The Silver Dragon
The Silver Dragon
Author: Kyra Murrell

Prologue

The war has begun sooner than I had anticipated. Warriors from every clan have gathered to help stop the rogues but it may not be enough. These rogues fear what they do not understand and they want to wipe out me and family. We are the last of the Silver Dragons.

“Thierry how are we doing out there,” I ask, one of my best friends. Thierry is an Alpha from the wolf pack in the other realm called earth.

“Lux, we are losing too many men. I am not sure how much longer we can hold them off. If you are going to send her away you need to do it now!” My mate and I have struggled with this decision. We knew if it came down to it we would need to send our only daughter away for her safety and seal away her powers so she will not be discovered by the enemy. It would appear we are at that point. I call to my mate telepathically.

“Celestia, it is time.” I can feel her emotions, feel her heartbreaking just as mine is. We cannot lose another child. Celestia comes into the war room with our daughter, Davina. She is trying to hold back her tears.

“Lux, I don’t think I can do it. She needs her parents.” Celestia’s eyes are all puffy and red from crying. She hasn’t slept in days and nothing I say will make this better.

“There is no guarantee we will walk away from this alive and if we are to ensure our lineage and her safety, we need to send her away,” I say firmly, trying hold back my own tears. I grab Davina from Celestia and stare into her beautiful hazel eyes. I try to memorize what she looks like as this may be the last time I see my daughter.

One of the warlocks enters the war room. “Sir, Daniel and Isla Ortiz are here.”

“Send them in.” Daniel and Isla are one of my most trusted friends. Daniel is a very powerful warlock and I know he will protect my daughter with his very life if it came down to it.

Daniel and Isla enter the room. Daniel stands tall at 6 feet and 3 inches where as his wife, Isla, appears so small next to him at 5 feet at 2 inches tall. Both have chocolate brown hair and green eyes with an olive complexion. Daniel appears to be injured and his brother is helping him walk into the room.

“Daniel, it is time. Are you alright.” I see he has lost a lot of blood, so much that would kill a typical human.

“I’ll be fine Lux. My leg is beyond repair with magic but I have been able to heal it just fine. I can get a prosthetic in the human plane,” Daniel replies. Always putting on a brave face for the sake of others.

“I truly appreciate you my friend. Please watch over Davina as if she were your own. Are all the documents prepared for when you enter the human realm?”

“Yes, Lux. Her birth certificate has been prepared with us as her parents listed with a completely different birth date. We will treat her as if she truly is our own daughter. Thierry’s pack doctor has ensured there will be no questions asked regarding her birth or that we are her parents,” Isla replies. Isla can not have children of her own and it devastated her when she found out she couldn’t.

“You can count on us,” states Daniel, “I will seal away her powers.” Daniel chants something in Latin to seal away Davina’s powers and the seal appears on the back of her right shoulder as though it were a birth mark. The shape of the birth mark is a double infinity symbol. Though her powers are sealed her hair remained our silver color. Celestia has a worried expression on her face as she touches her hair.

“Do not worry Celestia. Humans tend to dye their hair color frequently. We can use that as a means for her to blend in. We can also use magic to make humans see her hair has brown” states Daniel.

Thierry then walks into the war room. “Lux there is no more time to wait.”

“I understand.” Celestia and I give our last goodbyes and kiss our daughter. I hand Davina to Isla and in an instant they disappear as though they have evaporated into dust. I know in that moment they have transported themselves into the human realm where they will raise my daughter. As they disappeared the door crashes open. We prepare to fight for our lives.

I know I will never see my daughter again.
