Chapter 4

Amyra's POV:

With a swift turn, I dragged her by the collar and pushed her, slamming her back against a tree bark.

"It was you all along!" Anger flashed through my eyes.

"What are you talking about?" Claire asked after struggling to get herself back.

"Where's your necklace?" I asked as I noticed the necklace was no longer on her neck but rather in her hands with some of its pieces scattered on the floor. "You're the one enabling them to track us down."

"Yes, you've caught me, well done." Claire clapped as she gave a wild grin, her eyes flashing with contempt.

The expression on her face sent shivers down my spine. I've never seen Claire look so evil before. I was weakened to my knees, desperately hoping it was all a dark joke.

"How could you be among the ones scheming against our people? Come to think that I trusted you, and now this?! What have I done to deserve this?" I asked, struggling not to cry in front of her.

"Everything, you worthless half-breed. You're the reason why I'm orphan, got separated from my younger brother and the sole reason why I turned out this way." She blurted out.

"What do you mean?" I managed to asked amidst the lump in my throat.

"I hate you Amy, and I'll do anything to bring you down!!!!" Claire exclaimed.

My heart scattered as I heard those hateful words from my best friend, I couldn't believe she had so much resentment for me. My head was spinning, my heart racing, I felt dizzy.

"Breathe, Amy breathe." I muttered to myself. I knew I had to be strong. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but I just wanted to get things clear.

Gathering up the little courage I had left in me, I managed to speak up, "I don't understand how I'm the cause of your parents death. I thought they died from a rouge attack."

"They didn't die from a rouge attack!" Claire fired.

"Wha...what do...... you mean?" I stammered, losing my stamina.

"A decree was passed by your grandfather that the half-breed child be killed. At that time my father was the pack's chief commander in army and my mother was heavily pregnant to be due in a few weeks". She paused, taking in a deep breath.

I took some steps back as she slowly walked towards me, sheer pains in her eyes.

"My father being your mother's childhood friend, promised to keep her daughter safe, he promised to keep you safe amidst the decree." She continued looking intently at me, "Your grandfather eventually found out what my father had done and demanded his arrest. Upon hearing the news of my father's arrest, my mother entered into labour."

"I'm sorry,I had no idea." I managed to say.

"How would you have known? I mean your mother finally realise she could lay low, without having to ruin someone else family." Claire pipped up, "Your grandfather issued a decree that my father be hanged for treason. My mother died after giving birth. The poor woman lost the will to live after she heard the news of my father's death!"

"My God!" I gasped in terror.

"I watched as the midwives struggled to revive her, and my baby brother being taken away by the pack's second in command. I was forced, to go live with my aunt all because of you!!!" Claire gave a loud growl and instantly, werewolves appeared from a distant.

The sight of the werewolves running towards us, gave me chills. I instantly broke into a race, darting through the under bush of the dark forest. I could hear the stumping of their feet's on the earth. I scanned all over for an escape root and atlas I saw an opening. I dug head first into a tunnel like cave, as the tree's branches covered the entrance of the cave, securing me from the enemy. Deep in the confines of the cave, I held my breathe and kept still. Trying hard not to alert my predators to my hiding spot.

The small opening of the leaves, enabled me to watch them. They wandered around for a while, before leaving, making me heave a sign of relief.

"Why does it have to be me? And why on this day?!" I exclaimed, "The moon spirits failed me." I cried as I let my head fall on my knees. But then, I remembered all what my mother had said to me about being brave.

I decided on spending the rest of the night in the cave, till it was dawn. I then prepared a makeshift bed for rest and gathered up dried leaves and sticks for fire. I tried to fall asleep but I couldn't, deep down I was angry and heartbroken. Pointing one end of the stick I had picked from the ground into the fire, I held it up its glow illuminating the dimly lit cave.

Taking in a deep breath, I let out a sigh as I set out to go rescue my mum. I wandered through the under bush of the forest, unable to shake off the feeling of unease that was brewing inside me. I had been walking for what felt like hours, but every direction looked the same, but none looked familiar.

The trees seemed to close in on me, casting long ominous shadows on the ground. I soon began to worry if I would be able to locate my mum, or even find my way back to the cave.

I couldn't identify where I was headed. I just kept walking till I realised I had wandered into the territory of the Shadow pack.  Their ruler was known to be a very powerful Lycan, who was Powerful and ruthless in his dealings. He conquered territories with ease, Alphas and Lycans paying homage to him.

My heart skipped a beats as I heard a loud growl echo through the forest. I turned around to see a pair of glowing eyes in front of me. I instantly broke into a race, desperately running for my life. The snarling wolf was mere inches from my heels. With my breathe coming in ragged gaps, I frantically scanned the environment for an escape route.

Just as all hope seemed to be lost, I saw it - a narrow opening between two massive trees, without hesitation I launched forward. But instead of freedom, I found myself in the confines of a large trap net. I struggled to catch my breath as the wolf's snarling jaws closed up, few inches from my face.

Chapter 5Tristan's POV:I sat at my high throne that stood majestically in the grand hall, its presence commanding reverence and awe. Carved from a single block of polished ebony, it absorbed the light around it, radiating an aura of power and sophistication. Intricate patterns of gold and silver adorned its surface, depicting scenes of mythical creatures and celestial bodies. The armrests were shaped like lions' heads, their mouths open in a fierce roar, while the legs were designed to resemble serpents, coiled and ready to strike. As one approached the throne, they couldn't help but feel a sense of grandeur and majesty. It seemed to whisper tales of ancient kingdoms, forgotten wars, and legendary rulers. The throne's design exuded an air of regality, as it had witnessed the rise and fall of empires. Soft, velvety cushions in a deep, rich black adorned the seat. The throne's backrest rose high, supporting my stature and bearing, symbolising my authority and dominance."Speak." I sai
