window and there he still was!

He sat relaxedly on the grass as if he had no other place to be than here. And as if he had sixth senses, he quickly noticed me as peeked from the curtain window.

“You stubborn wolf, what am I going to do with you.” I could not help but think. Wondering why me and where were his pack members.

Maybe he was lonely?

And was he even a wolf? What if he was some kind of genetically modify dog breed, Because well a dog I could do and keep. A wolf was unpredictable and could not be tamed.  And my father had never let me get pet, always talking about being watched from his paranoia.

Still though, with me being here in a new place, all on my own and away from other people, his presence strangely felt comforting. As if I had some large giant guard dog watching over me.

Maybe he really is a dog and not really wolf, I might keep him.

That was my last thought as I closed the window and fell asleep.
