This shouldn't be happening. Not now, not here! Why did things keep getting worse? How was I supposed to manage being in heat and living in the same house with my supposed mates!?
I wandered from one end of my dimly lit room to the other, a hand clutching my abdomen as the pinching pain grew. It was only going to get worse until it drove me to insanity.
The last time it happened— which also happened to be my first time, mother taught me how to mask my scent with some herbs because she didn't want any of the males to catch my scent.
Maybe if I could figure out her recipe, I could mask my scent on my own. Nodding in agreement to my plan, I skipped towards the door, pushing it open and stumbling out. It was still too early for the triplets to be awake, so I made my way to the pantry freely in search of herbs.
I found all the herbs I needed except one, but there was no time to waste, so I prepared the potion quickly. I knew it wasn't complete, but it had to work somehow. I took it back to my room, had my bath and smeared it all over my body. It had a minty scent, and burned a little, so I was a little hopeful.
Throwing my brown tote bag onto my arm, I left my room, keeping my chin up despite the pain that threatened to cripple me. My stomach burned on the inside, the space between my thighs wetter than it had ever been. I couldn't walk two steps without some liquid tricking down my pants.
It was unbearable and uncomfortable, but I had almost made it to the door when a strong hand grabbed my arm and pulled me back, slamming my back against the wall roughly. I squealed, the impact travelling up my spine.
“Kael..” My eyes widened when I found him almost pressed against me, staring down at me with his warm breath brushing against my forehead. I almost folded, my knees giving out. I felt my stomach twist harder, and my clit throbbing as if it knew that Kael was my mate.
“What is wrong with you, huh? Why won't you accept the bond and end this!?”
My jaw hung open as I barely tried to get out of his strong grip. Tiny gasps escaped my throat while I wondered if he could smell that I was on heat. Did the mask even work?
“Kael.. I.. you're… you're hurting me.” I swallowed, tears burning the corners of my eyes. “Please let me go.”
Then I saw it, his face softened. It changed from complete anger to something darker as recognition flashed in his eyes. He raised his head, his nostrils flaring as he inhaled sharply.
Oh no! He could smell me!
“What's that..?” His eyebrows raised, his heartbeat sounding in my ears. I held my breath, expecting the worst, and trying to keep my pain contained.
“What's what?”
He held me tighter, and a whimper escaped my lips. “Kael, please..”
“Kael!”
Dante's voice landed like thunder, instantly stealing Kael's attention. His grip on my arm loosened as soon as he turned to his brother.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Dante questioned, and I saw it as my opportunity. I slipped out before they could notice me and ran out of the house. Things would only get worse if I stayed there any further.
The moment I stepped into the school gates, I felt a sense of dread that left me frozen in my tracks in the middle of the field. I clutched my bag to my chest as if it would protect me from the glaring, hungry eyes of the males all around me. Alphas to be precise.
I knew that the mask would wear it off quickly, it wasn't strong enough and one herb was missing. The pain had extended from my stomach to my muscles, spreading fast, weakening me, and making my scent stronger. No wonder they were staring at me.
I continues walking, keeping my gaze low until I got to class. The professor and I came in at the same time, luckily, so I rushed to take my seat next to Julie who was waving at me from the back.
As I walked towards her, eyes followed me, ravenous eyes that smelled how wet and aching I was. I was unclaimed, and that only meant danger. I had to find a way to mask my scent or these hungry males would devour me.
“Hey, what's up? Why's everyone staring at you like that?” Julie asked in a hushed tone as soon as I settled beside her.
I sighed. “You won't believe it, Julie. I'm in heat, and I don't know what to do.”
Her eyes widened. “This is bad. Really? How can you be in heat though? You don't have a mate. Only mated wolves go into heat.” She pointed out and my heart fell into my stomach.
“I.. I..”
“It's okay. Just come over tonight, and I'll make you something to mask your scent. It won't stop the excessive pain that's yet to come though.” She sounded like she was warning me, and it made my nerves rage.
“Thank you Julie.”
“I live in the zeta dorm, just ask of Julie when you get there.” She offered me a bright smile before turning to pay attention to what the professor was saying.
I took a deep breath, feeling the eyes on me but deciding to ignore them. This was about to be a very long week.

After my chores that evening, I left the house before the triplets could return from their hockey practice. I needed to see Julie for the masking potion, and I needed it desperately.
With a scarf wrapped around my shoulders, I scampered towards the zeta house, only stopping when I felt a strange presence around me. I looked around frantically, with my heart racing, and when I didn't find anyone, I took off again. This time, my legs quickened, only for me to bump into a hard chest that caused me to stagger back.
A large Alpha blocked my path, a dirty smirk playing on his lips. My heart dipped, and I stepped back in fear. I turned on my heel to run only for another large male to stand in my way.
