Chapter 1

Penulis: Persimmon
The conversation in the living room was still going.

They thought I was still asleep.

I lowered my gaze, letting the dim bedside lamp cast its glow over the red marks scattered across my wrists and legs—all of them intimate, all of them theirs.

"She's not going to give all three of us to her sister."

"Yeah. At least one of us is staying."

"Tch. Carol's dull and boring. If you want to stay, go ahead. I'm not."

"...Neither am I."

"Whatever. Let fate decide. Is she awake yet?"

"No way. She was crying so hard she nearly passed out. She's not waking up anytime soon."

"So weak."

"Let's just keep going for a few more days once she comes to. She'll give up eventually."

My vision went black. Pale and shaking, I fumbled for my phone and called Melissa.

She picked up right away. "What's up, sis?"

My voice was hollow with desperation. "You said you were unsatisfied before, right? I'll give you all three of mine. Just give me your snake beastman instead."

There was a pause on her end—not a refusal, just hesitation. "Are you sure? Are they okay with it?"

I went quiet for a moment. "They really like you."

She understood. And honestly? It was true.

Everyone liked Melissa more.

She thought for a second. "Fine. Your place is small anyway—it was never easy keeping all three of them there. But... my snake beastman is really cold, you know. Completely distant."

"Good. That's perfect. I don't even want to do that with him. I'm so drained lately I can barely function. As long as he helps around the house, I'm fine. I'm just scared he'll be like these three wolves..."

She laughed. "Don't worry about that. I haven't even fully tamed him yet. He won't be interested in you."

Before I could respond, she sealed the deal. "I'll come pick them up in three days."

---

I hung up and let my mind drift back to the day I first met the three wolves.

It had been a damp, rainy afternoon when I found them. Three little wolf cubs, collapsed on the concrete, their fur matted together with blood.

I almost walked away.

Then one of them wagged its tail—just a little—and slowly hooked it around my ankle.

I couldn't leave them after that. I dragged them home with everything I had.

Under my care, they recovered quickly. Before long, they'd all shifted into their beastman forms.

I should have sent them away. But the beastman shelter told me they'd already imprinted on me—they saw me as their owner. If I abandoned them now, it would cause them serious psychological damage.

Looking into those three pairs of beautiful eyes, my heart softened. I kept them.

They said they had no names, so I named them: Kevin. Brian. George.

Young, hot-blooded wolf beastmen with more energy than they knew what to do with.

Even in human form, they couldn't stop their ears and tails from twitching. They clung to me every day, needy and relentless.

Then one day, Melissa called while I was trying to push George off my chest.

"I picked up three injured wolf cubs a while back," I complained. "They shifted recently, and now they won't leave me alone. I can barely handle them."

There was a beat of silence on the other end. "Lucky you. My snake beastman won't even let me touch him."

I paused, then tried to comfort her. "He'll warm up to you eventually."

Melissa didn't argue. Just gave a soft hum.

The next day, she showed up at my door with bags full of gifts.

She was wearing a pretty little white dress, beaming as she called out, "Surprise, sis!"

I turned around instinctively.

All three beastmen's eyes were fixed on her.

I quietly turned back.

Honestly? I was used to it.

Everyone liked Melissa more.

She was bright, charming, effortlessly drawing every eye in the room. Compared to her, I was dull and plain.

I saw Kevin's usually indifferent gaze land on her.

Brian's signature dazzling smile—now directed at Melissa.

Even George, who was always in a bad mood, tilted his head to watch her, his wolf ears flicking frequently.

Melissa acted like she didn't notice a thing. She sipped her water, all innocence.

That was the moment I knew.

My things were about to go to Melissa again.

From that day on, the warmth and affection vanished from our bed. They grew rougher, crueler, like they wanted to break me.

Until I overheard that conversation in the living room.

I'd been right all along.

They'd fallen for Melissa—just from that one glance.

Melissa's POVI've always hated my sister.Since we were kids. Why? Probably because I noticed, starting from elementary school, that she was always surrounded by people—boys and girls alike. She'd stand in the middle of them, laughing softly. Then she'd notice me and wave me over. "Melissa, come here."The others would turn and look at me, their eyes widening with surprise.I'd walk over, and she'd pull a piece of candy from her pocket. "Strawberry, your favorite. I saved it for you."I'd take it, happy. Then one of the girls next to her would chime in, "Carol's so thoughtful—she remembers everyone's favorites!"My smile would freeze. Why?She was my sister. Why did she have to be good to everyone?Shouldn't she be the best to me?I'd turn and walk away. Behind me, I'd catch fragments of their chatter: "That's your sister? She's so pretty!" "Like a doll..." "Yeah, those big eyes, that pale skin..."I never heard my sister's reply.Around the corner, I'd toss that strawberry candy stra

