Betrayal

The sun has already risen, the birds are singing while the trees are dancing with the wind. Everything is so peaceful and relaxing.

Phoebe woke up this morning with a wide smile on her face. She heard that her mother-in-law is outside the country again, meaning no one (or at least one less person) will bother her for the time being.

Aside from that, she's also very happy with how things are going between her and her husband. Like she wished for, after the conflicts of the company has been resolved, Thomas also came back to her— going back to the same sweet, loving, and gentle husband that he is.

They are definitely back to being happily married.

As Phoebe continued to fix the flowers in the vase that she personally picked out from the garden, Anna suddenly asked her. "Madamme, your 3rd wedding anniversary is nearly approaching, do you plan on celebrating it here in the mansion?" the older woman asked her.

" Hmm. What do you think Anna? Actually, we've been celebrating our last two anniversaries outside the country, and this time I want it to be simple yet perfect and memorable. Do you think it'll work to just celebrate it here? " Phoebe looked at her head maid, waiting for her answer.

'Maybe Anna could give me more idea. I really want it to be perfect this time." Phoebe is actually hoping that after this, her relationship with Thomas could improve more.

Anna nodded after hearing what Phoebe said, "I guess that's a good idea, Madamme. The mansion is also huge, you can even hold a party for the celebration." she uttered.

Phoebe momentarily stopped what she was doing and took a glance at Anna, "I'm not planning to throw a party though. I think a romantic dinner for two might suffice."

The woman smiled at Phoebe, "I didn't take you for the romantic type Madamme." Anna teased her where Phoebe just returned with a chuckle.

"I can't wait for our anniversary to come."

"Thomas?" Phoebe called out. She wants to know if he's home, she wanted to ask the maids earlier but she forgot and now they must all be busy because she can't spot any of them.

She just came from a five days vacation in a beach resort that her friend owned. Supposedly, she will come back in another two day's time but she wasn't really planning on staying away for a long time.

Phoebe also held some souvenirs in her hands, while her baggage have already been brought inside by the maids.

It's actually still early so she really isn't expecting Thomas to be home, "Just as I thought." Phoebe grinned as she decided to go to Thomas' study.

"I really hope that he'll like it." she said more to herself as she held the thing in her hand more.

Striding up the stairs, she was already all smiles, but her excitement only grew wider when she heard her husband's voice.

She really missed him after being away for several days.

She was supposed to barge inside the room and envelope him in an embrace with a kiss in the lips, but she stopped on tracks hearing the conversation.

"I also miss you. My wife isn't home yet, I'll go to you later." Phoebe blinked.

Who is he talking to?

It's giving her bad thoughts, invading her mind and enveloping her in an unknown emotion.

"Of course, I can do that." Sweetness and tenderness can be felt with how her husband said those words to whoever was it he was talking to.

Phoebe's heart sank.

'It's not how I thought it is right?'

Her breaths felt heavy, she's on the verge of tears because of the painful thoughts that started to invade her mind. Her emotions are too unstable these past few weeks that even Phoebe herself can't predict it.

"Maybe I'm misunderstanding it." she murmurs almost out of voice. She stubbornly tried to convince herself while listening to the sweet nothings that his husband is uttering for whoever that was.

She tried to reason out in her mind, until Thomas next words shattered her lingering hope for him.

"Okay honey. I love you so much, take care of yourself." Tears started streaming down her cheeks, "Remember that you're pregnant." Phoebe's eyes grew cause of shock. She can almost hear the shattering of her heart and soul.
