Lacey moves away from Dave's lifeless body, as the crimson blood preads around him, staining the white snow. The red stain should haunt her, since she had just taken another man's life but she feels no guilt or remorse.

Lacey dropped to her knees in the snow, knowing that she could not go on. She did not have the strength to carry on for even another inch. The wet snow came up to her hips, freezing her even more than she already was. She felt the muscles in her legs stiffening to a painful degree as the cold took it's toll on her battered body. Lacey tells him about how it all started when they picked up Nate. She mentioned that before they had picked him up that someone had tried to run them off of the road. She shared with them her thoughts and concerns of how she thought that it was Nate who had been driving the car that had tried to run them off of the road. She told them all about his creepy behavior in the car and the altercation at the diner. How she had witnessed Nate arguing with Cami the waitress and how Cami had seemed to be nervous or unsettled around him. When Lacey got to the hospital, she ran inside with the Sheriff on her heels. She did not even have to say a word to anyone. The nurse saw her jump out of the car and saw the blood on her clothes. The woman must have known who she was. It was a small town with small town gossip. By now they probably knew more about her than her second cousin does. “Right this way, Mrs. Williamson.” The nurse, who appears to be in her late fifties or early sixties, has white blonde curly hair that hits at her shoulders. Almost four hours later and they are finally turning on to the old familiar street that leads to Lacey's child hood home. They are driving past the Murdock family's house, where Lacey used to play hopscotch with their daughter Kristy when she was six. December 23, 1997 The hunter green 1995 model Ford Taurus was finally loaded down with all of the family's luggage, including the decorative bags and boxes of Christmas presents for the children from Santa, as well as for all of the numerous family members that would be gathered together to celebrate the joyous season. From where she was standing Lacey Williamson could hear her husband Andy's small sigh of annoyance as he closed the trunk of the car with a slight snap. He had not had an easy time of cramming all of the parcels and suitcases into the small space. He couldn't imagine that all these much stuff was needed to make the holidays special.

“I have really, really, really got to go pee! Like really, really bad! I don't think I can hold it any more!” Sunny announces loudly to everyone in the car. Jack had to stop and pee about fifteen minutes ago on the side of the road because he was 'about to explode'. Pulling into a deserted road lined with towering trees for privacy, Andy had let the boy out to do his business. Sunny had been adament that she was fine, she did not have to pee. Besides, she informed them, she was a big girl and she could hold it in if she needed to.
