I ran in a circle to make sure they wouldn't follow my scent. Once I was certain they wouldn’t be able to track me down, I shifted into my human form and quickly got dressed. Grabbing my backpack, I climbed up a tree.

Soon, I saw a group of wolves running after me, tracking my scent.

"How long are you going to keep running?"

I rolled my eyes. My wolf spirit and I had had this argument so many times that it was starting to get old. Ignoring her, I rested against the tree, watching as the wolves ran around, trying to follow my trail.

I was a rogue, and packs considered rogues a threat, so they hunted them down. I had been a rogue for years, ever since I ran away from home after my parents’ deaths. All I ever knew was how to take care of myself—forced to rely on my own instincts and independence. Now, I was used to this life, constantly moving. The idea of pack life bored me, and I had no interest in it.

It had taken me a long time to convince my wolf of this. One thing we always disagreed on was a mate.

I hated the idea that one day I would find my mate, that I would no longer be independent. I despised the thought of needing someone else to survive. The moment a wolf finds their mate, their entire mindset shifts—they become so dependent on that person, it was almost sickening. My wolf, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to find her mate.

"Once we find our mate, your carefree, independent days are over."

I huffed loudly at her words. Apparently, I made too much noise because the wolf below me snapped his head up, his sharp eyes locking onto me. Then, he howled, calling his pack.

I remained frozen in the tree, unsure of what to do as more wolves gathered beneath me. They growled, their eyes filled with predatory intent. Then, they started kicking the tree with their hind legs, trying to shake me down.

I did the only thing I could think of—I jumped.

As I leaped from the tree, I shifted midair into my white wolf, shredding my clothes in the process. I landed roughly on the ground, snatched my backpack in my mouth, and bolted as fast as I could.

I looked back—wolves were right on my tail.

I turned my head forward just in time to slam into something hard. My body jolted backward from the impact. Dazed, I lifted my gaze and locked eyes with a massive midnight-black wolf standing in my path, growling.

My wolf whispered in awe. Alpha.

She wanted to bow, but I refused.

More wolves circled around me, blocking every escape route. The black wolf moved behind a tree and shifted. When he stepped back into the clearing, my breath hitched.

He was gorgeous.

Dressed in black jeans and a tight white shirt that barely concealed his muscular chest, he had tanned olive skin that glowed under the sunlight. His dark brown hair was messy but effortlessly attractive, as if he hadn't even tried to style it. His features were sharp and defined, his nose slightly crooked at the bridge—evidence of a past break. His eyes, smaller yet piercing, studied me intently.

The only thing I refused to look at was his gaze.

"Shift, rogue, and explain why you’re traveling so close to our pack." His Alpha voice was commanding, leaving no room for argument.

I saw no point in resisting—there was no escape. Wolves blocked every possible route. So, I moved behind a tree and shifted, pulling clothes from my bag and dressing quickly.

When I stepped back into view, I kept my eyes lowered, avoiding his gaze. I had learned long ago never to look a male wolf in the eyes. The eyes were windows to the soul. The moment you locked eyes with the right—or, in my case, the wrong—person, you just knew. You knew they were your other half.

And I refused to be bound by such a thing.

"What is your name, and why are you traveling so close to my territory?" His deep voice carried authority, his towering presence making him even more intimidating.

I chose not to answer.

"Look at me when I’m talking to you!" he snapped.

"Just look at him, Iris," my wolf begged, desperation lacing her voice. It was as if she knew something I didn’t.

Before I could react, he grabbed my chin and yanked my head up, forcing me to meet his gaze.

The moment our eyes locked, I felt it.

A shockwave of electricity surged through me. My breath hitched, my entire body paralyzed by the overwhelming emotions crashing into me. My soul recognized his. He was mine, and I was his. Our destinies intertwined, bound by fate itself.

I wanted to fight it, to reject the connection. But I couldn’t look away from those deep baby-blue eyes.

"Mine." He growled in satisfaction.

Xavier’s POVFive years laterWhat is life? It's a selfish, unforgiving bitch—sorry, that was uncalled for, but it is.“Daddy!”A tiny blonde blur ran into the pack’s living room, screaming at the top of her lungs.“What, Rosalina?” I asked, sounding more annoyed than I meant to.She stopped, narrowed her blue eyes at me, and turned her back with her arms crossed.“You’re being mean. Now say sorry,” she said with that stubborn little frown I’d grown to love—and dread.I chuckled, tugged gently on the back of her dress, and pulled her into my lap. She still wouldn’t look at me.“I’m sorry, Princess. I didn’t mean to be grumpy.” I smiled, wrapping her in a warm hug.“Okay! I forgive you, Daddy! Look—my tooth fell out!” she exclaimed, opening her tiny hand to show me the small white prize.“Well look at that. You still look as cute as a button,” I grinned, admiring the little gap in her smile.“Daddy, I want to show Mommy!”I hesitated for a second, and then frowned. “Mommy’s not here, s

