The Silent Pact of Love with a Billionaire-Chapter 2

"Is it the gift that Master bought for Miss White? The necklace is truly beautiful!"

Scarlett White touched the intricacies of the diamond pendant, thinking he had probably forgotten what day it was today.

Her phone in the wallet rang.

She looked at the screen with the three words "Neil Davis," feeling a bit nervous and excited for the first time in years, "Hello?"

"Where are you now?" A familiar, indifferent voice came from the other end of the phone.

"I'm at Davis Mansion."

Scarlett White glanced at the folder she had brought and was about to ask when he would be back, but Neil Davis interrupted her.

"There's a blue box in my suitcase. Come to Suite 5028 at the Four Seasons Hotel now. Remember to bring the necklace inside."

Without waiting for her reply, the call was already disconnected.

Scarlett White stared at the necklace in her palm, the lingering words in her ears, "Remember to bring the necklace."

It was the only wedding anniversary gift she had received in these six years.

...

Scarlett White stood in front of the bathroom mirror.

She took off her scarf, lifted her long hair, fixed it with a hair tie, and then carefully put on the necklace.

The red dress enveloped her slender and graceful figure. Scarlett White let down her hair, gently stroked the pendant of the necklace with her hand, and in the mirror was the image of a young girl with a hint of budding romance. She smiled at herself, then put the scarf back on.

...

"Miss White, supper is just ready. Have something before you go back."

The maid came out of the kitchen and saw Scarlett White putting on her coat to leave. Thinking that Miss White had been living alone outside since being driven out of Davis Mansion five years ago, she couldn't help but want to keep her a bit longer.

"Neil asked me to go to the Four Seasons Hotel, so I won't eat."

"Really? Then go quickly! Don't keep Master waiting for too long."

Scarlett White blushed and smiled, went over to hug the maid, "Thank you."

As Scarlett White's figure disappeared into the night, the maid closed the door silently, sighed, and wondered what the young master was thinking. Miss White was such a good person, why did the young master like to sow wild oats outside? But luckily, the young master seemed to have wised up now.

...

Outside Suite 5028 of the Four Seasons Hotel

In Scarlett White's hand, besides the folder and wallet, there was also a delicate and small paper bag.

The bag was printed with the "Armani" logo.

Inside were shirts she had specially parked and chosen for Neil Davis when passing by a luxury store. It was his favorite blue and white fine checkered style.

Scarlett White felt an unprecedented nervousness, accompanied by a hint of expectation. She glanced at her makeup on the nearby glass wall, took a deep breath, and when she pressed the doorbell, she gripped the paper bag and folder tightly.

"Ding dong!"

The pleasant doorbell sound echoed with the pounding of her heartbeat.

"Who?" A low and lazy male voice came as the door opened.

Scarlett White raised her head, and Neil Davis was already standing in front of her. Under his wet black hair were a pair of cold, bright eyes. He was wearing a white bathrobe, exuding the fragrance after a shower.

"Neil, did the waiter bring the red wine?"

------

"Neil, did the waiter bring the red wine?"

A woman's sweet and coquettish voice echoed in the suite.

All the rehearsed opening lines, ready to be uttered, got stuck in Scarlett White's throat the moment she heard that voice.

"Huh? Isn't it the hotel waiter?"

Neil Davis's arm was entwined by a fair slender hand.

Scarlett White's gaze fell on the woman standing hand in hand with Neil Davis.

Wearing a hotel bathrobe, her chestnut-colored long curls still dripping with water droplets, a fragrance of the same shower gel as Neil Davis emanated from her. As for that face, how could Scarlett White not recognize her?

The rising star Alice, who became popular last year because of a movie, reportedly earned a Best Actress nomination at the Berlin Film Festival for a new film a few days ago. But how did she know Neil Davis?

Looking at the two standing together in what looked like couple bathrobes, Scarlett White squeezed the paper bag and folder with more force.

If he had a date with a beautiful woman tonight, why did he have to call her over?

"Who is this?" Alice curiously sized up Scarlett White.

Neil Davis didn't miss Scarlett White's change in expression. From her shy nervousness when he opened the door to her surprise when she noticed another woman in the room, especially the embarrassment that flashed across her face when Alice asked, he sarcastically curled up his lips.

He affectionately embraced Alice's waist and kissed her forehead, "This is my assistant."

"Really just an assistant?" Alice glanced at Scarlett White, lightly pouting and tapping his shoulder.

"What else do you think it could be?"

Neil Davis chuckled and turned to Scarlett White, "Did I ask you to bring the necklace?"

...

After years of tempering, Scarlett White only now realized that she had never developed an invincible heart.

Neil Davis's casual tone, the expectant eyes of Alice waiting there, stabbed into her heart like a thin blade.

The necklace concealed under the scarf, the cold pendant, felt like a crimson cigarette butt burning on her skin.

Scarlett White suddenly realized that her presence here was already a ridiculous joke.

She should have anticipated the outcome long ago. Why did she foolishly hold on to hope, thinking, thinking that he...

"Is it in this bag?"

Alice said as she tried to snatch the paper bag from Scarlett White's hand.

Scarlett White subconsciously took a step back, tightly clutching the paper bag, "The necklace is not in here."

"Then where is it?" Alice stared fixedly at the bag, obviously not believing Scarlett White's words.

Scarlett White's gaze shot straight to Neil Davis, suppressing the bitterness and self-mockery in her heart, and replied, "I forgot to bring it."

"Forgot?!"

Alice's expression changed suddenly. Crossing her arms, she sneered, "Then why didn't you just forget to come?"

That was the necklace Alice had set her eyes on while shopping in Berlin. It was because of that necklace that Neil Davis got acquainted with her, Neil Davis found her interesting, and Neil Davis, an extraordinary businessman, also attracted her. Meeting up tonight and going to the hotel room after dinner was a matter of course. Unexpectedly, it was ruined by an assistant!