I was in trouble.
“Pretty little thing.” He bit his lip, closing the space between us. I turned again, determined to avoid them, but another male emerged from the shadows, cornering me.
Fear lunged in my throat, and my body froze as the realization of how much danger I was in dawned on me.
“I.. I don't want any trouble.” I muttered, squeezing my dress.
“Now now baby..” the first Alpha chuckled, his voice buttery but dark. “You can't say that when you're going around smelling like trouble itself.”
My breath hitched.

Nyra's pov.My heart stopped. What did he mean? His jaw tightened, and I fought the urge to ask him what he was talking about, but something told me that he already knew what I was going to ask, because he whipped around and walked towards the dark hallway. I took a few steps towards him, too curious to let him go. “Wait, Ronan. What do you mean by what you just said?” My voice was barely audible, a testament to how intimidated his presence made me. I could feel his anger, like a living, breathing thing, becoming even heavier with my question. He looked over his shoulder at me, eyes dark and filled with terror, forcing me to take a step back.He didn't say a word, he simply went on his way, disappearing into the darkness like he was never there. He took his aura with him, and I was finally able to breathe, but his words stayed with me, giving me yet another thing to worry about.Something much stronger than Alpha? What could that be? Nothing of that sort existed, except for lycans
Nyra's pov.Mikel was turning pale, slowly losing the breath in his lungs, but no one was doing anything to stop Kael. It was like they were afraid of him, but I couldn't think about that at that moment. I was too stunned to move, but when I saw Ronan and Dante rushing towards us, I had a little hope. My eyes flicked to them, panting and expecting them to stop their brother, but they barely got close to him.“Kael.. drop him.” Ronan's voice was stern, dripping with authority, but not enough to pull Kael out of whatever was going on with him. Kael's deep growl came, weakening everyone around him. His eyes had turned a deeper shade of red, his human side completely lost. He was only determined to kill the man in his hands. “Kael! Listen to us, snap out of it!” Dante cried out.Everything around me slowly faded, my heart clenching at the thought of someone dying in front of me. I could barely breathe, with Kael's deep growls being the only thing I could hear. I took a deep breath, cl
Nyra's pov.Dante's words played in my head throughout the first class, and by the second one, Julie, who had been sitting beside me finally noticed how absent minded I was. “Are you okay?” She nudged my arm with her elbow, keeping her voice barely above a whisper. I nodded simply, too engrossed in my thoughts to speak. “You don't look okay, I can tell that something's bothering you.” She insisted, batting her long lashes at me. “I'm fine, Julie.” I responded, making sure my voice was firm. “Something's definitely got you worried. If you tell me, I can..” “Can you just shut up!?” I snapped, my eyebrows creased in anger. “You're so fucking annoying and I just want you to leave me alone!” I groaned and turned away, folding my arms on my chest. I heard her sniff, and immediately felt a pang of guilt in my chest. It wasn't my intention to be rude, I simply wanted to be left alone. When I turned to her again, she had moved a few seats away, causing me to bite my lip in regret. I mus
Nyra's pov.I felt it too. I had tried to ignore it, but the bond formed, like a visible string, connecting me to all three of them. My heart stopped, and again, I took a step back. This wasn't what I planned, this wasn't supposed to happen, it had never even happened, so why me?“No… you don't know what you're talking about.” My voice was frail, and my eyes moved from one sweaty brother to the other. “We know you feel it too, the pull.” Kael insisted, rage crossing his eyes as he stepped in front of his brothers. “You cannot deny it.”I chuckled, but nothing was funny. I was simply trying to convince myself that this was a cruel joke by the moon goddess. It was unheard of to be mated to three men, plus, I already had a mate who rejected me. “That's funny, because I don't even have a wolf, so how can I recognize a mate bond?” I tried to convince them and myself. Ronan, brooding in the corner with eyes that held a scary calmness, let out a grunt. “The goddess is not foolish.” “Why
Nyra's pov.My breath caught as his grip tightened on my wrist. I tried to wriggle out, fear gnawing at my chest, and his breath growing heavier like he was trying to hold back. “Please..” I muttered, letting my drag drop and placing my palm on top of his hairy hand. “I didn't know this room was occupied.” He moved closer, his sandalwood scent growing more intense, and leaving me with a sensation of heat that travelled down to the space between my thighs. My cheeks burned, my body went rigid and I struggled harder. “You walked into the one place you shouldn't be.” Ronan, the one holding me, grunted, making me shiver. I could feel all their eyes on me, watching carefully, but I could barely see a thing. However, something in me decided that it was time to push back, tired of being punished, of being treated like a mere object. “Then maybe…” I started, forcing the words out despite the way my heart was slamming against my chest. “You should keep your doors locked if you don't want
