Ethan

I hesitate just outside the door, hearing faint music pouring out from inside. For a second, I think about turning back, about leaving things the way they’ve been. But deep down, I know nothing will change if I don’t make the first move. If I don’t take the risk now, this distance between us will keep growing, and I can’t let that happen. Not anymore.

I knock a few times, and after a brief pause, I hear a soft “come in.”

When I step inside, I’m struck by how different the room looks compared to the last time I saw it. The once-cluttered space has been transformed. The boxes are gone, replaced by fabric draped across the floor. Canvases of all sizes line the walls, some unfinished, some barely started. In the middle of the room is Rose, standing amid a dozen half-finished paintings. She looks startled by my presence, her eyes wide, caught between focus and surprise.

“Hey, Ethan,” she said, wiping her hands on her jeans. “What are you doing here? Am I interrupting in here?”

“No, of course not.” I shake my head quickly. “I just… I wondered if we could talk.”

“Sure,” she said, sitting down on the couch in the corner, pulling her knees up to her chest. Her movements are careful, as though she’s guarding something fragile inside herself. I sit across from her, trying to steady my nerves.

“What did you want to talk about?” she asked, her voice quieter now. I notice her biting at the bracelets around her wrist, a nervous habit I hadn’t picked up on before.

I take a deep breath. “It took a lot of courage to come here, so I hope you’ll understand. I want to talk about us.”

“Us?” she echoes, her brow furrowing slightly. “What about us?”

“We’re mates, Rose,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “And I don’t think you fully understand what that means. I’m not here to force you into anything, but we need to talk about the consequences of ignoring it.”

She doesn’t say anything, just nods for me to continue. Her eyes flicker with something, uncertainty, maybe curiosity, and I decide to take the leap.

“You don’t have your wolf yet, and maybe you don’t want it. But you need to know what you’re losing by keeping it hidden. The wolf inside you - it’s not just some beast. It’s a part of you, a part that understands you better than anyone ever could. It’s a gift from the moon goddess herself, a piece of magic woven into your soul. And your mate…” I pause, letting the words sink in. “A mate is more than just someone you love. They’re the other half of you, of your wolf. It’s a pull, something electric, that can’t be explained. When a mate is near, nothing else matters. When I breathe you in, Rose, all my problems fade away. But when you’re not there…”

I trail off, swallowing the lump in my throat. I’m afraid of saying too much, of overwhelming her.

“I don’t want to scare you,” I continued, my voice softer now. “But it’s so hard for me, and for my wolf, to be apart from you. I spent ten years searching for you. I don’t want to wait anymore. I want to be here for you, even if it means just being your friend. You are my sun and my moon, Rose, and I don’t want to walk this earth without you by my side.”

I stop, letting the silence stretch between us. I can see the hesitation in her eyes, the war she’s waging inside herself. But beneath that hesitation, I can see something else - a spark, faint but growing.

Then, without a word, she stands up and walks toward me, closing the distance between us. Time seems to slow as she leans in, her face inches from mine. And when her lips meet mine, it’s like everything I’ve been holding back comes rushing out. The spark ignites into a burning flame. Her lips are soft, warm, and sweet, and as her tongue brushes against mine, it feels like I’ve been waiting my entire life for this moment.

I don’t know how long we kissed, lost in each other, but when she finally pulled away, she stayed close, her breath hot against my skin. The world around us feels different now, like something has shifted between us.

“What was that for?” I managed to ask, my voice hoarse.

She looks at me, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and resolve. “I can feel it,” she whispered. “I can feel the pull. I’ve never felt anything like this before. I want to be near you, Ethan - every minute, every hour, every day. And it scares me. But you’re right.”

“About what?” I asked, hesitating, afraid to hope.

She takes a deep breath, her chest rising and falling in a slow, deliberate rhythm. Her lips part, and when she speaks, her voice is steady, yet laced with the kind of raw emotion that makes my pulse thunder in my ears.

