I knew that Jade was trying to be diplomatic about it but the understanding that reached me was that I was useless without my powers. Initially, I was offended but I also realized that everything he was doing was just for my good yet, I couldn't understand why everyone else had to risk their lives to protect me.

How could I be locked in here securely while they gave up their lives for me? It seemed to me that things would never change. It was the same with the mages. Before, I was locked up during the wars. However, I couldn't keep away the sizzling fear marooning inside of me. What if Jade died like the late mage king? I would never be able to forgive myself.

When I heard the growls in Jade's room, I went to the window. I couldn't see much from the small space, which was the only one Jade had forgotten to lock. Everything was happening in the forest, away from the packhouse. I was saddened. Once again, I found myself locked away, it was pathetic. Grief
