“You think after I paid a million dollars for you, I’d just let you go?” Alastair asked for a payback. “Please, stay as my mate. I love you,” Gabriel lied to me. “You're the one I've been searching for all this time. Be my Luna.” Romero couldn’t solve my problem. “I’m sorry. As I said, I had to do something elsewhere.” Harlow left me. It was like the Moon Goddess wouldn't care. She shoved me to those screwed-up mates, enough to torture me. *** Alexa Dawson was an orphan. Her stepmother sold her to pay a million-dollar debt in an auction. Even Alpha Gabriel, her fated mate, didn't care about her. Alpha Alastair, who turned out to be her second chance mate, bought her from the auction, only to imprison her in a dungeon. After a week, a mysterious man named Harlow saved her from the cell and took her out of town to become a rogue. A prophecy from the Moon Goddess revealed her destiny of becoming the Supreme Luna. She would unite all werewolf packs under one leadership with the Alpha she chose. Who would she choose? Could she fulfill her destiny as the Supreme Luna?

“No, please, don’t! Let me go!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Two men restrained my hands. They dragged me out of my house, even though I screamed and kicked with all my might. My wolf couldn’t fight back and could only whimper.
“It’s okay, Alexa. It will be just fine,” my stepmother said, her gaze downcast. Beside her, my stepsister put on a display of fake tears.
“Mom! Please help me! Don’t sell me out!” I cried for her help, but she stood still.
“I’m sorry, Alexa, but we have nothing else to settle your father’s debt,” she said, tears streaming down her face.
Wasn’t that a lie? How could they hide so many things in our house? Where had our TV gone? The car? Did we go bankrupt overnight?
“No! There must be some mistake!” I defended myself.
“Shut up, wench!” A brute slapped me so hard that my teeth scraped my lip. Blood dripped from the corner of my mouth. “Your father owed us a million dollars. Now he’s dead, so you must pay with your body!”
“What? A million dollars?!” A pang of shock hit my chest. My eyes widened in panic as I looked around at the brute and my stepmother.
“It’s impossible! My father was a respectable man. He was the Alpha! He would never do that!” I shrieked as the brute dragged me away from the house.
They didn’t care about my reasoning. The man brought me to the door, holding my shoulders and arms so tightly that it hurt. Before the door closed, I saw my stepmother and stepsister stifling small laughs.
It was them! They were the ones who borrowed a million dollars from these men! I knew it!
It was all to support their lavish lifestyle. They traveled to another country for a week-long holiday just last week on a private jet. Was all their boasting funded by debt?
I was supposed to reclaim my inheritance rights of my parents’ house and wealth tomorrow. For six months, the elders entrusted my parents money to my stepmother until I was mature enough for it. I promised to meet my father’s lawyer for a fit and proper test in the morning. But this event clearly prevented me from doing so.
“No! It wasn’t my father! It’s them!” I cried out loud, struggling in vain.
“Shut up!” Another man pressed a handkerchief to my mouth.
A sharp smell of wolfsbane poison assaulted my senses. My head spun, and consciousness faded. All around me blurred, making my body surrender into their hands.
Just before I lost consciousness, I vaguely saw a man staring at me from a distance. His face was illuminated by the moonlight amidst the growing darkness, imprisoning my sight.
Alpha Gabriel, the man who was supposed to be my mate, the one who was supposed to hold a marking ceremony with me next week, stood in silence. He stared at me with his cold eyes. His blonde hair shimmered under the moonlight, making him look like an angel, but his gaze held no mercy.
***
I woke up to a ringing sound in my ears. A rough hand slapped me, shouting at me to wake up. I opened my eyes slowly but still couldn’t see anything. I blinked, searching for light, but there was none.
My mouth was gagged with a thick cloth, forcing it open. I swallowed repeatedly to ease the dryness in my throat. Both my hands were tied behind my back. The silver chains scraped my wrists whenever I tried to free them.
‘Help! Someone, help me!’
I called out through the mind link with my wolf. Deep down, I knew it was useless since I couldn’t even control my wolf or transform.
I tilted my head, trying to see beyond the thick black cloth covering my head. Two large hands grabbed my arms, dragging me to walk before forcing me to sit on a hard chair. Their grip on my shoulders was heavy as I tried to stand and run.
