I opened my eyes to an empty bed, feeling the warmth of the morning sun on my skin. Cullen was gone, but that was of no concern to me. I wasn't attracted to Cullen's looks, just his wealth. I saw him as just a means to an end, a way to fulfill my desires without any emotional attachments.
As I got up to take a shower, my mind wandered to Drew. He was unlike anyone I had ever met before. There was something about him that intrigued me, although I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.
After my shower, I made my way downstairs for breakfast. Cullen was already there, enjoying his meal with a sense of satisfaction. "Bonjour beau," I said to him with a seductive smile.
"Bonjour belle," Cullen replied, his eyes fixated on me as if he couldn't get enough.
We talked about his business meetings over breakfast, but my mind kept wandering back to Drew. Cullen was just a temporary distraction, but Drew had the potential to be something more, I could feel it.
As he stood up to leave, he reminded me that he had left some money for me in his study, just in case I needed anything.
"Left you some cash in my study, Incase you need to get something. I might not be back till late so don't wait up for me" he said with a playful smile on his lips
"Mmm, the thought of sneaking into your study and finding that cash is tempting. I'll have to make sure I find a way to thank you properly when you get back." I said with a smirk
"I look forward to it. Just don't get too carried away without me. I'll be back before you know it, and we can pick up where we left off." He said in a cool seductive tone as he left for the door, his driver right behind him.
This was the life I was used to.. a life of luxury, not the latter and I was willing to get it back at all cost.
I climbed the stairs of Cullen's luxurious mansion, taking in the grandeur that surrounded me.
Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow throughout the house.
The plush carpets under my feet felt like clouds, and the walls were adorned with art that seemed to come to life in the soft light.
I reached my room and began rifling through my wardrobe. Today was the day I would explore New York City, and I wanted to look my best as usual of course.
"Excuse me ma'am Brielle" said Cullen's maid, I hadn't had time to get familiar with her so I wondered what she came to see me for.
"Uhh.. yes?" I responded with a confused expression.
"Sir Cullen assigned a driver to you, he said to tell you immediately he left ma'am." She said in a shaky voice, I must have startled her with my expression - I didn't mean to though.
"Oh, that was kind of him" I said with a warm smile "thanks for letting me know"
"You're welcome ma'am" she said with her head down as she took her leave.
I went back to searching for the perfect outfit to wear out.
I finally settled on a sleek black dress and a pair of strappy heels. I was just about to leave when I remembered the brown envelope that Cullen had left for me.
I made my way to his study, passing through the grand halls of the mansion. As I entered the room, I spotted the envelope on his desk. I picked it up.
But then my eyes fell on a picture frame on the desk. It was an old photograph of Cullen and his cousin, Drew. I picked it up to take a closer look.
They were horse riding, with the wind in their hair and laughter on their lips. I couldn't help but stare at Drew's perfect lips and his eyes that shone like jewels in the sunlight.
I knew I had to see him again.
Cullen and Drew seemed so close in the picture, as though nothing could ever come between them.
I couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. I longed for a connection like that, one that would never fade with time. I was never close to my parents and to make things worse, I was the only child.
As I set the frame down, I realized that my desire to see Drew again was overpowering.
I didn't know what I was going to say to him, but I knew that I had to try. I tucked the envelope into my bag and made my way out of the study, my mind racing with thoughts of Drew and what the future might hold.
As we drove through the busy streets of New York, my mind was a blur of memories and emotions. It had been years since I had set foot in this city, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia mixed with excitement.
I was here with a purpose, and it was all thanks to Cullen, my new billionaire husband.
Sure, our marriage was a contract, but it allowed me to experience a life of luxury that I never thought was possible. I couldn't complain, especially since I was never going to be broke again.
But as we approached the city, I couldn't help but think about Drew. Why was he in my head? Why couldn't I stop thinking about him??
Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed when the driver announced our arrival at our destination. I stepped out of the car and took a long look at the most expensive boutique in New York.
The sight of it was overwhelming, and I couldn't believe I was actually going to shop here.
Ignacio, my Spanish husband, had always been rich enough to afford me this kind of luxury, but I never had a reason to visit New York until Cullen came along.
He was my golden ticket to success, my way of getting all the money I could ever need, even if it was a risky gamble. Ignacio could never find out about my contract marriage with Cullen.
As I walked into the boutique, I was greeted by the sight of designer clothes that I could not only dream of owning but I could own every single one I desired.
And so, with a newfound confidence, I walked around the boutique, picking out outfits that caught my eye.
The fabrics were soft to the touch, and the colors were so vivid that they seemed to come to life. As I tried on each outfit, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement.
I was living a life that I never thought I could live again, especially now that Ignacio was going broke.
But little did I know that this newfound happiness was going to be short-lived, and my life was about to take a dramatic turn that would change everything.