“In these past three months, my heart broke every time we were apart. I kept telling myself it wasn’t real, that I didn’t need you, but… I do. I don’t want to feel that ache anymore. I’m ready. I’m ready to be with you. In every way.”

I blink my eyes open, still groggy from the flight.“Are we about to land?” I asked, my voice rough.“Yeah,” he replied, his tone clipped but calm. “We’ll be landing in Moscow in half an hour.”I rub the sleep from my eyes and try to shake off the fog. “Remind me again, why are we here?”Dylan glances at me over his laptop screen, his fingers still typing. “Grace spotted something in Moscow’s local news. A man was found in the woods without his heart. It’s our best lead on Andromeda.”I nod, feeling the familiar weight of responsibility settle back over me. The thought of what we’re chasing, what’s out there, leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. As I stirred from sleep, I noticed a smear of red paint on Ethan’s cheek. I smiled, wiping it off gently, and leaned in to kiss him softly.“Good morning, love,” he murmured, his voice still husky from sleep. The way he called me ‘love’ sent chills through my entire body, a warmth spreading deep within me.“Good morning,” I replied, my heart fluttering as I smiled back at him.The knocking at the door suddenly stopped, and I heard Grace’s teasing voice cut through the stillness. “If you two lovebirds finish fucking already, you’ve already missed morning training and breakfast!”We both chuckled, sharing a knowing glance. Standing up, we began dressing, the laughter still lingering between us. But before Ethan left, he pulled me close and kissed me deeply, with a passion that made my legs weak. DylanAfter breakfast, Alpha Dimitri leads us into his office. The room is vast, with high ceilings that make it feel almost cavernous. Heavy mahogany furniture fills the space, giving the room an ancient, almost oppressive atmosphere. Everything looks like it’s been here for centuries, well-maintained but undeniably old. Dimitri moves to a cabinet on the side, pours five glasses of expensive-looking cognac, and hands us each a glass. The drink is rich and smoky, a stark contrast to the cold air outside. We sit around the massive desk, and Alpha Dimitri takes his place in the large chair behind it. He sips his drink slowly, tapping his fingers on the polished wood, the sound echoing in the quiet room.“Well,” Dimitri began, his deep voice heavy with a Russian accent, “business before pleasure, as you Americans say. Let’s discuss the reasons that brought you here.”Nathaniel leaned forward, his tone serious. “Alpha Dimitri, our intel informed us about the man found in the forest, and w

RosemaryThe potion is finally ready and there’s a full moon tonight, and I can’t keep anything down. Amber’s herbs, meant to help me relax, feel utterly useless as I threw up for the third time this morning. I didn’t realize my nerves could hit me this hard. I’m trembling, not just from the nausea, but from the fear of what’s coming.Today, Nathaniel and Dylan are returning from Russia, and I know Grace is just as on edge as I am - though for different reasons. She hasn’t seen Dylan in almost three months, and lately, she’s been more flustered than usual, making jokes about being hornier than a teenage boy discovering his sexuality. I can’t help but laugh at her bluntness, but there’s a part of me that’s afraid they won’t make it back in time for my shift tonight.I need Nathaniel. He’s been my rock through all of this. The thought of going through the transformation without him by my side terrifies me.Ethan and I have grown so close these past three months. I’ve seen the different