The cloth loosened as fingers tugged at the ropes around my neck. Then, in one swift motion, the cloth was pulled off my head. Bright light blinded my eyes, making me lower my head and blink several times to adjust. Slowly, I opened my eyes and took a deep breath.
When I looked up again, I saw dozens of pairs of eyes adorned with colorful masks staring at me, scrutinizing every move I made. My heart pounded as I begged for freedom through muffled cries.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let’s proceed with the next auction. A rare eighteen-year-old lycan girl, pure Alpha blood from the south, and a virgin. She possesses magical healing abilities, perfect for your punching bag.” The man gestured toward me.
“We’ll start at one million dollars,” the man standing before me introduced me like merchandise.
Everyone fell silent. There was whispering, but no one raised a paddle to bid for me.
“Anyone? Come on, anyone?” The auctioneer looked around the dimly lit room. “Alright, let’s lower it to 900,000 dollars. Anyone?”
For some reason, I had a bad feeling, worsened by the chaotic mix of pungent smells. But among the unpleasant odors, there was one distinct scent I had never smelled before. Musk, and it was so good, calming my nerves.
“500,000 dollars!” A fat man shouted.
No one responded with a higher bid. The auctioneer started pacing, looking at the others’ faces, searching for another bidder. I shook my head as tears streamed down my cheeks. My nose was clogging up, and I was gagging, adding to my discomfort.
“Anyone else?” The auctioneer still searched for a higher bidder. He looked around the audience and sighed in disappointment. “Come on, is no one interested?”
Oh my Goddess! Was this real? The fat man chuckled and smiled in a senile curve, so sure he would get me as his punching bag.
My heart raced, and panic took over. I glanced right and left, seeing the guards stationed everywhere. The only open path was in front of me, where the masked men and women gathered. Perhaps there was a door there with less security.
When I felt the pressure on my shoulders lessen, I seized the moment and ran. I lunged at the old auctioneer, making him squeak in surprise. Before I could run further, searing heat clasped my wrist. I screamed in pain. My body collapsed to the floor as the heat and electricity coursed painfully from the silver chain through my body.
The guards jumped on my shoulders and arms. I struggled again, but they pinned me harder to the floor. One of them whipped my calf, and I groaned amidst my tears.
“One million dollars.” A deep male voice boomed in the room.
Everyone stopped moving, including me, freezing at the sound of the voice. A large man in a suit walked through the crowd. He raised paddle number two to his ear. His chin-length black hair framed the black mask covering his face.
“Stop that and let her go. She’s mine now,” he growled, then turned to the auctioneer.
“O—oh, yes! One million dollars! Sold!” The auctioneer chuckled in satisfaction, nodding at the guards.
The two guards beside me lifted my body to stand. They then dragged me out to the curtain. I couldn’t believe someone had actually bought me!
My gaze locked on the dark eyes behind that mask in a split second. In my heart, I cursed the man who auctioned me, my stepmother, the Alpha who abandoned me, and the man who bought me.
