Chapter 3

Axel`s  POV

It was just another day in the life of Axel Wolfrik or the King of the Rogues as he was commonly called by his people. Even humans respected him as Axel the Billionaire and owner of the billionaire enterprise Wolfrik.

His limo driver immediately rushed to open the door for him as they arrived at his Company.

He only employed his people, werewolf rogues, and their mates. This from wanting to have his freedom to use his werewolf abilities at work too, whenever he wanted.

Each employee that he passed, all lowered their heads in respect and none dared to stare him right in the eyes. Because in werewolf culture that was considered a challenge and no one dared to want to challenge him. After all, they knew how much he relished in destroying his enemies and those who dared try to think they could win against him. Axel also showed no mercy to traitors and had grown up learning to always fight for what he deemed his.

No one wanted to cross him especially because of his unstable wolf…Damon the barbaric beastly wolf. He possessed the most unstable and bloodlust craving wolf ever known.

Still, his wolf was the reason for how he ended up becoming a rogue and now their King.

So he owed all this Power to his wolf too.

Whenever his wolf angrily took over, you just knew that there would be blood. And in the werewolf kingdom, being the strongest was power.

A smirk immediately came onto Axel`s face as he recalled a time when some traitor rogues had ganged up to kill him. He had freely let his wolf take over, only to wake up covered in the blood of his enemies with all of them dead. That was the world of the rogues, either you killed or you would be killed.

And with him being the current King of the rogues, you won't imagine how many people had tried to kill him, wanting his throne.  After all, to become a rogue King, you had to kill the current King and then you could take over. And well...Axel was the only Rogue King to survive this long without getting killed.

After he killed the previous Rogue king as a young teenager, many had come for him thinking he was weak.  Only to regret it as they faced his devil-like wolf and only their deaths. Nowadays not many even bothered to try to take him on from being scared to lose their lives.

He was also the first Rogue King to tame the rogues. For in the old days, they used to invade werewolf packs, plunder food and land. With werewolf packs retaliating and killing them for being savages.

However, once he came into power, Axel had tamed the rogues using only one thing, wealth, money.

Unlike werewolf packs who preferred to live deep in the forests and avoid humans.

Axel had himself and the rogues, adapt and assimilate themselves into the life of humans. There he worked hard until he finally and successfully created his billion-dollar enterprise.

Instead of invading werewolf pack lands, all Axel had to do was give humans money and buy as many acres of land as he wanted and anywhere. Many of the rogues now had jobs and actually enjoyed living among humans. Where they could be far away from werewolf packs who looked down on them for not being part of packs.

And the only thing he asked in return for helping them, was their loyalty. One which the rogues, gladly gave to him as their King. For he had made being a rogue no longer be that bad after all.

Because of Axel, there was now also some kind of peace between rogues and werewolf packs.

But one thing he noticed, was how some silly Alphas thought that because there was peace, they could come and beg him for help. If only they knew that he actually loathed and hated werewolf packs because of his past.

But he started spinning this to his advantage. The more money those Alphas loaned from him, the more control they unknowingly gave him over theirs packs from debts owed.

Axel could feel his power growing, as more and more Alphas continued coming to him for help, instead of going to their so-called ‘Werewolf King’, his old bastard of a father.

He could not wait for his day of revenge on his father. To see the look on his royal face when he would realize it too late. That while he was busy ruining the werewolf kingdom, trying to war with Vampires, that all his neglected Alphas would now have offered their allegiance to his bastard and disowned son.

As Axel entered the elevator, his secretary immediately rushed after him.

“Sir, Alpha Ben of the heavenward Pack is here to see you,”

With a confident smile as the elevator door opened to the top floor of the building where his office was, Axel walked over to the Alpha.

“My prince,” The Alpha started, they all always did that, trying to gain favor with him by referring him with his old title. If only they knew how much he hated that. For he was no longer that weak young and clueless werewolf Prince they knew in the past. He was Axel Wolfrik, the King of the Rogues.

With another confident smirk, Axel quickly placed the contract after they finished discussing. He was a businessman too after all and never made any deals without contracts.

He always also made sure that his contracts had hidden clauses that benefited him more.

“A hundred million dollars to build more houses and resources for my pack. Plus protections and aid from the rogue army whenever my pack is attacked by Vampires. It’s a deal.”

Just like all the dumb Alphas who had come before him, usually blinded by either greediness for money or desperation to gain protection for their pack. The idiot Alpha just did a quick scan without reading much and signed. Not knowing that they were signing over their pack and allegiance to him. And when it would be time, Axel like a grim reaper was going to enjoy coming for collection.

There was nothing he enjoyed more than contributing to his father`s kingdom falling apart. And he was going to make sure it would crumble to pieces and his father would regret what he did to him as a child.

“A pleasure doing business with you Alpha Ben,” Axel spoke finishing the meeting and standing up to leave. However, he stopped midway as he passed Cade. Who was his second in command since rogues did not do pack ranks like beta, gamma, etc.

It was this trace of a magical unique scent wafting off from him. Axel could feel his sleeping wolf stirring and coming to life too because of that scent.

Without thinking, he grabbed Cade's arm roughly stopping him midway.

“What is that smell wafting off you,” he growled,

“What do you mean boss,” Cade looked startled wondering what this was about. His mind had been on the pretty woman that he had collided with downstairs. But she had rushed out before he could ask for her number or something.

“Am I really stinking that bad?” Cade continued asking, being Axel`s best friend too, he was one of the few people not afraid to freely speak with him.

He even leaned down to smell himself, wondering if he stank or something because he had sure as hell showered this morning. When he sniffed his arm, he smelled the same as he did every day. Same shower gel and all.

“Nothing…forget it,” Axel instead replied, taking his hand of his second in command as his eyes cleared back to normal. He quickly walked away not wanting to be questioned more, by a curious and talkative Cade.

Still, Axel found himself baffled. It was because his wolf had almost taken over from just one whiff of a strange scent and he wanted to know why.

In order to handle his unstable wolf, they had a deal, a co-living partners kind of deal. One was during the day, Axel was in control but at night he freely let his wolf Damon take over to hunt in the forest. With conditions of his wolf being allowed to hunt only animals and not kill any people unless they were a threat or enemies.

Shaking his head from thinking that maybe his wolf Damon was just messing with him. Axel walked away to continue the rest of his meetings and work.

After he was done with his day, he had his limo driver drop him at his usual spot. It was his privately owned forest park. One which he bought for his wolf to roam and hunt in. It had wildlife and everything found in a normal forest in the wilderness.

Sometimes only his trusted circle of rogues could also come and have access to it for their own wolves too.

They still had to shift constantly. For if you kept the animal caged inside, it would wreak havoc.

So as werewolves they had to constantly make sure their wolf was sated too.

Cade also arrived in his own car and was already taking off his shirt, getting ready to shift.

But as another person, his third in command also arrived and came to greet him, Axel was surprised to smell that scent again, but it appeared stronger on him!

“Hey, Sam! Race ya!” Cade shouted as he burst into his brown wolf, causing Sam to also shift into his and run after him. Just before Axel could ask him about the scent.

Maybe it's just all in my head,

Axel thought to himself as he also shifted into his own wolf. Even it was hard to not ignore the way his wolf seemed to get more excited.

“I want to wake up tomorrow, back home and on my bed buddy. Not naked in the forest.” He spoke in a warning to his troublemaking wolf, before letting it take full control and having himself fade into the darkness.