After our third round, Liam and I had marked each other, finally sealing our mate bond, making everything official. Even now, I can feel the new bite mark on my neck tingling, a constant reminder of what we now share.“Are you nervous?” Liam asked, his voice soft as we walked side by side.I let out a bitter laugh. “About coming out to my entire family and friends, or the possibility that one of my best friends could die tonight? Yeah, a huge yes to both.”Liam stops walking and pulls me into an embrace, his arms wrapping around me like he’s trying to shield me from everything. “Everything will be alright,” he murmured. “You’ll see.”We held each other for a long moment, his warmth steadying me, but eventually, we parted and continued walking toward Amber’s house. You’re going to miss your chance if we don’t move.”I nodded, understanding the urgency, though the tension in the air was thick. We reach Amber’s house, and she’s already outside, standing still, holding a glass bottle in her hand. The gravity of the moment settles on my chest like a weight I can’t shake.“Let’s go. We don’t have much time,” Amber said, her voice calm but resolute. We follow her back to the clearing, where everyone else is already waiting - silent, expectant. EthanI couldn’t take my eyes off Rose. Time felt irrelevant, minutes stretched into what could have been hours. The rhythmic beeping of the machines and her shallow breaths were the only signs of life. Her once-vibrant skin looked ashen, and her body, so still now, carried the weight of something unknown, something dangerous. The confusion, the fear, it all swirled around me, suffocating me as I waited for answers that I feared might never come. The door creaked open, and Nathaniel stepped in, still dressed in his wedding suit, though he’d ditched the jacket. His disheveled appearance mirrored the chaos that had erupted in our lives. His usually playful demeanor was absent, replaced with something somber.“We can’t find Amber anywhere,” Nathaniel said, his voice low, burdened with a sense of failure.“What do you mean you can’t find her?” I shot back, my voice rising, a desperate edge sharp

EthanAs Nathaniel and Liam’s kiss ended, they leaned into each other, their foreheads touching, lost in the intimate silence of their love. The clearing was filled with the sounds of cheering, laughter, and celebration, but at that moment, it felt like time stood still for them. I moved forward, ready to embrace my best friend and share his joy, but the atmosphere suddenly shifted. A loud scream pierced the air, shattering the peaceful moment.I whipped around and saw Rose on her knees, her arms wrapped tightly around herself, her face contorted in pain. Fear gripped me, my heart pounding as I sprinted toward her. By the time I reached her, she had collapsed, unconscious, her body limp in my arms.“Rose!” I shouted, my voice thick with panic. I gathered her into my arms, her skin cold against mine, her breathing shallow. My pulse raced as I felt a crowd gathering around us, their murmurs blending into a distant hum, but the only thing that mattered was the woman in my arms. Her face,

Rosemary Today was Nathaniel and Liam’s wedding, a day the pack had eagerly awaited. The air was filled with excitement, love, and joy, but I couldn’t shake the unease building inside me. I had been feeling unwell since the morning, but I did my best to push through, wanting to be present for Nathaniel’s big day. Grace, always the multitasker, had taken on the role of wedding planner and was rushing around to ensure every detail was perfect. I tried to help where I could, but my body felt heavier, weaker than usual. The ceremony was set to take place in a secluded clearing deep within the forest, a place that seemed to be kissed by nature itself. As I made my way closer to the clearing, the breathtaking beauty of it all hit me. The sunlight filtered gently through the towering trees, casting a golden glow on the vibrant greenery that surrounded us. Wildflowers bloomed at the edges of the clearing, their bright colors contrasting with the deep greens of the forest. The smell of pine a

  • The Rose Luna   Chapter 47

DylanA strange quiet was settled over the pack, the kind that didn’t bring peace. It was the calm before the storm, the air thick with tension as we all waited for Andromeda to make her move. No one said it outright, but I knew everyone could feel it - like a predator circling, just out of sight. I had been in enough battles to know that this kind of stillness isn’t natural; it’s calculated. And if I could feel it, I knew Ethan did, too.Ethan’s always carried the pack’s weight on his shoulders, but lately, it has been different. There was a heaviness in him that wasn’t there before, like he was wrestling with shadows I couldn’t see. I was used to his relentless work ethic, the way he poured himself into every detail of running this pack. But it was more than that now. He was pushing himself harder, training with a single-minded intensity that would be impressive if it weren’t so worrying. I didn’t think he had slept a whole night in weeks.Last week, I caught him out in the training

