Chapter 2: The Rejection of His Mate

Andrew Chambers, Delta, always believed that he should and deserved to be a part of the Shadow family and have a higher rank than his lowly Delta position.  Deltas were the ones to help the Gamma with training and could move up in Delta ranks, but this was not enough for him.  Where did he get this idea from?  He got it from his grandfather, James Chambers, one of Elders of the Shadow Mountain pack.  James always believed that as an Elder his family deserved the best and to be the best you had to be at the top.    Since Andrew was his only grandchild, he would encourage him to get close to the Alpha, Beta and Gamma’s pups.

Andrew’s sixteenth birthday was six months before the Shadow triplets and Kyde was so excited to find out if Andrew truly was her mate.  “Punkin, even if he’s your mate, he won’t be able to tell you until you turn sixteen in six months.”  Karson told Kydence.  “But dad, it’s only six months, he can tell me.”  She whined.  “It doesn’t matter, the law is the law.  He will be punished if anyone finds out that he told you.  Do want that?”  He asked her. Kydence pouted and frowned.  “No.”  She huffed.  “Stop pouting and let’s go before we’re late.  He said tugging her out the door.

Kyde celebrated with Andrew and was so excited for him getting his wolf.  When he shifted his wolf was excited to meet his mate, but Andrew told his wolf not to reveal that Kyde was their mate.  Number one, it was illegal to reveal to her since she is underage and number two he didn’t want her to know yet.  This made his wolf angry, but Andrew told his wolf, Grady, that he wanted it to be a surprise for Kyde when she turned of age.  His wolf grumbled at him and reluctantly agreed.  “You better stay away from other females!”  His wolf growled at his human.  “We should wait for our mate; she should be our first and last female that we are with.”  He said.  “Whatever.” Andrew scoffed.  “Whatever I decided to do is my business, you just mind your own business.”  Andrew told his wolf and blocked him out.

After his first shift, Andrew doted on Kydence like she was his queen by day but once he got her home and spent a little extra time with her and the Beta family, he would go out and not even think about Kydence until the next day.  He blocked his wolf, who protested at his human’s doings and would try to break down the block that Andrew put up.  He knew that his human was mating with females who were not his mate.  Kyde was so happy she just knew that Andre was her true mate, why else would he dote on her like he has been.  He was possessive of her, and he took care of her.  She had no idea about what he would do when he left her at night, but true to the bond, she did feel what he was doing.  Of course, she didn’t know what it was that was causing her pain.

She started getting stomach pains and bruises started to appear on her stomach and around her sides.  Kora took her to the doctor, and they ran tests of all kinds but couldn’t figure out what was going on.  Karson explained to Kelvin what was happening.  Kelvin went to see his niece and looked at the marks on her body.  “This can be.”  He whispered to himself.  “Kelvin, do you know what’s happening to Kyde?”  Kora asked.  “I’m not sure, I’d have to do more research before I say anything.  I want to make sure I’m correct.”  He told her.  “I will find out what is wrong my little punkin.”  He leaned down kissing Kyde’s cheek as she finally fell asleep.  Karson walked out of the room with his brother.  “Kel, please give me something to tell Kora and Kyde.”  Karson asked his brother fighting back a sob.  “Just tell them that I’m looking into it, and I will let you know as soon as I know something.  I promise.”  Kelvin assured his little brother.  “I can’t lose my punkin, Kora would fall apart and the boys and Kolby, I-I-I have no idea what would happen to them.”  Karson whispered sobbed.  Kelvin hugged his little brother; he could feel his brother’s sadness and worry through their family bond.  “Don’t worry.”  Kelvin promised.  “I will find a way to help her.”  “Thank you, brother.”  Karson said as he allowed his brother to comfort him.  “Go and be with your little girl, she needs her daddy.  I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Karson went back into Kyde’s room to check on her.  When he walked in, she was curled up into a ball, crying.  “Daddy it hurts.”  She whimpered.  “Kycen get Andrew here, he’s her mate he maybe able to help make her feel better.”  Karson told his son.  Kycen nodded and his eyes glazed over, and his expression turned to a scowl.  “That fucker!”  He yelled.  “Kycen Shadow!”  Kora scolded.  “Sorry.”  He sighed.  “What did he say?”  “Sorry mom, but the bastard isn’t coming.”  He growled.  “What?  Why?”  Kasper snapped.  “He’s busy, he didn’t tell me what he was doing.  He’s not even on pack lands!”  He snarled.  “Mom, please, make it stop!”  Kyde cried out holding her stomach.  “Why does it burn?”  She asked between sobs.  “I’m so sorry baby.”  Kora cried with her daughter as she cradled her.  Kora rocked her little girl as she cried herself to sleep from the pain.

Dr. Waters agreed to give them some pain medication and muscle relaxers to help her when she suffered the attacks.  Alpha Kelvin didn’t trust Andrew, so he had a couple of his most trusted personal guards follow him and see what he was REALLY up to and see if what he does coincides with his extra circular activities.  He wanted proof before he spoke with his niece.

Kyde suffered from the pain for six months, Kelvin did tell Karson and Kora what his suspicions were, but they were …they didn’t want to believe it.  How could he be doing that?  He has been so devoted to Kyde for the last six months.  But then again, they’d heard all the rumors about him, they didn’t want to believe it.  Kyde was so happy, she said that she was starting to feel a pull to Andrew and that she was starting to feel light tingles every time Andrew touched her.