Andrew sat beside me.He lowered his eyes, his thick lashes casting shadows beneath them."So, you actually want to marry me—instead of that groom?" I asked."Yeah." His voice was quiet."Pretty quick thinking on your part," I remarked. The moment he realized I wasn't there, he'd slipped away. That fleeting shadow—besides me, no one else probably recognized it."Your scent is faint," he said, his tone carrying a hint of meaning.Ah. The terrifying thing about beastmen was their impossibly sharp sense of smell.I let it go without prying. "I'm going to stay abroad for a while. I'll come back when the time is right."Andrew pressed closer, his cool breath wrapping around me. His lips brushed the side of my neck—this time, he didn't bite."Okay," he said.Huh.They said wolves were the loyal ones—the ones who imprinted on their owners.Funny how this cold-blooded snake seemed even more devoted.---Over the next while, the Martin household was in complete disarray.I'd switched to an inte

At the airport, I got a call from my so-called fiancé.His voice was cold and hard. "Come back. Marry me."I couldn't help it—I laughed out loud."Wasn't this what you wanted? Didn't you say Melissa was the one you wanted? Didn't you say this wedding didn't need me?""I was wrong. Just come back." His voice was impatient on the other end.I said slowly, "You don't deserve me."With that, I blocked him too. Oops, missed one. Honestly, I never expected him to be that delusional and full of himself. Before the wedding even started, he pulled me aside for a private talk. Said the person he really loved was Melissa, and that she felt the same way, so he hoped I'd step aside and let them be together.Of course, I said yes with a smile. But honestly? If he hadn't cooked up that whole plan, I wouldn't have gotten away this easily.I smiled. "You made it."I looked up.And met Kevin's eyes.My smile faded.Kevin curled his lip. "What's with that face? Disappointed? Who did you think was coming?

Finally, the day of the grand wedding arrived. The most prestigious hotel in the city. Over thirty thousand white roses cascaded from the dome, crystal chandeliers piercing through the waterfall of petals like something out of a dream. Ivory damask draped every long table, rows of champagne flutes standing at attention, catching the light in pale golden hues.Every corner was breathtaking.Big spenders, huh.I took one look around and was ushered back into the dressing room.Over the next three hours, the guests kept pouring in. Even from backstage, I could hear the faint hum of congratulations and well-wishes. My parents came to check on me several times, making sure I was actually going through with it.I studied my reflection in the mirror—perfect makeup, flawless hair. Then I glanced at the clock. The ceremony was about to begin.I'd already taken care of the makeup artist and assistant beforehand. While the crowd was still thin, I gathered my heavy gown and slipped out.My assista

When I got back downstairs, the atmosphere was still quiet.I led Andrew to my old room—I had something to tell him.Melissa was eating from a fruit platter. She glanced at Andrew without making it obvious. "Father's still home. That's probably not a good idea."I frowned. "You have three beastmen around you. I'm just taking one to my room. What's the problem?"Melissa's expression flickered.Kevin's brow furrowed. "We're not—"Melissa cut him off, setting her plate down with a crisp click. "You make a fair point, sis. But only if Andrew's willing."All eyes turned to the man standing there, his face utterly unreadable.Andrew's thin lips parted. "Let's go."I nodded and motioned for him to follow. As for everyone else's reactions—I couldn't be bothered.---"I brought you up here because I need to tell you something. I'm getting married. Arranged."Andrew suddenly pressed me down onto the bed, his snake tail coiling around me. He seemed angry.I sighed. "So I might have to give you ba

The butler from the Martin family estate stood at my door, back straight and tone formal. "Miss, Mr. Martin says you've had your fun. It's time to come home for your arranged marriage."His tone left no room for argument.I refused. "No."The butler smiled—thin and practiced. "Miss, this is Mr. Martin's wish."As he spoke, several bodyguards stepped into view behind him.I let out a cold laugh. "Aren't you afraid I'll stab the groom on my wedding day and then off myself?"The butler's smile faltered. He recovered quickly. "Mr. Martin also said—if you agree to the marriage, you'll receive five percent of Martin Group's shares."My hand, already reaching for the door, paused. The butler seemed to have expected my reaction. "The car is already waiting downstairs. Oh, and Miss. Melissa said to bring Mr. Howard along."I glanced back at Andrew. Our eyes met.His dark gaze was unreadable as always. But for some reason, a chill ran down my spine.---Back at the Martin estate, the sprawling