RosemaryIt had been four months since that night by the creek, the night I drank Amber’s potion, sealing away a choice I didn’t fully understand. I hadn’t dared return to that spot - not even once. The memory of it haunted me, the way the moon had hung so heavily, casting an eerie glow on the water as I swallowed the bitter liquid that was supposed to end everything. Since that night, I had felt different, altered in some intangible way, as though I had stepped into a shadow that followed me everywhere, clinging to my skin.My body betrayed me daily. Fatigue sank deep into my bones, the kind of exhaustion that sleep could never touch. No matter how many hours I slept, I always woke feeling as if I’d been carrying a weight all night. Even the simplest tasks left me winded, my muscles ached as though I’d run for miles. Every step felt heavy, as if invisible chains weighed down my feet. Something was wrong, and yet, I couldn’t find the will to question it. I had made a decision that nig

RosemaryThe night of the full moon arrived, and I brewed the tea Amber had given me in a thermos, the bitter herbs swirling together like an ink-stained solution to all the chaos swirling inside me. As I stepped out into the cool night, I felt the familiar pull of my wolf, that instinctive desire to shift under the full moon, to let go and run wild through the forest. The urge was powerful, stronger than ever before, but I couldn’t give in tonight. Not until this was done. The moon hung high in the sky, bathing the woods in silver light, casting shadows that danced as I made my way to the creek I had found on my first shift. It was fitting, I thought, to return to the place where I had first felt the raw power of my wolf - where I had first realized what I truly was. But tonight wasn’t about connecting with my wolf. It was about taking back control.I arrived at the creek, the air cool and crisp against my skin. I sat beneath the familiar tree, the same tree that had given me comfort

RosemaryThe heavy fog in my brain slowly began to lift. It was like clawing my way out of a deep, suffocating pit, but eventually, I found my way back to consciousness. My body felt weak, like I had been wrung out and left to dry. My throat felt raw, as if I had swallowed sand, and when I tried to speak, no sound came out. My eyelids fluttered open, but the light was too bright, stabbing into my eyes, forcing me to shut them again.I tried again, this time more slowly. As my vision cleared, I saw him - Ethan. He was sitting in a chair right next to the bed, his head resting on the edge of the mattress. His face was peaceful, his chest rising and falling softly as he slept. A faint snore escaped his lips. Even in sleep, he looked so protective, so close.I didn’t want to wake him, but I shifted just enough to make him stir. His eyes opened immediately, concern flashing across his face the moment he saw me awake.“Rose, you’re awake!” His voice was filled with a mixture of relief and a

EthanI sat beside her hospital bed, my heart pounding in my chest. The cold, sterile atmosphere of the hospital was suffocating. The rhythmic beeping of the machines was the only sound breaking the silence, but all I could focus on was her - Rose, lying there, looking so small, so fragile. This wasn’t her. The woman I knew was a firestorm, full of life and strength. But now, her skin was pale, her lips cracked, and she looked like she was made of glass, ready to shatter at any moment.I leaned forward, brushing a strand of hair from her face. Her skin felt cool to the touch, much too cold. A lump formed in my throat as I struggled to contain the rising fear. I had never felt so helpless. I, the Alpha, the one who always had to be strong, was now at the mercy of fate - waiting, hoping, praying.Where had I gone wrong? How could I not have known? EthanAfter a long, exhausting day in the office, all I wanted was to crawl into bed next to Rose. Being near her had become something I couldn’t live without. Her warmth, her presence - it was all that allowed me to truly rest. But when I knocked on her door, there was no answer. I tried again. Still nothing.A strange unease crept into my chest. I turned the handle and opened the door to find the room cold and dark. A quick glance revealed the impromptu art studio she’d been using was untouched. Something wasn’t right. I decided to wait for her, assuming she’d show up soon, and sat down on the bed, scrolling through work emails on my phone. Slowly, exhaustion won, and I drifted into an uneasy sleep.A while later, I stirred awake. The room was still dark, and her side of the bed remained untouched. Panic started to gnaw at me. A quick glance at my phone told me it was 2 a.m. I tried to link Rose through the pack-link, but there was no response. I tried again. Still nothing. The knot
