Chapter 5

At this point, I needed to know what her end game was, but at the same time, I wanted to protect her with everything in me. This mate bond was going to be a problem at a certain point! I took a step closer with my hands in my pocket looking at the man who dares to challenge me.

"Talk, I will give you five minutes before I rip you into thousands of pieces!" I said with a low growl making him aware of my power.

"I can't go back out there, they will haunt me and kill me! I need protection!"

"Well, let's see how interesting your story is before I offer protection!" I said seeing how his eyes darted from me to Evan who looked pissed. I asked Evan to leave with the nurse so that I can have a conversation with our new friend here. After they left I took a seat showing him my watch.

"My time is limited and so is my patience!"

"So is Katherine's, after her father's death she turned into this monster! Do you know how we caught her trace?"

"Blood banks?" I asked and to my surprise he laughed at my answer.

"Not even close, she left a trail of dead bodies for us without hearts, this is the first time that we found her in seven years!" he said leaving me stunned by his words. That means that my mate has been on the run since she can remember and becoming this was not a choice to her, but rather survival.

"So? Where do I fit into your little hunting spree?"

"We knew that she was going to come back, so the council thought that they needed to protect you against her!"

"This chat was good, but you're useless to me.."

"Wait! Trackers killed her father and now they want to do the same to her!"

"What did you just say?" grabbing my full attention. "You heard me, look since I became one they always hated the idea of the vampires as they created the order in the first place.."

"De La Dici's created the council, but what does this have to do with her?"

"Everything, her people are returning and do you know what scares them the most?" he asked lifting himself on the bed and moaning from pain.

"What?"

"That she returns with the rogues!" he said leaving me speechless by his words. If this was true that means she is more unstoppable than before. I got taken from my thoughts when he spoke again:

"She is now the queen of the underworld, rumors have it that there is even a Lycan in the mix!" His words were like petrol on the burning fire inside of me. I looked at him with a psycho smile I said that I will give him protection as he might be useful to me. Once his facial expression changed to relief that is when I left.

"Where are you going Alpha!"

"None of your fucking business!" I said taking off. I went into the woods trying to find her scent and within seconds I found her ripping out a tracker's heart with a smile. This was supposed to scare me and make me build my walls higher, yet with her, things were so much different. My wolf was howling inside seeing what she was capable of. I took a step closer clapping my hands seeing how her focus snapped towards me with an irresistible smile.

"What brings you to the east side, Alpha?"

"I came here to talk, I have a tracker in my clinic willing to talk!" I said knowing that I might make a mistake that was going to cost me, but deep down inside I just wanted to protect my mate even if that meant putting my ass on the line.

"You came all the way here to tell me that? You crossed your border!" she said pointing towards the woods seeing how my warriors were standing right behind me.

"You want the truth Katherine, and I can give it to you, 'cause we both know that a wolf was not involved!" I said taking a step closer.

"So you want to clear your side this is what it is about?" she said walking up to me with swaying hips making me beg for mercy, but that was not going to happen right now.

"Maybe, maybe not!" I said. Our phones went off seeing a message from the council. We both looked at each other in disbelief.

"Let's go!" I said pulling her towards the road but stopped when she pushed me away.

"I am not going with you, I can manage on my own!" "Trust me, please?" I said seeing how pain was reflected in her eyes before it changed to emotionless. "I give you my word!" I said before I looked at my men commanding them to step down before I called out to Evan.

"Clean the west wing, no wolf's to be seen in a twenty miles, if I catch a wolf his or her head will fly!" I said with alpha eyes. I took her hand in mine walking towards my car. The drive was silent until we stopped by the clinic. We got out walking towards the clinic feeling her guard up. It is strange how the bond is not completed yet, but I can feel some of her emotions and I am sure she can feel the same. I showed her to the room where the tracker was laying. I opened the door only to hear his voice yelling at her.

"What the fuck is she doing here! You bitch! You killed my brothers!" He yelled leaving me to grab him by his throat with a swift move I felt Katherine's hands pulling me back.

"We need him alive and you know that!" she said with burning eyes with her hands still on my arms. Her touch was burning lust into my body. She then looked down noticing that her hands were still on me so she took a step back drawing her attention to the tracker. "He might have promised you protection, but I did not promise you anything!"

"You need me Katherine!" he said with a cocky voice but was soon replaced speechless with a pale face.

"I need blood, I don't need you, but there is blood pumping through your body so I do need that! I can easily drain you, but you see the man over there might stop me in time or he won't! So don't flatter yourself!" she said as she took a step closer with each word leaving the man rattled up. I loved this side of her, she was waking up the demons inside of me.

"Why are you hunting the wolves?" she asked leaving me confused for a second knowing that he said that they are protecting us from her. I took a step closer ready to rip him apart if he dared to lie to me again.

"Is this true? you have been hunting my pack?"

"She is laying that is what she does! She is going to turn you against the council!"

"Why would I do that? When you are already doing that!"

"He is smart.."

"Yes, smart enough to pick up on a lie. A few minutes ago I ripped your friend's heart out that was haunting me and boy, did he have a few things to tell me!"

"You are a whore, your parents deserved to die..." he said before choking on his own blood leaving me to look down at his face before I tore his head off from his body.

Katherine's p.o.v I stood there in a state of shock. Never have I seen a man this brutal in my years of running never have I seen anything like this. So the rumors were true he was indeed a beast when it came to taking control. I looked at how his eyes changed taking the man's head and walking out leaving me to follow him like a lost puppy. We walked into the woods where he took out a stick pushing it through the man's head. He then placed it on the borderline. I looked at this like it was some sort of movie. His wolf was in control leaving me to back up a bit. Once he turned around his eyes fell on mine.

"You're not alone in this anymore Katherine!" he said trying to move, but I stopped him in his tracks seeing that the wolf is still in control making me scared a bit. "You need to be smart about this Nick, let me take over!"

"Not an option!"

"You are still welcome at the table where I am not, think about it for a minute!" I said only to yell from the pain that was caused by a tree. He pushed me up against a tree looking at me with intrigued eyes.

"I am not going to sit here while they are hurting my pack or yours! Now you can go ahead with your plan baby girl, but I am not going to stop do you understand me!" he said, before he leaned in and whispered into my ears: "I will do whatever I should to get you on my side, Mate! " His words sent shivers down my body only to feel his lips brush against mine. I stood there for a few seconds before I opened my eyes seeing him looking at me with a smirk. Within a few seconds, I disappeared into the woods with my speed until I reached home. I was out of breath, but for some reason deep down inside of me I knew he was right about one thing. That it is not just me anymore but both of us.
