Chapter 44: A Death and a Coma

It was like an electric current rushing inside her veins, filling her body with energy and strength. She could feel her connection with Max even stronger now, and she could also feel how agitated and worried he was.

And somehow, she could feel that inside of her heart. Not because she was seeing him, or hugging him. Through the bite, their mate bond made it all more real and stronger to feel.

Max pulled out his teeth from her neck, but gently kissed the spot right after. Mikki just wanted to cry. All that moment was being taken away from her. Something that was supposed to be one of the most important events of her life.

And Farkas had taken that away from her too.

“It’s your turn, Mik,” Max murmured, bringing her back to reality.

She nodded, focusing on showing her teeth. She wasn’t really good at half-shifting, so she had to concentrate more than Alpha wolves would. But she managed to do it quite fast this time, so she mimicked Max’s actions and bit his neck too.
