Alicia's POV

Now that my passport application and divorce documents had been signed, I wasted no time packing up my luggage and that of my daughter, Elisa.

I didn't want to embark on a late journey to our new home, so I did my best to ensure I packed everything we would need without leaving behind any important items.

As I folded the clothes neatly and placed them into each suitcase, Elisa, holding a dragon toy in her hand, walked up to me. Her face was contorted with confusion and anxiety as she held onto my dress and pulled it gently.

“Mommy, is there a problem? Why are you packing?” she asked, her voice tender and soft as she sought a response from me.

Seeing that she was curious and wouldn’t stop asking about what I was doing until I responded, I didn’t hesitate to crouch down to her level. My hand gently grabbed her shoulders as I stared directly into her eyes with love and care.
