The sun had barely come out if it's hiding when Elizabeth started putting pressure on Alexander that morning. The decision to visit Aunt Mary, motivated by a mixture of genuine concern and an underlying need for resolution, had become another idea fraught with uncertainty.

"Alexander, we need to see Aunt Mary. I have a feeling that Samantha's living with her, and we need to make amends," Elizabeth implored, her eyes reflecting a plea for understanding.

Alexander, however, hesitated. The pains of past mistakes and the fragile peace they had built in Samantha's absence weighed heavily on his mind. "Elizabeth, I'm not sure Samantha lives with her, but even if your instincts say so, then I think we should give her some space. We can't force our way into her life. It's clear she's not ready for this. Didn't you see her reaction the other day?"
