January 3rd 1977
Nate hears the cries all through the house and he smiles to himself. All of Betsy's screams have finally come to an end, as the baby's angry bellows sound out. She finally had the baby.
Betsy had been her almost a year, but a few months ago she started getting bigger in her belly and she was tired a lot. She discovered that she was going to have a baby and Daddy was thrilled.
When yesterday, she starting bleeding and crying that she hurt, Dad freaked out, because the baby wasn't do for nearly three more months or so. But Dad won't take her to the hospital and but he did call a doctor from a nearby town to come over and check her out.

May 29th 1977 Nate would not say that he considered himself to be a cruel person by any means. He was pretty much your average twelve year old. He liked looking through comic books and eating sugary cereal. Typical kid stuff. Except that he was incredibly intelligent with an impressively high IQ. In his small, off the map, hick town full of imbreds and idiots, as he refered to them, he was the smartest one around. Combine his above average intelligence with his unsual choice of hobbies, and he might be considered a sociopath. Nate knows this, because he has a book on mental disorders and behaviors that he has read cover to cover many times. If ever asked, he would be comfortable classifying himelf as a sociopath.

Dave had kidnapped her from a grocery store in northen North Dakota when she went out to buy milk and bread for her children. She was in her late twenties or so, but younger than thirty. Casting one last look around the room to see if he had forgotten anything, he is satisified to see that he had everything that they had brought in. Andy gathers the children to his sides and each child, frightened beyond belief at his sudden display of fear, hold tightly on to his shirt, grabbing it by the fistfuls. Andy carries all of their luggage that they had taken into the motel with them out into the cold night. Lacey sits against the cold, hard wall, fearing for her life. She knows that now that they have her, she will not be able to get away. Hell, no one will come looking for her. Her husband probably doesn't even know that she is missing. He pays so little attention. Although Lacey knows that isn't exactly fair, she also knows that she is in this situation because of him. She is trying not to blame him.. because he had no idea that this would come of his generosity. Had he known, she know that he never even would have left the house this morning. Andy slowly opens his, immediately aware of the throbbing pain in his head. Lifting a hand to the area that is the most painful, he feels dried blood around a small gash. When he looks at his fingers, there is a bit of fresh blood, as well. He will probably need a stitch or two to cloe the wound. But that is the very least of his worries. He looks around the room, seeing that he is still in the foyer, but he is unsure abut how much time might have passed. His first thought is of the kids and if they are okay. Lacey stares at Dave in shock as his words slowly register in her laggy, sleep deprived brain. Andy is hurt? “Please, don't hurt him. Please.” “Well, I guess how nice or how rough we play with him depends on you, Lacey. See, if you act up and get me angry, then I might be forced to take my bad mood out on him. But if you are nice and sweet, then I will be nice and sweet in return. I might just let that big bear of a husband of yours leave her without me putting a bullet between his eyes. Lacey was not sure that she believed him or his offer of help, but what other choice did she have? "Is he alive?" Her voice rings out loud in the quiet stillness of the night. She hears the fear in her own voice, over the scared crying of her children. “Yeah! Yeah, he is alive!” Andy tells her, relief evident in his tone. “But we have got to get him out of here right now if we want him to stay that way." Andy shakes his head, stupified. "I can not believe that they actually shot him! He is his son! Nates brother! And they tried to kill him!" Lacey is jut as angry and confused by that notion. She does not know which one pulled the trigger and actually fired at him, but it does not matter. He is their family and they tried to murder him. That is sickening.