Rosalina’s POVLife is sometimes so cruel and unfair, but there’s nothing we can do about it. We try to move on as best we can—but I can’t. I just can’t.“Nana Rosy! Do you know where Dad is?” I asked as I ran into the kitchen, where she was preparing her famous blueberry pancakes.Today was the day Nana Rosy and Papa Ryder were heading back to Italy. They had invited me to come with them, but I couldn’t leave. I couldn’t leave my home. I couldn’t leave them—not yet.“I don’t know, dear. I think he might be up at Cherry Hill with your mother,” she said with a soft smile. As I turned to leave, I bumped into Beta John and his wife in the hallway.“Hello, Beta John,” I greeted politely. He looked down at me with a frown, and his wife seemed on the verge of tears. It was… odd. I never really talked to them. In fact, I didn’t talk to many people in the pack except my cousin Archie. People called me the most popular kid in the pack, but I always kept to myself.“Grazie, Nana. Ciao!” I kisse

"Do you think we could take a walk?" Victoria asked softly, her tear-streaked face looking up at me.I gave her a small, reassuring smile and stood."Sure—if it makes you feel better."She took my hand tightly, and we stepped outside into the cool evening air. A gentle breeze danced through our hair as we wandered slowly beneath the stars.I found myself getting lost in thought as we walked through familiar paths, the moonlight guiding our way. I glanced down at the promise ring glinting on my finger and smiled faintly.Xavier loved me. And I loved him.I couldn’t help but wonder—what if he had told me how he felt sooner? I always seemed to live in a world full of what ifs."Felicity, look..." Victoria said suddenly.I looked up, and my heart dropped. We were standing in that place. The one I had avoided for years—the lake where Daniel and I used to spend our time. The same place where he had taken his last breath."Is there a problem?" Victoria asked, glancing at me.I shook my head

I followed Xavier past the long rows of cells as the guards led us deeper underground—toward the one that held the traitor.Just when it felt like my life was finally falling into place, beginning to feel whole again, everything started shattering around me. All I wanted was peace—to walk off into the sunset with Xavier and Rosalina—but something told me that was still far from reach. We stopped at a heavy steel door. Xavier nodded at the guard, who unlocked it. The moment we stepped inside, the smell of dampness and mold clung to my nose."You fuckers really need to learn who not to trust," a familiar voice snarled. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I recognized the blonde figure chained to the wall.Trevor."You need to learn to let shit go," Xavier growled, his voice cold and dangerous.I felt Rosalina grip my shirt tighter, and I instinctively held her closer."Trevor, why would you do something like this?" I asked softly, trying to keep my voice steady. He looked up at me, his

"So… are you two mates?" I asked as we continued walking through the woods. We had been all around the territory delivering treats, but something felt… off. Like we were being followed."No, we aren’t mates," Victoria replied, glancing cautiously behind us. "We just haven’t found our actual mates yet, so we’re dating for now.""You feel it too, right?" I whispered, my instincts on high alert. She nodded, and we quickened our pace. Suddenly, there was rustling in the bushes behind us—we froze. I stepped in front of Victoria protectively, my body tensing as I held her trembling form behind me."Who’s out there?" I growled, baring my teeth slightly, ready to defend."Felicity?" a familiar voice called out.Trevor emerged from the bushes, disheveled and dirty, with leaves tangled in his hair. His expression was a strange mix of confusion and something darker—almost sinister."Trevor, what are you doing out here?!" Victoria yelled. He shrugged. "I like to take walks to clear my mind. It's

"But you never acted like a mother. You played with my head," I said, my voice tight with hurt. "One moment you told me you loved me and believed in me… and the next, you treated me like the rest of the pack—like you hated me."Her head dropped in shame.I know I’ve always said I’m a forgiving person—but they were my family. What they did broke me, physically and emotionally.“Please, just let us hold her,” my father pleaded, his voice uncharacteristically soft.I walked up to Rosy and smiled gently as I took Rosalina from her arms. She was still crying, but the moment I turned and handed her to Xavier, she instantly calmed down, resting her head on his shoulder with a soft sigh.“I’ll be in our room,” he said, kissing my forehead before heading upstairs with her in his arms.I watched as my parents left the pack house—my mother weeping in my father’s arms, and Rosy and Ryder standing off to the side, whispering to each other.Turning to the remaining chaos, I looked between Raven and