Alexa“At least your wolf's spirit could still continue to the next generation. Not now. Mythril would never return to you, but the remains were enough to preserve the seed of Lycan power for your children.”Marlon gave his opinion as he walked beside me. His hands were clasped behind his back as if hesitant to come any closer than a polite distance. We crossed the western border to reach the mouth of the cave on the labyrinth cliff.“How can you be so sure?” I asked.“We dragons had a lot of experience with the power of energy passed down in families.” Marlon furrowed his brows for a moment before lifting his head and glancing at me. “It was the same everywhere in the world. A person who wasn’t special, not like the rest of their group. Anyone who didn’t have an animal spirit in the shifter family lineage would be looked down upon and seen as weak.”“Is that why Jo insisted on returning Mythril’s energy to me?” I asked again, to be sure.“A Lycan erasthai couldn’t be seen as weak by
Alexa“Brenda, is this home?” I asked.“Of course,” she answered as she took withered flowers from the vase. “You won’t find me anywhere but home.”“Where’s Harlow?” I asked, still in groggy.“His Majesty is on his way here with the doctor. I informed him about you since you called out his name in your sleep. I called the doctor too.” Brenda left the room with dry flowers on her arms.“Alexa!” Harlow burst into the room, panting. “Thank Goddess,” he rushed toward me and hugged me into his tight embrace.“Harlow, you’re alive,” I asked as my eyes flickered many times into his dark brown eyes.“Yes, Alexa, yes. I’m alive. And so are you,” Harlow cried with a wide smile, only to hug me again.“Something’s wrong, Harlow. I’m so tired and Mythril doesn’t answer my call,” I said as I recalled the image of Mythril’s face by the lake.“It’s okay. The doctor will come soon. You’ve been in a coma for a week with a high fever. Thank Goddess, you’re awake,” Harlow murmured as he pressed our foreh
Alexa‘What do you mean? Don’t tell me…,’ Mythril the Lycan murmured.‘You know what I mean,’ I said as both my hands gripped Harlow’s.Our joined hands formed a circle. After this, it might be the last time I saw Harlow again. That thought hit my mind and fear crept into the corner of my heart. That was when a mass of black air passed in front of me.No, it wasn’t ordinary air. Because that puff of black smoke, though faint, blew toward my face as if trying to seep into my nose, mouth, and ears. For a moment, my mind went blank, and I found myself again in a dark and terrifying vision.‘You…,’ I said to that figure of darkness.Without a single word spoken, the black smoke swirled as if speaking to me. Something evil, like a spark that could burn the world to ashes. It was also a powerful energy, intense, destructive. That energy felt enough to wake Harlow without me having to die sacrificing myself.‘Alexa, watch out! It’s Lucifer’s energy,’ Mythril warned.I woke up from the shadow
AlexaI tried to stand up. My body was trembling, holding back fear mixed with anger. My legs were numb, and I struggled to support myself against the wall behind me.‘Come on, Alexa, you’re still strong,’ Mythril encouraged me.‘I can’t move. I’m too weak,’ I whispered, my heart still pounding uncontrollably.I hadn’t expected the seer ritual to drain nearly all my energy. My body felt like it was tied with barbed iron wires all over. Especially my eyes and legs, which wouldn’t move like I want. Meanwhile, Harlow in front of me was struggling with weaker movements.‘Come on. Fight it! We were so close!’ Mythril once again called for resistance from within me.‘I… I can’t transform,’ I groaned in the middle of tears. No matter how hard I tried to change form into Mythril’s body, I could feel my energy vanishing as fast as I drew it out. Like a matchstick repeatedly struck against the box, the spark never caught fire. I groaned as Harlow became limp in Alastair’s grip.‘Alastair’s ener
AlexaI jumped to the side to avoid his energy attack. My body rolled on the floor. The bedroom door was flung open and slammed into the hallway wall with a chilling crack of wood. The door leaf split apart with reddish marks along the edges of the crack.‘His power was that strong?’ Mythril screamed in panic. My breath was ragged, my body trembling in fear. I almost shared the same fate as the door. Before I could even process everything, Harlow took advantage of Alastair’s distraction. He lunged at Alastair again with his super speed and bit into Alastair’s shoulder. Not to be outdone, Alastair struck Harlow’s chest with his enormous fist. Harlow was thrown to the floor and Alastair launched a few barrages of punches on Harlow’s face. Luckily, Harlow dodged some and landed a few clawed counterattacks. They grappled at a speed that was no longer predictable.‘We need to do something. Anything to help him,’ Mythril panicked.‘But I couldn’t target Alastair. They were too fast,’ I said
AlexaHarlow extended his hand and helped me climb the last ledge of the cliff. I was panting, and sweat dripped from my temples. My braided hair was damp along the edges of my face.We sneaked back into Silver Moon through the western cliff. Alastair still seemed unaware that this cliff was actually a labyrinth. Even if he knew, he didn’t seem to care because the western forest was so dark and empty without a single soldier guarding.“Wasn’t this too quiet? Last time Alastair fought us in front of Mrs. Geeny’s house. Shouldn’t he place guards here?” I whispered to Harlow.“Stay alert,” Harlow said.He pointed to the light in the distance that moved wildly. Strange roars boomed from far, and piercing howls echoed incessantly. The troops led by Julius had begun the battle at the front gate. They all hoped their sacrifice would open the way for us to penetrate straight into the enemy’s core.“Come on,” Harlow patted my shoulder and walked ahead, treading the darkness of the Silver Moon
