My body is exhausted. I attempt to fight him off but he is much bigger and stronger than me. All I can do is turn my head away as he rips my underwear off and pulls my dress up higher. I try my best to block out the pain from my leg. Mom has tried to describe what a girl’s first time is like but I am not prepared for how painful it actually is. Davina I wake up in a very bright room. It takes a second for my vision to focus. There is a man in the room and I begin to panic. I wrestle with all the tubes connected to me and I try to get out of bed. “Calm down Davina.” I look to my left and see Keila. “Keila?” I say in confusion. “Where am I?” “You’re in the hospital,” Keila replies. “What happened? How long have I been here,” I ask. I can remember bits and pieces but for some reason I can’t recall everything. “You’ve been unconscious for eight weeks Davina. Do you remember anything,” asks Keila. “Eight weeks!” I am being to hyperventilate. “It’s okay Davina. Slow, deep breaths. We can talk about what you remember later,” she says trying to calm me down. “I remember my home being attacked. I was kidnapped, I think.” “You may have some amnesia and might not remember every detail. Don’t try to think about it too hard. You have time. This can be short term or longer term. Meaning you may not ever recall what happened,”

“Now if you’re okay with it, I’d like to look at your leg and we need to change the bandages.” I look at him fearfully, not wanting him to touch me. Keila lays a hand on me and smiles as if she knows what I am thinking. She comes around and removes the blankets from my leg while carefully unwrapping the bandage trying not to hurt me. I winced in pain when she has to lift my leg up. “I’m sorry Davina,” Keila says. “It’s okay Keila. It needs to be done.” She begins examining at my leg. “It’s healing quit nicely. Fitting a prosthetic will be easy. Now I need to wash it and it may hurt a bit.” I nod at Keila and look away. I can’t bring myself to look at my leg. “Uncle Gabriel? I am going to assume there has already been a funeral for my parents.” “Yes Davina, I’m sorry. Davina I’ve been in this hospital for almost four months now. I am tired of seeing the same four ugly walls everyday. Uncle visits me at least twice a day. Some of the staff from the restaurant have visited too. They try to cheer me up, play board games with me and let me know how the restaurant is doing. Uncle hired an attorney to help ensure everything is legally in place. I asked the attorney to make my uncle a co-owner. He has been running it for me so I think he should be part owner. He tried to talk me out of it but I insisted. I appreciate what everyone is trying to do but I’d rather just be left alone. I sometimes wish they didn’t save me and just let me die with my family. I can hear uncle Gabriel and Dr. Ase talking outside. “Gabriel she is severely depressed. I highly suggests putting her on antidepressants. I don’t think this will get better on it’s own. “Hello Davina, my name is Tanisha I will be assisting Keila with your physical therapy. We won’t be doing too much today. We’re going to get you fitted for a prosthetic and I will show you mirror therapy that way you can do it on your own. Try not to get too discouraged. This will take time.” Tanisha has dirty blonde hair cut into an A line and she has piercing blue eyes. She must work out a lot, I can see her muscles through her lab coat. She’s very pretty. “Thank you Tanisha. Will I still be able to wear the prosthetic while pregnant?” “You can, however, I would highly suggest using a wheelchair or at least crutches towards the end of your pregnancy as there could be some swelling that typically occurs. Derek “Derek are you paying attention,” asks elder Conrad. I snap out of my day dream and look at him. “I’m sorry Conrad. I’m really tired,” I reply. I haven’t been sleeping lately and it’s been nonstop on the go with alpha training and learning the family business. And to top it all off, I have a gathering tonight to see if my luna is among my pack. If not I’ll have to start traveling to the other shifters and to the coven to see if my mate is among them. “What!” The door opens and I find Mark standing at the foot of my bed. I groan and sit up. “Dude you’re late for the meeting with the elders.” I look at the clock and see that it is almost ten. Davina 6 years later…… I did it, I finally did it. It took longer than I had originally anticipated and had to do everything online, but with raising kids and running a restaurant I learned to accept it would take longer.
