Eva Gibson’s pov

Arriving in the parking lot of the steakhouse, I was overwhelmed with worry.

Parking the jeep, Austin asked me if I was ready to eat, and I gave him a sour look.

“My concern is causing me to get queasy, but I must eat for our pup,” I mumbled.

Nodding briskly, he suggested we head in, so I unbuckled and hopped out of his jeep.

As we headed toward the entrance, we heard a gruff voice shouting, “Nephew,” and I stopped cold in my tracks.

Glancing over my shoulder, I swallowed uncomfortably at the huge, barbaric-looking beast of a man who was hailing down my mate.

“Uncle,” Austin growled as he came to my side.

Dressed in a dark gray suit, Nick Belmont looked like the head of a mafia organization. His appearance was clean-cut, but the ragged scar down his cheek gave him a cold edge that exaggerated his dangerous nature. I shuddered when his soulless steel-gray eyes met mine.

“Who is this, Austin?”

“She is none of your business! Now leave my town,” Austi

  • The Second Choice Mate    Chapter 60

Eva Gibson’s pov Seeing my captor shudder and then shake out his limbs, I grew curious. Growling angrily, Jaxon came before me with his eyes narrowed at me. “Who do you know that can teleport?” he questioned with his voice like ice. Raising my brow at him, I shrugged as I thought about the assassin, then said, “Oh shit, you're screwed, bud.” Pinching his lips, he stood straight and smirked. “Enlighten me, Miss, how am I screwed,” he asked, using finger quotes. “The Moon Council's former assassin is my friend, and he can teleport,” I asserted and heard him curse colorfully. “Nero asked me for our location, Austin is searching for you,” Lana growled in my head as I narrowed my eyes at my captor. He was shaking his head and tossing my knife in his hand. “Hey, don't mess around with my knife,” I growled, gaining a scowl from him. “Keep your mouth shut, or I'll gag you! I'm trying to think,” He barked. Hissing, I mumbled, “I hope Mister Landers takes your head.” I

Austin Belmont’s pov After Eva left the room, I poured another glass of the strong wine and took a big gulp. “Slow yourself, buddy; I don't wish to carry you out of the steakhouse,” Jace growled. He didn't understand the turmoil I was going through. I was certain that I was going to be dead in a matter of days. My uncle was a crazed beast when he fought. Sighing, I rubbed my eyes to clear my blurring vision. “You were stupid to drink,” Nero, my wolf, commented, breaking through my chaotic thoughts. When our food was brought to the table, I narrowed my eyes at Jace. “Where is Eva?” I questioned with a growl. He glanced around the room and asked me where she said she was going. “Uh, to the bathroom to pee, but she should have been back by now,” I growled low. Standing up suddenly, I gripped his shoulder to steady my balance. "Call her cell phone," Jace suggested, and I informed him that she had left it at home. “Your uncle probably took her! You should have accom

  • The Second Choice Mate    Chapter 57

Eva Gibson’s pov Getting pampered by my mate was delightful as he caressed my body and washed me tenderly. My flesh vibrated underneath his skilled fingers as he touched me all over my damp skin. Austin took special care as he rubbed the area where our child lay nestled in my womb, and I almost teared up at the tenderness displayed. Seeing his eyes full of deep emotions and not lust, I understood what he had been trying to convey. He truly loved me, and it filled my soul with so much joy. “I love you, Austin,” I mewed as he moved his hands and massaged the tight muscles on my lower back. Rubbing his cheek against mine while he stood behind me made me close my eyes as I savored our strengthening connection. “We both need more of this closeness,” He growled near my ear. Turning me to face him, he grinned. “I'm going to ask Jace to become our Beta, and I'm hoping he will accept,” He said sternly. Running my fingers up his chest, an idea came to mind. “Can we invite

Eva Gibson’s pov Ignoring Austin, I followed Jace upstairs to his room off of Sirius's and removed my shoe. Jace, Gideon, and Austin spoke with Sirius to inform him that I passed guard training with the council representatives' test. Sitting down, I propped up my leg while Jace entered and informed me he had to prepare his tools. “Who is Mason to you?” Narrowing my eyes at Austin hovering in the doorway, I gave him a crooked scowl, as I thought. “Lean, black-haired, green-eyed guy from the commissary,” my wolf commented. “I worked with him at the pack store, and he was in my guards' class that I had only been to once on both occasions,” I answered. “Well, he wishes you well,” Austin growled firmly, and I rolled my eyes. “That's kind of him,” I muttered and watched Jace settle down on the stool near my ankle. “Leave Austin, I can't have onlookers while I work,” he asserted before freeing the remaining parts of my guard tattoo. I watched my mate shake his head and re

Eva Gibson’s pov “Eva, I don't mean to have you fight him alone. I meant that we would work as a team together,” He said softly as he rested his chin on my shoulder and wrapped his arms around my waist. “I would have helped you if you had just asked, Austin, but I don't believe that a person can be your weapon, and definitely not an inexperienced pregnant person,” I responded softly. Grinning at me, I eyed him oddly, and he neared my ear as he said, “My mother informed me that you are the one who will win this challenge, and I will fail without you.” Side-eyeing him, I saw he was telling me the truth, yet I frowned. “Gideon Landers knows I'm pregnant and will take our pup,” I said regretfully. We both glanced at Gideon and saw him standing and brushing his pants off. “Let's go see what he is planning,” Austin suggested. Nodding, I allowed my mate to walk me to the guy I had just nut-smashed earlier. “Gideon, now that you know we have created a pup, what will you do?”
