~Ivy's POV~

The music from the ball wafted through my windows, a soft jazz melody. A contrast to my tumultuous life.

I'd worn the dress, but no makeup and no smile. I walked out of my room. My legs were wobbly because I wasn't used to wearing heels.

I met Nyro already waiting by the door of our home, Calyxia in his arms. She looked stunning.

She wore a shiny red dress to match her lips, gold jewellery glittering around her neck, her skin pristine, porcelain… but no makeup could hide the evil beneath her eyes.

“You look absolutely gorgeous, Ivy.” She smirked, her eyes glistening mischievously.

Nyro barely looked at me. “Come on, let's go. We'll be late,” he snapped, irritated.

We arrived at the ball, and the hall was packed with Elite werewolves.

I had to walk in with Nyro, and I could tell that this displeased Calyxia. She had been sulking all through the ride. She clearly didn't want me here, but quite frankly, I didn't want me here either.

We took the ceremonial bow as Alpha and Luna and the party began.

I sat quietly through the council meeting. I nodded when I needed to, forced a smile when necessary, but I was numb.

I was still in disbelief. My pups were gone… just like that!

“Wear a damn smile on your fucking face you ugly duckling,” Nyro said through his teeth. “You look pathetic!”

“You made me pathetic,” I responded softly, so that only he could hear.

When he glared at me, his eyes told me, ‘Expect a beating later.’ I did not care.

It was time for the ceremonial dance. The Luna and Alpha were supposed to lead it, in the middle of the hall.

But, Calyxia brushed past me, hugging Nyro from the back.

“You abandoned me all night,” she whispered to his ear, but I could hear. “I'm carrying your baby, you know.”

“I know, my love.” He responded. “But people are watching.”

“Let them.” She kissed his neck.

I held my breath. People were indeed watching.

“No, Calyxia.” He finally said, walking up to me to take my hand.

“Ah!” Calyxia screamed, holding her waist.

Nyro left my hand and hurried over to her. “What's the problem? Should I drive you home?”

“No, the baby is lonely,” she said. “Dance with me.”

Nyro looked at me apologetically. “You know she's preg-”

“Just go!” I cut him short. “Dance with her.”

The whole pack, the invitees, everyone watched in shock as my mate, the Alpha of Blackfyre pack danced the ceremonial dance with his mistress.

I couldn't bear the stares, so I ran to the bathroom to cry.

I locked myself in one of the stalls and allowed the tears to fall freely.

I don't know how long I was there, but my eyes were sore. The door to the bathroom flung open and I heard giggles.

I stayed quietly as I listened to what they were saying.

They were omegas from the Blackfyre pack.

“So, so pathetic!” One chuckled loudly.

“Honestly!” another chimed in. “I wanted the ground to open and swallow us all on her behalf.”

“It's better to be dead than watch such humiliation."

They all giggled.

“Gosh! Imagine forcing yourself on a man only to go through this.” Someone said, “She should have just stayed back in her parents' pack to be honest.”

“But you guys, I actually feel for her.”

“I don't! Alpha Nyro clearly loves Calyxia more. Ivy should've done the walk of shame many years ago.”

I sucked in a jagged breath. They were talking about me.

“During the rogue attack, he saved Calyxia instead of his twins.”

“I heard he literally threw Ivy's pups to the rogues in place of Calyxia.”

They all cackled loudly.

Tears slipped from my eyes.

“But do you blame him, though?” Someone said as the laughter died down. “Look at Calyxia. Come on! She's older but she looks younger than Ivy. She's as pretty as a doll on a shelf.”

They all hummed in agreement. “And her dress, today? Stunning!”

“Exactly! On the other hand, Ivy looks like a starving, pathetic maid.”

I opened the door to the stall and stepped out.

Their eyes widened when they saw me.

“Ah! Lu-Luna Ivy, we didn't know you were there.” They looked frightened as ghosts.

I said nothing, but they scurried away, nearly bumping into Calyxia as she walked in.

“There you are?” Calyxia smiled as she approached me.

“What do you want?” I spat out.

“To see you.” She smirked. “You look like shit by the way.”

I said nothing. I tried to walk past her, but she blocked my way.

“Stop there you slimy dimwit!” She cursed, her red nails piercing my skin. “Or I'll kill you the way I killed your twins.”

“Watch it!” I yelled. She dared not go there.

“Or what?” She yelled back. “Huh? I made you an orphan, I made you childless and if you mess with me, I'll make you a widow.”

My ears rang and I staggered. My blood ran thin.

Calyxia… killed… my parents?

“What did you just say?”

“You heard me.” She said, her eyes glinting. “The twins. Those miscarriages you've been having? Yes. I had Nyro put pills in your food that aborted your babies.”

My heartbeat increased.

“No!”

“Yes!” She chuckled. “I ruined your life and I can end it if I so please.”

Fury mixed with hate spilled through my veins.. “Calyxia, you're a demon!”

“No, honey.” She lowered her voice, smirking. “I'm the devil.”

A few seconds before the door to the bathroom flew open, she hit her head on the wall, screamed and fell to the floor.

In a short time, I knew why…

Nyro ran to her and helped her up. “Wh.. what happened?”

“Ivy.” she cried. “I came here to apologise for dancing with you and she pushed me. Ah… my baby.”

He didn't confirm or ask me, he just pounced on me, beating me till I was almost unconscious.

I bled. My bones ached and pain shot through me, but he didn't stop.

Finally, he called some guards in. “Take her and lock her up in the dungeon. Since she wants to act like an animal, I'll treat her like one!”

Those were the last words I heard before I fell unconscious.

-

I woke up on a cold concrete floor.

I had an intense migraine and I felt bloated.

My phone was ringing in my dress pocket, so I managed to pick it up and answer the call.

“He… Hello?” Even my tongue felt heavy.

“Ivy.” A voice smooth like butter spoke through the phone.

“Who's this?” I asked.

“My name is Skarr.” He said. “I know you, Ivy. I can save you.”

“B… but I don't know you.”

“Trust me, you do.” His voice was velvety. “All you have to say is yes. Think about it. Three days and I'll take you away from there for good.”

To his greatest shock, there was nothing served. The table and cutlery sat bare and the house felt empty. You're not a child.”Child…“She's pregnant, Nyro?” I asked, my voice laced with bitterness. “Calyxia is pregnant with your child?”Calyxia smiled, sa