I walked into Cullen's mansion with a few shopping bags in hand, feeling a little tired from the long day of shopping in the bustling New York City.As I made my way up to my room, Cullen's driver offered me a refreshing smoothie he had bought on our way back from the mall. I gladly took it, it was as if he could read my mind at the moment.I was still sipping my smoothie when my phone rang, and to my delight, it was my friend Evie on the other end. "Hey Evie, what's up?" I greeted her warmly."Oh Brielle, it's been such a stressful day at work," she exclaimed. "I could really use a break."I sympathized with her and told her about my day, how I had gone shopping at the biggest mall in the city. Evie was thrilled to hear about my adventure, and she couldn't help but express her envy. "Wow, you're so lucky to have met Cullen," she said. "I wish I could've gone with you."I chuckled and explained that it was a last-minute decision and that I didn't have time to invite anyone. "But don
It was the next day and I was in my room, staring out the window, waiting for my friend Evie to arrive. I had invited her over to the mansion, and I couldn't wait to catch up with her. But as I gazed out the window, I saw Drew, leaving the house. I couldn't deny to myself that I was attracted to him, and I could sense that he felt the same way about me. But we had never acted on our feelings, on my own part it was partly because of my contract marriage to Cullen and I guessed the same reason went for Drew too. Only that he never knew my marriage to Drew was a contract. As Drew walked past the window, Evie had just pulled up the driveway. Evie had a crush on Drew ever since she met him at my wedding party, and I could tell she was going to be shamelessly flirting with him again.I got up and went down to welcome her regardless, as soon as she walked in, she couldn't help but admire the mansion."Wow, this is truly breathtaking. The scale and grandeur of this place are just beyond wo
I slowly opened my eyes and found myself staring into the intense gaze of a sexy masculine figure, Cullen. I was startled, and my heart skipped a beat. "What are you doing here?" I asked with a confused expression, still trying to process the situation."Sorry I startled you, there's something I would like to discuss with you," he said in his deep, masculine voice.I was annoyed. "What's so important that couldn't wait till I was up? A lady needs her beauty sleep, you know?" I asked him with a frown. "I'm sorry for interrupting your sleep" he apologized again "But it was urgent and I know this wasn't in our contract, but I feel I can trust you," he said in a husky tone.Brielle was taken aback. This was starting to sound serious. "Okay, what's it already? You're giving me goosebumps, handsome,"I asked impatiently, I wasn't one to be put on suspense."I need you to work together on a project with my cousin Drew. I don't want to employ an external hand as it could ruin everything. It'
After hours of listening to Cullen's PA drone on and on about the project, I was exhausted. Drew, who had been sitting next to me the whole time, must have felt the same way because as soon as the PA left, he turned to me and said, "Do you want to go hang out and unwind?"I nodded, grateful for the invitation. We needed to take our minds off work and just relax for a little while. Drew was seemed like good company, and I felt comfortable around him, so I knew that hanging out with him would be the perfect way to destress. We made our way to a bar that Drew knew, and he ordered us both a drink. As we sipped on our cocktails, Drew asked me, "Where did you learn to speak French so fluently? I heard you speaking to Evie before leaving your party the first time we met."I smiled, remembering my wedding party with Cullen that had brought us together. "I love to explore and learn new things," I said. "French is just one of the many languages I've picked up over the years."Drew looked im
As the insistent knocking on the door continued, I found myself panicking. Drew had to hide in my closet as I faked a sleepy voice to mask the tumult of emotions raging within me."Who's there?" I managed to ask, feigning a yawn in hopes of sounding convincing."It's me, ma'am," came Carla's voice, the maid. "Sir Cullen asked me to call you to his study. He wants to discuss something with you."My heart raced as I considered the implications of being summoned by my husband, who was nothing more than a contractual obligation. I needed to buy some time to figure out how to deal with the situation."I'll be there in a few minutes," I replied coolly, still not opening the door for her. "Let me wash up first."Carla's footsteps faded away, and I breathed a sigh of relief. "Drew," I whispered urgently. "Come out, she's gone."He emerged from the closet, holding his shirt and trousers in his hands. "Damn, that was close," he said, rushing to dress up."I don't regret it, though," I said to
I hesitated for a moment before answering, unsure of what to say to Ignacio. I hadn't spoken to him in weeks, not since after the wedding party with Cullen."Hey.." I said, trying to sound casual."Brielle, mi amor, how are you?" he asked in his thick Spanish accent."I'm fine," I said, avoiding the question. "Seems like business ain't moving too busy today huh?" "Ofcourse it is, I just wanted to hear your voice," he said, his tone softening. "I miss you, Brielle. When are you coming back to Spain?""Oh.. mi amor, I miss you more than you can ever Imagine but as you know I've been working on my fashion line here, it's really hectic and time consuming" I said, my voice not sounding too convincing as my mind was racing. I couldn't tell my husband about the mess I'd gotten myself into. How could I explain that I was stuck in a contract marriage to a man I barely knew all because of money?"Brielle, is everything okay?" Ignacio asked, his voice tinged with concern.I hesitated for a mom
I had left for the office early in the afternoon, and I was surprised to see Cullen still at home when I returned. He greeted me with a smile and asked me how the project was going."How's the project coming up Brielle?" He asked, his eyes still fixated on his laptop."So far so good, nothing to worry about" I replied still trying to understand what was going on and why he wouldn't look at me. "About what we discussed yesterday," My heart skipped as I heard him bring up yesterday's discussion"Have you thought it it through?" He asked, finally pausing to look at me.I was about to respond when he cut me off, saying, "I understand if you don't want the paparazzi hounding us, especially when our marriage isn't even real." He went on, "I've decided to keep you off the paparazzi's radar. We'll only attend events that are private enough to let people think we're really married, feeding their thoughts." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. But at the same time, a part of me felt rel
I walked into the office, trying to keep my composure as I saw Drew already seated at the conference table. We had briefly greeted each other with our eyes, trying not to make it too obvious that we were both attracted to each other. But, the tension between us was palpable, and it was only a matter of time before it boiled over. The meeting was brief but practical. We were working on one of the biggest shoe stores in New York, and Cullen had brought me onboard not only because he trusted me but because he knew I was in the line of fashion and could contribute some ideas. It was a huge project and we had to meet with some investors who had shown some interest in the project and convince them to sign the contract as soon as possible. We had sent out the contract to them for over a week now, but we hadn't received any response. So Cullen's PA had suggested we go in person as that might put some pressure on them. Who knows? Before we got back, they might have signed and sent it back t
