Rory

I stared at the door, my breathing heavy. I had a choice to make. Walk away and take my daughter from here, but where would we go? Would Orion ever let us leave?

I inhaled sharply before knocking on his door and biting my upper lip while tapping my foot.

The door slowly opened, and there he was, peering his head out, drenched in sweat.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t know…” I stuttered, my eyes roaming around his face. His eyes narrowed as he looked at me. My cheeks flushed, and my heart raced.

“Red,” he whispered, then I heard rustling behind him.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to interrupt you. I’ll come back later,” I stuttered, taking steps back, and he nodded his head, not bothering to stop me, but his eyes slowly closed.

“Are you okay?” I asked, stopping in my tracks when I heard something like a woman’s voice in his room.

“I’m sorry… I’ll leave.” I turned on my heel, but then a thud came behind me. I turned around and found him on the floor.

“Orion!” I gasped, rushing to him as he struggl

OrionI woke up with a strange scent in my room. It lingered everywhere, and my wolf was already on alert, his ears pecking up.I snapped my eyes open, looking for the person who was in my room, but when my eyes fell on the woman curled up on the recliner, I sighed, sitting back.I rubbed my eyes; maybe I might have been dreaming because there’s no way he was in my room. I peeled the blanket off me and then got off the bed, striding towards her.I crouched in front of her, my hands itching to brush the curls that fell over her face. There was something peaceful about her that I couldn’t help but wish I could be like her.I inhaled sharply. She could hate me in the morning for putting her in my bed, but there was no way I could let her sleep in the recliner, so I gently wrapped my arm around her and the other one under her knees, then carried her back to my bed.She snuggled her head into my chest, groaning softly, and I smiled at myself. She was always such a heavy sleeper, even befor

Rory“No, he’s just trying to manipulate you,” Dylan said, shaking his head as I explained to him what happened when I went to check on Lauren later.“Is it true, though? Can they take her?” I asked him. My heart was racing, and he pressed his lips together, but I could see in his eyes. This was true. I had to give up on my daughter being raised by other people.“Why are you letting him register her? She can be his daughter even without official titles.” He questioned, his arms crossed over his chest.“He thinks whoever poisoned her food did it knowing the consequences wouldn’t be that dire, considering only a few know she is his daughter,” I explained, but he shook his head, sucking his teeth.“I don’t like this, Ro. A lot of things could go wrong, and you will be stuck in a loveless marriage,” he shrugged his shoulders.“I know. But he said he would have to take a woman so he could raise her. Is that true?”“Yes?” He nodded.“So, they might actually take her away. Oh goddess”“It’s

Orion“So, what do you think?” I asked her, and she stared at me blankly, uncertainty written all over her face.“And why on earth would I do that? Wasn’t my sister enough?” She asked, crossing her arms over her chest. My heart thundered at the thought of whoever tried to kill our daughter.“I’m not doing this for me.”She chuckled dryly, biting her lower lip while she swung her leg back and forth. She stopped, then began tapping while I watched her.“I knew it. I knew eventually you would try to use her. I can’t believe I almost trusted you,” she growled, shaking her head as she took steps back.“I don’t have any plans. But think about it. She’s not safe. You will have the power to do everything as my Luna. You can—”“You just want to tie me down to you, just like you wanted before. I’m not a possession, Orion,” she snapped, her lips trembling even as she spoke, and my heart sank at the thought of what she was insinuating.“Red,” I reached for her, but she took a step back.“Don’t. D

Rory“Wolfsbane?” I questioned the word that failed to come out of my mouth.“Yes, it’s still in her blood. That means it was ingested within the last forty hours.”“No.” I rasped, my mouth opening but slowly closing. Who would try to poison her?“Yes, we’ll do everything we can to make sure she and the baby are both safe.” The doctor assured, his voice was professional yet kind.“Thank you,” I whispered. ‘When can I see her?”“As soon as we transfer her to her room. You can see her,” he said, and I nodded, moving back. Staring at the door. Someone poisoned her and the baby. I needed to find out who would do something like this.“Red,” Orion whispered, his voice low and calm. I lifted my eyes; I had forgotten for a minute that he was here.“I will have my men look into everything that went into your room,” he said, coming closer, and I chuckled dryly, but my chest tightened.“This is your fault.”“Red”“Don’t fucking touch me,” I said, moving away from him. “This is your fault, Orion.

Rory“LJ, you good?” I asked Lauren later in the day when she winced, holding her back. She has complained of a backache since we were dragged back here three days ago. I place my book on the side table, watching her as she limps around the room, heading to her bed.“I’m good, Rory. I’ll just get some rest,” she groans, but I’m already up on my feet, stalking towards her. When she hears my footsteps, she glances over her shoulder.“I’m fine, Rory. Don’t—” before she finishes her sentence, she winces, her breath getting heavy.“Okay, that’s enough. We’re going to see the doctor,” I concluded, wrapping my arm around her waist despite her protests.“No, the girls.”“They will be fine. We need to get you to a clinic,” I insisted, helping her onto the couch. Dylan was out for the day, going to look for a job because he doesn’t want to depend on Orion and plans to move out if we’re staying here. She screams behind me when I move away, rushing to grab my phone. I don’t know where to go or wh
